casio 500Strengths: great while it lasted Weakness: after 3 months, the lens wouldn't come out - I followed instructions and sent it to be repaired - I got an email with the extimate of $138.00 to repair - this is ridiculous-they should repair free - I'll never buy another casio product - to make matters worse, you can't even talk to a PERSON - no phone numbers on their web sites 100% of readers found this review helpful. EXILIM EX-Z500 Silver Digital CameraStrengths: Sleek design, compact size, good picture quality in most situations, a whole bunch of features, long battery life. Weakness: The USB cradle has a cheap feeling. The camera certainly takes good portrait photos. I particularly like the level of detail shown in the indoor portrait. This is especially noticeable in the hair and the blouse. It is also very pleasing to be able to report there is no redeye showing in the photo. The skin tones are natural in both the indoor and outdoor shots. My other indoor test photo of beer bottles taken in more or less complete darkness is sharply focused and well lit. This suggests that the camera will perform well in lowlight conditions in general providing you are not too far away from your subject. The macro test shot is o.k. but, it is not one of the camera's stronger areas. I have become used to seeing sharper images than the Exilim EX-Z500 managed. Therefore if a close-up photography is one of your main criteria for buying a digital camera it is probably advisable to look elsewhere. The camera does well in my dedicated test shot for colour. There is a slight over emphasis on blue but otherwise there is plenty of depth to all the colours. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio Exilim EX-Z500 Silver Digital Camera
Strengths: Highly recommend camera for the price & stylish!! Please do read on for my full review..
Weakness: Nothing yet.
Battery life: It is excellent. I used it for the full duration of my trip and took 1 GB worth of both photos and short video clips. I only charged the batter once, but it was not even out of battery when I charged it. I charged it just in case, because I used this camera for the very first time and I didn't have any spare battery.
Best shots: I used most of them and the pictures come out nice and clear. The "text" best shot is one of them I like the best. If you are to tour around and want to take pictures with writings and signs describing the scenes. Very clear.
Night scene shots: haven't tried a lot with the the night scene shots yet. But took a few and I do recommend buying a more powerful and high speed memory card though, to speed up taking the pictures because of the longer shutter speed. I was only using the normal memory SD cards.
Lens: When the lens shutter changes, I hear the 'chuck chuck' sound, not the noise from the zoom lens. I am not sure what it is, but it doesn't bother me cause it tells me that the camera is trying to focus and that give me the warnings.
A word of advise: put on the wrist strap and put it through your wrist before taking pictures. Because the size of the camera, I almost slipped the camera out of my hand once.
