3 Star Reviewstylish- great beginner camera.
Strengths: lots of settings, long battery life, rechargeable battery, good image quality when on the right setting, amazing macro shots.
Weaknesses: the automatic image quality is grainy or fuzzy or both, with little clarity. the settings are hard to get right.
Summary: I've only had this camera for a few weeks, but it's a neat little thing. It has a long battery life so I can pretty much take it anywhere, and it's perfect for random snapshots. For some reason mine records sound for 30 seconds afterwards unless you hit 'menu'... but this doesn't happen if 'continual mode' is on. I, personally, didn't think the images were that great... I did better with my kodak easyshare v530, and canon powershot SD600, which happens to be less expensive and equally stylish.

Strengths: Small size, big LCD screen, very fast response time, battery life, docking station, good quality movies, anti-shake.
Weaknesses: No optical zoom during movie mode. Movie mode sometimes loses focus. Docking station is needed to recharge.
Summary: 2006-05-04 10:33:11 This is an excellent camera, because:

1-(Obviously) small size.

2-Big LCD screen.

3-Very good battery life.

4-Docking station is included. You don't need to open the camera and take out the SD card every time you want to transfer pictures.

5-30 FPS movie mode.

6-Anti-shake feature.

7-Uses SD cards, unlike some other brands who try to push their own memory standard. And SD cards are pretty cheap too nowadays.

It's really difficult to find all these features in such a small camera in any of the other brands. The followings are the cons of the camera:

1-You cannot change optical zoom during movie mode.

2-Don't throw away your camcorder yet: During movie mode, sometimes focus is lost momentarily, even when there's a lot of light. I have a very small memory-only camcorder and that camcorder does not lose focus like this one.

3-Docking station is needed for charging. I think Casio engineers could not find a spot for the plug on such a small camera, which is understandable. However, with such a long battery life, you won't need the charger for short trips.

Strengths: compact, light-weight, long battery life (pictures), very strong casing
Weaknesses: lower battery life when filming, lag when taking pictures while filming
Summary: The camera performed exactly as I expected. I read a lot of reviews about the poor picture quality, but its not that bad; I would say the pictures are about average indoors and very good outdoors. The movie quality goes the same way. Although the camera allows you to take pictures while in movie mode, there is a time gap of a second or two in the movie when the camera flashes for the picture.

Strengths: thin, small, sharp lens, good colour balance, great choice of "programmes", very user friendly straight out of the box, good battery life, very strong flash for its size
Weaknesses: Noisy-ish at ISO200 onwards but which mini camera isn't?
Summary: Tested it against Sony DSC-T9 and Sony DSC-N1. Against DSC-N1 in hand held indoor shooting situations, the S600 had a much higher chance of capturing the photo right - less blurred photos. Biggest problem with N1 is its inability to adjust its exposure in low light. You can hardly see what you are shooting in the LCD. If you were to brighten up the screen using "+2 EV", the highlights end up being overblown so that no detail is captured in bright areas. No real difference in resolution up to 8 x 10". As the LCD takes up all of the space at the back of the N1 it is a pain to have to touch the screen to use the menu in order to make any changes to settings eg flash. DSC-T9's was not as impressive as S600 in both resolution and colour balance (again in ordinary indoor shooting, not bright sunlight), nor was its flash as powerful. And it is almost 25% thicker (0.6" vs 0.8"). I did not want to like the S600 and it started being least favourite but its performance alone won me over. And very quickly too.

Strengths: This camera is ultra-compact! Just a little bigger in size than a credit card! The images and battery life are outstanding, and with 1 gig SD card, you can take 265 6.0MP pics!
Weaknesses: Have found none as of yet; the only thing is you have to mount the camera to a cradle instead of a USB port to download the pics. Also, it is only 3.0X optimal zoom, but I have no compliants.
Summary: Overall, I give this camera a 5/5! For me, I wanted a camera that was small enough to carry in my pocket, and not weight alot to be aware that you are carrying it. Also, I wanted a battery that would last long and take excellent pictures. This camera has it all! I would recommend it to everyone!

Strengths: Super Compact, MPEG-4 Video, Nice Build Quality, Docking Station Included, Nice Selection Of Colors
Weaknesses: Weak Flash (Typical For Compact Camera), Slight Hesitation In Video Due To Frame Rate, Limited Manual Controls
Summary: I purchased this camera because my Nikon DSLR is a little too large to take with me everywhere I go. I wanted something that I could easily place in my pocket with the hope that I might get pictures I would otherwise miss. Well, this camera has not disappointed. It's small enough to carry and you don't realize that you have it with you. I decided to purchase a camera case which does add to the size, but it also provides a little bit of insurance in case you drop it.

Ok, enough about the size. So, how well does it work? For picture quality of a compact camera, I'd give it a solid B+. I'm a little spoiled with the performance that I get with a DSLR, so maybe it might seem better to others that do not have a camera with a better overall focusing system. What I mean is that you can take a great picture with this camera, but there is a slightly better chance of getting a picture that is a little off. This isn't a big deal for me, because I'm used to taking several pictures in a row, so I can delete all of the ones that are slightly out of focus or not exposed properly. Again, this is a compact camera, so don't expect every picture to turn out just right. What seems to balance this camera off nicely, is its ability to take decent video in a file size that won't run you out of memory. If you think that you might want to use the video option often, I do suggest getting a larger card. I bought a fast 150x 2GB card and I'm very happy. Plenty of room for video and pictures. Oh, and by the way, I purchased an extra battery, but this thing runs forever. You can probably get away with one and save a few bucks. Back to the video. This thing will not replace your camcorder, but it does do a nice job capturing video that you wouldn't otherwise have without your camcorder. It's just slightly jumpy due to the framerate. Nothing terrible, but noticeable. Just keep that in mind.

If you are in the market for a compact camera, be sure to give this one a look. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Summary: 2006-03-01 10:30:48 Very nice design, very compact, easy to bring anywhere. I think this camera has an excellent quality of the shot if you taking it with the daylight. It also has excellent battery life. The memory is SD and for SD card, almost these days has a very nice price for 1gb.

Strengths: Small size; excellent screen; great options to change for different shots.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: I enjoyed the camera and would highly recommend it for anyone. It appares to be better than other cameras that I've used. It's wide screen for viewing is much better than looking through a viewfinder window. The thinness of it also is very appealing.

Strengths: Sleek/Compact, large screen, good battery life, great quality pics/video
Weaknesses: User manual could include more details about the various options that the camera has (not everyone who buys the camera is a photographer)
Summary: 2006-06-27 06:16:47 I'm no expert - actually this is my very first digital camera.. But this is exactly what I wanted. Something ultra-compact that still takes great quality shots/video. Oh and I was able to pop in a 2gb SD memory card without any problems...

Update: the range of the flash is pretty weak, don't expect great quality shots in dim lighting conditions

Strengths: Super small size - easily fits in shirt pocket. Anti-shake feature great for us amatuers. Records movie clips as well.
Weaknesses: Too many menu features/settings to choose from. OK if your a pro. User manual is on CD supplied with camera. Very inconvenient to look up things.
Summary: I am super happy with this camera. Can take it anywhere. Super long life rechargeable battery really usefull. Docking station very convenient.

Every bit as good or better than the Canon Elph and less expensive.

Would prefer that they include a Secure Digital card to get you started rather than having to run out and buy one.
