Kodak Digital DC290 2240x1500 16MBStrengths: Low light pictures, high quality, add on lenses,no camera does what this one does. Weakness: Not point and shoot, takes professional pictures, has more gadgets, than I ever saw in a camera This camera will shoot in very low light conditions, can be upgraded,by your computer, Great customer service, by Kodak. can add on 37mm lenses, with adapter. can add extra flash. Can record up to two minutes of sound with every picture, not many cameras talk, but this one does. They just don't make them any more like this one. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Kodak Digital DC290 2240x1500 16MBStrengths: Color quality is superb! I dont have the battery problems others say they have as I limited the use of the display. Can't beat the price in terms of the color and image quality you get. I have yet to Weakness: Very slow boot up, lag time between shots, lag time from pushing the capture button to the actual taking of the picture, no macro setting and a bit bulky (even tho I like the wieght). You just can't beat the price and ease of use for the quality of pictures you recieve. If all you need are great pics without all the fuss this is your camera... especially if you dont want or need to spend lots of $$$$$. If you want to do lots of "cool" stuff then move on but the canera is sturdy and returns awesome pictures with the truest color and resolution you can get. CAUTION - DO NOT buy any lens kits as they DO NOT work with this camera. If you want to take macro pics for example the lens kit that some may want to sell won't work well with this camera. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Kodak Digital DC290 2240x1500 16MBStrengths: Excellent mix of features and captures GREAT pictures. Easy to use and convenient. Weakness: A little large and can be slow when turning on. If you are going to snap more than two pictures quickly, you need to be in burst mode. A very nice camera. Picture quality is GREAT for the price. In order to beat the quality you will likely need to spend at least $150 more. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Kodak Digital DC290 2240x1500 16MB
Strengths: Easy to use; compact; change settings on the fly; red-eye deterrent built in; great value for the money
Weakness: Batteries go quick; too much lag time between shots, especially when you're using a flash; needs light in darker areas to take good photos; feels "big/bulky" if you're used to 35mm cameras
I've thoroughly enjoyed owning this camera and normally would have upgraded to something bigger and better by now, but I'll let the kids wait a little longer...
Unlike another reviewer, I haven't had major problems using 37mm lenses with this camera - UV, PL, 4x and 6x star filters, macro, telephoto and wide-angle lenses all work fine. *BUT* you have to use a lens adapter, which makes photos with the add-ons a bit of a pain and time consuming, but worth the shot you're going after.
Get a good set of sticks (tripod) for portrait or scenery shots and you'll be happy with the results. This camera takes excellent photos for web use, but I'd only feel comfortable printing "photo quality" shots at 5x7 or less. The 8x10's at high resolution are very nice, but you can definitely (to a picky/trained eye) tell the pixels aren't happy. The literature touts a 3.3meg resolution using software, but you're still working with the 2.1meg original uncompressed photo to get there.
A good rechargeable battery pack can last all day if you don't use the LCD to review every photo. Be sure to plan out your photos if you use a flash - expect to wait from 2 to 10 seconds between flash shots, depending on battery strength.
If you've got to have the exquisite big-print shot, buy an 8meg digicam, but if you want quality photos to hand to friends, use for your business (inventory/training,) or put on the web, this is the best I've tried and owned.
