Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Great Macro Mode, the best viewing screen, and awesome portability. I have owned a Casio z3 and have upgraded to the z4. Both are excellent cameras for vacations. They pack a lot of features.

Weakness: Defiantly no weaknesses, it’s for the easy professional picture taker not the perfectionist pro. This camera is way worth the money. The quality and features combined with its size makes it the best.

This camera will allow you to fit it in any pocket with out being seen. It takes great night clips and exceptional video clips with sound. The camera very quick for a 4 mega pixel camera and the sound is great. And yes the battery last a very long time. The camera has features that just can not be put into words. I would suggest that anyone interested in buying one should go to there local retailer and really give it a look. The better you get at using the camera, the more professional your pictures will look. And the size is incredible. Two thumbs up.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Tiny, light and great pictures

Weakness: No movie mode on the Z4U

According to the Casio site the Z4 version of the camera can do 60 second movies, but the US Z4U (which I have) cannot. Be careful which version you buy.

Other than that it is so light you can take it anywhere so no more missing pictures.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: I like the small size of this camera, the ease with which the cradel allows you to view and charge the battery. The usable life of the battery inbetween charging requirments. I like the petitness.

Weakness: It is vertually impossible to view the subjects on the 2" screen when the sun is at your back. One must order a hard copy of the 177 page instruction book.

The pictures that I have taken have all been of superior quality. The menu is simple and easy to use, although more definitions of cause and effects of the various settings would be very helpful. This is a good product.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Super small, great pictures, awesome macros, even the included software is simple to use, and battery life is incredible

Weakness: No Movie mode, but I bought this as a camera, not a camcorder so it is no big deal

I use this camera constantly for work and for play. I have taken photos for advertising and they come out beautifully. I have taken professional style pictures of friends that would stand up to any film camera photo. The software that this camera comes with is so easy to use even for the non-computer savvy. I would recommend purchasing a large SD card, as 4 mega pixel pics take a lot of room, and would also recommend a secondary picture editing software(I love Adobe photoshop) for your more professional editing. All in all, this is a fantastic camera that fits in any pocket and with its size you can actually forget it is there, so it is convenient for those suprise, wish I had a camera moments.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Its really small, and very easy to use. Takes great pictures, you can reduce the megapixels if you want to take more pictures and want to email them to friends. The optical zoom is badass.

Weakness: none, couldnt find a better camera on the market.

I have had this for a short time now but i havent read the manual and still can take pictures with a decent degree of sophistication. Doesnt take longer than five minutes to figure out how to use any feature. Amazing camera for the size and the price. The docking station is also very useful as it recharges and the battery while you download pictures off the camera. Buy this camera and you wont regret the investment.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Small compact size and relatively easy to use. Large LCD viewer

Weakness: Viewer is fuzzy when using the digital magnifier. Can't make movies like Canon S400

I bought the Ex-z4u over the canon s400 because of the larger viewer and greater magnification. I also bought an after the market charger because unhooking and using the cradle for a outside the home battery charger would be a hassle. Have been happy with picture quality. Using the split screen for overlayed pictures is novel. Wish you could do panaroma pictures.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Highly recommended!! I am a professional photographer and did a lot of research on which small camera to buy. This one is amazing! The viewing screen is larger han the others and it is simple to use! I love all the special effects and choices of focusing and flash variations. The zoom is fabulous and the macro is so unbelievebly sharp. It is my 4th digital camera and has the best quality of them all.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Very small, long battery life, recharging-docking station, crisp images

Weakness: Slightly longer shutter response, does not record avi

Overall, I am very pleased with this camera. 4MP gives great clarity in the shots. The camera is loaded with many features. I am a little disappointed that the camera does not record motion picture (AVI) like it's predecesor (EX-S3) and it is a little slower with the shutter speed as well. Other than that... this is a great camera.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Tiny, will carry All the time. Largest LCD available on any dig-cam (2" diag) is great.

Weakness: 4MP chip does not deliver quality even equal to 3MP! Not good for keeper images. Full manual, only available OL in PDF file is 170 pages.

This will be short, I'll update later. I love the size for having with ALL the time. Has a gaggle of features, but NOT aperture setting for depth of field. I am VERY disappointed in the actual image quality of the 4MB chip. My Olympus 3.3 MB 3030 dig-cam is superior. The Casio image is soft and needs considerable more "unsharping" tweaking in PhotoShop than the Oly.
Conclusion. I'll carry the Casio all the time, but continue to use the Oly for my serious work. What a shame, I'd hope to just carry the Casio on vacations. Not a chance, darn it.

BYW: the noise complained about in earlier reviews is present more than other cameras. It you can even see it dancing around on the LCD! It can be cleaned up by using the free program NeatImage at www.neatimage.com/... It really works. Takes some time to learn how to use, but is a miracle worker, so is well worth the effort. All said though, if you prefer available light most of the time, and produce a lot of fine images with the Casio, the time effort may be a large pain. Therefore, I think I'll shoot serious work with a faster lens dig-cam. Even my Oly 3030 does a heck of better job under those low light conditions. An easier solution is to simply set the Casio to a lower ASA. This does the trick very nicely, but of course you'll probably have to use some sort of brace for the camera, like a full or mini tripod. I always carry a tiny pocket tripod.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Very light with hugh view. Menue easy to operate. Docking station makes recharging a snap and also serves as a slide show.

Weakness: small internal memory

Bought this camera to have a very light mobile, in your pocket piece. It is very easy to use with sinple menues. Would have preferred a real instruction manual instead of having to go through my computer but I guess it helps keep the cost down. Wish it came with more then a internal 10 meg memory which only allows for 6 shots at the highest resolution

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: This camera is very small, compact and easy to carry around! The 2 inch LCD screen is great for viewing your shots. The best shot mode makes it easy to take pictures in any setting. Has Pentax lens.

Weakness: No avi/movie mode available

This is a great overall use camera that is small, light-weight, compact and easy to use. It's appeal is that it is not bulky like the other digital cameras, and easy to carry around. The sleek cradle makes it simple to recharge and download pictures unto your computer. I would recommend it as a first-time use camera...for novices.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Overall size, LCD size

Weakness: No movie mode, indoor pictures are grainy

I would have gone for Sony DSC T-1 if it existed when I purchased this one. I didn't even check on-line whether it had a movie mode before I purchased this, because the 3.2 MB one had it.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Compact size. Large LCD screens and love the built in camera settings.

Weakness: LCD screen display is not too sharp, but does not affect the final photo.

Got the camera as a birthday gift last week. Impressed by the camera's sleek feature at first sight. The battery's life is incredible. Has a built in memory of 10MB, and those run out pretty quickly.

However, the photo quality is awesome, maybe due to its Pentax lens. Has 21 programmed settings for photo taking, such as monochrome, party, twilight etc which makes it convenient to use.

Highly recommended.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Very Easy to use Menu system, Fast shutter-even in low light, Great battery life, recessed power-on switch so you don't accidently turn it on while it is in your pocket, really nice 2" LCD screen

Weakness: No printed user manual, must view CD. Short wrist strap. Can't download pictures directly from camera without using charging/transfer cradle.

Really nice, compact 4 MP camera that takes great pictures in different lighting conditions. It is so compact that you can keep in your shirt pocket and always be ready for that special shot. Logical and straight forward menu system makes it easy to set the camera just the way you want it. Very nice layout of easy to read informational icons on the LCD screen.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: small, lightweight, huge lcd screen

Weakness: not great quality photos in low light or the dark

Good stylish camera for some one who wants a camera to take great pics while on vacation. Not for a professional....

It's the kinda of camera you can forget that you have with you becuase it's not heavy or too big...again this camera is 4 megapixels which is good especially a camera this small..

I would recommend buying this if you are a "vacation" photographer.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: small stylish some nice features.

Weakness: i thought a little slow picture taking. plus the 2 inch screen is not very clear as the z3 which i just sold. no video out which the z3 didn't have either.

the most troubling thing here is that i purchased this z4 thinking it had movie mode 60 seconds. not true at all. this site and casio site plus others are making this false claim. i think thats called false advertising. i will be looking into this for possible suit. the only thing i can suggest to those of you looking to get this good looker is do what i'm going to do later today. i'm going to checkout the pentax optio s4 which is even smaller than the z4. it has a few features i wish the casio did and all for the same money or alittle less i believe. movie mode and video out are cool features to have regardless of if you have a video camera.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: small size; ease of use

Weakness: there were none...until the LCD went out.

This is my third digicam. I had an old Kodak years ago, an older Canon PowerShot for which the Casio replaced. I have been thrilled with the Casio, especially with its ease of use and its small size. For those of us not particularly interested in or having the time to learn the capabilities of cameras with all of the higher end manual photography adjustments, this camera is a dream. UNTIL the LCD screen quit working. I now have a screen with a big, black blob-looking thing that covers 3/4 of the screen and has rendered my camera useless. I can still shoot by looking through the viewfinder, but it is so tiny, it makes it extremely difficult. I am now in the market for a new camera. I am very squeamish about buying another Casio...and very sad.

Casio Exilim EX-Z4U 4 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Picture Quality, Usability, Dimensions

Weakness: Price, Docking-Station necessary

I'm a proud owner since 1 year and I love the exilim. The Exilim is so small, but still the picture quality is tremendous.

The camera is easy to handle, you don't need to read the manual.

Disadvantages are the high price (but still fair compared to the features) and that you have to use the docking-station for transmitting the pictures to your computer via USB.
