FinePix A500 Digital Camera

Strengths: Very beautiful pictures, easy to use and lightwieght.

Weakness: Takes a second longer to take the picture. So the picture you want might not be the picture you get

I love this camera. The only weakness I've had is the comment above on the weakness. Other than that, its a wonderful camera for the price. I would difinitely recommend this camera.

FinePix A500 Digital Camera (5.1MP, 2592x1944, 3x...

Strengths: Very vivid, clear, and beautiful photos!

Weakness: NONE

I can't say enough about the fantastic quality of the pictures that you get with this inexpensive, digital, pocket sized camera. It is very simple to operate too.

I got lots of compliments on the photos I took of my European trip from my co-workers and friends.

I would highly recommend buying it to anyone.

I am looking for a good, simple digital camera for my wife and the Fuji A500 Silver sounds as if it is exactly what she requires.

Any problems yet? I have read the review about problems with the zoom control. How's it working for you?

Thank you,

Bill

Value for Money - Good for starter

Strengths: Nice and sharp picture, light weight, inexpensive, better battery life

Weakness: xd card, not so good night picture, samll lcd

we bought the Fujifilm Finepix A500 to slip inside the pocket during the business trip.
I used it mostly to get snapshots in business meetings and conferences.
It is small, and works well for the purpose intended.

You will have to buy a case and extra xd card to go with this. as well as keep extra batteries to be in the
safe side .. rechargble NIMH battery will be better.

Hope this will help.

Fuji A500 Easy to Use

Strengths: small and lightweight. Automatic mode produces great photos.

Weakness: small lcd monitor as compared to others available. Does not focus well in low light.

I have used Fuji cameras exclusively for the last 7 years. They Always produce great photos. The 5 MegaPixel leaves lots of room to crop and still have excellent prints.

Fuji FinePix A500 Digital Camera

Strengths: Easy to use. Very light weight. Afforable camera.

Weakness: Although it is light weight, it is kind of big. It is slow to take a picture.

I have this camera for about 5 weeks. Every thing is OK now. Although it is slow and a little big, but at this price, I really can't complain anything.

Fuji FinePix A500 Silver Digital Camera

Strengths: Compact size. Easy to use. Intuitive menu.

Weakness: None

The Fuji FinePix A500 Silver Digital Camera was very easy to use right out of the box without even reading the instruction book which was well laid out. The camera will easily fit in your shirt pocket.

A Great First Digital Camera!

Strengths: It is easy to go back and look at/delete photos. You don't have to navigate through lots of menus. Great resolution. Nice size.

Weakness: This camera takes the photo a few seconds after you push the button. So tell the subjects to say cheese and remain in that position for a few seconds afterwards.

I liked this camera but since it was the only digital camera I've ever used, I didn't have much to compare it to. It was easy to use and didn't have a million other buttons to deal with. I liked how there is one opening for both the batteries and the memory card.

Good but Some Problems

Strengths: When Conditions are right takes a good picture. Relatively Cheap. Inexpensive underwater case available

Weakness: Delay in taking photo from time button is pushed. No optical viewfinder. ASA limited to 400 maximum.

I would not have choosen this camera as a daily use camera because of the limitations mentioned above. The delay in taking the photo means the subject may have moved in the second or so that elapses and this can be maddening. The lack of an optical view finder makes it had to compose the photo, especially when bright sunlight makes it hard to see the LCD screen. A maximum ASA of 400 means it won't work well in dim conditions. However I am happy with my purchase because I wanted an inexpensive digital camera to take snorkeling, rafting, and boating. Fuji makes a cheap underwater case (good to 10 ft depth) for this model and when used together they provide a very good and inexpensive solution for those needing to take images in water (or dust) environments.

Review for Fuji Finepix A500

Strengths: Easy to use Works on AA batteries Daylight pictures are crisp

Weakness: The zoom button is little bit awkward to use Uses XD card, which is little pricier

The daylight pictures turned out to be very good. But, the camera doesn’t perform the same way in under low light or artificial light conditions. The shutter lag is high and is sluggish. I would recommend this camera for anyone as it costs less than 100 bucks. Excellent value for money.

Nice little camera for everyday use

Strengths: small size, low profile, fit well into pocket;

Weakness: relatively expensive memory card required;

THis is an excellent choice for regular use, where convenience is a top priority. The quality is really okay. There is no meaningful difference between 5 and 7 mp. Downside is the memory card (xd) cost more than SD card, but consider that's one-time investment.

Finepix A500

Strengths: 5.1MP, compact, lightweight, price

Weakness: No XD card included, no ac adapter included, short battery life

This is a great little camera. Gets better quality pictures then my other camera and it was on sale. How can you go wrong? I've only had this camera for a short time but I'm pleased at the detail of the photo's it produces. I've heard it has a short battery life but I haven't had it long enough to test that theory. All in all, its a great camera for the price.

FinePix A500

Strengths: good design for a starter camera, small and light weight.

Weakness: shutter too slow, noisy -- sounds shaky

This camera looks pretty decent for the price range. It's small, light weight and easy to use. I was able to set the settings and take pictures w/o even checking out the user's manual. It's not the top of the line camera. Photos taken looked good (though not outstanding). It's good enough for everyday photos. However, the shutter is a bit slow and a bit too noisy (sounds shaky).
Overall, if you are not too picky, this is a good camera for the price range.

Can't complain for the price

Strengths: Cheap camera, takes decent pics

Weakness: Terrible shutter lag, auto WB has a yellow cast indoors

If you want to take pictures of small kids, stay away from this camera - the shutter lag is really frustrating. The LCD freezes on an image when you press the shutter halfway. Unfortunately, it then takes a couple of seconds before the picture is actually taken. Many times, the preview looks nothing like the actual shot.

I was also concerned that indoor preview pics have a yellow cast to them. Fortunately, the actual picture does not have a yellow cast. You can change the auto WB to indoors to eliminate the yellow cast, but its not very convenient.

Finepix A500

Strengths: Nice compact camera. Feels solid. Fuji usually makes a good prduct.

Weakness: Shutter lag. Small LCD. XD format.

I like the camera because it is compact and it feels solid. The LCD is rather small compared to some other similar sized cameras. The shutter lag is rather long and you often miss the shot as it takes a second before the shutter responds. Decent camera for under $100.

Nice camera for the money

Strengths: Good looking, has vizor which saves bateries.

Weakness: xD card expensive and overall quality.

The camera is an affordable option for new buyers. Moreover, this time, Fuji added some looks to it. I think this is a perfect camera for someone that just want to take pictures once in a while.

Good little pocket shooter, great value for the...

Strengths: Small, decent photos, portable, inexpensive

Weakness: low light, weak flash

Good camera for the pocket. Not expensive so I'm not worried about damaging it. I take it everywhere. Picture quality is a step up from the A400, but not as good as a Canon for example. I've got other cameras for better shoots, but for the pocket (and pocketbook), it's great value for the money.

FinePix A500 - Disappointing

Strengths: Picture quality

Weakness: Small LCD display. Bad shutter lag. Very poor battery life.

The problems we found were as follows:

a) Shutter lag - The delay and sometimes inability to focus meant that you quite often missed the picture you wanted - no use when taking pics of children, animals or sporting events.

b) The viewfinder - poor.

c) The LCD display was to small for any real use.

d) The batteries discharged at an alarming rate - within 2-3 days or 20 or so pictures (I believe this was a fault with just this camera)

This is the 4th digital camera I have purchased, and have to say the most disappointing. It was intended for my wife's use, for taking pictures of and for deprived children where she worked. We took it on holiday to familiarise ourselves with it, and took about 100 pictures recharging the batteries 4 times (Ours and borrowed ones)

On returning we took it straight back to the shop and exchanged it for an Olympus SP700 - Although this camera has no viewfinder (something we preferred the difference between them is like chalk and cheese and so much easier to use. We purchased a Fuji camera because of their reputation for quality and colour, this was a sad disappointment.

I am looking for a decent low cost camara. How much did you pay for Olympus SP700? I am comparing the price and the SP700 is about 3 times the price. I can pick up the Fuji FinePix A500 for about $80 at Best Buy. How much did you pay for your SP700?

This camera broke within 2 weeks

Strengths: Took good pics for 2 weeks

Weakness: Flawed zoom

I had this camera for 2 weeks. It was treated well but screen suddenly said "zoom error" and camera will not take pics. In researching this on line, it seems to be a basic flaw with many FUJI cameras (google FUJI "zoom error"). Nobody in Los Angeles will repair this camera under warranty including the "authorized service centers" that the FUJI rep recited to me!!!! I need to send it back to New Jersey at my cost both ways. Stay away from Fuji Cameras!!!
