very good camera

Strengths: Easy to use, no lens cap to lose, price

Weakness: no optical viewfinder, internal memory not very big, only holds 10 pictures at 5.0 MP

I could take good pictures right out of the box. The menu in the camera explains every setting and is easy to use. You almost don't need to read the manual. Taking night pictures requires a steady hand and a little tweaking. This camera would be good to throw in a bag while traveling. An optional 1.0 GB SD card will hold 1100 pictures at 5.0 MP in this camera. I would definitely buy this camera again.

Very nice HP camera, very good for the price

Strengths: Compact, easy to use, very nice looking, 5 MegaPixels, in-camera red-eye removal and other in-camera effects. Easy to use and install software. Up to 12 minutes video recording in-camera.

Weakness: Only 3X zoom, the Video button is very close to the Shutter button and can be pushed together by mistake.

It's a very good quality HP camera and for this price it's a great deal. Works great and I really like it. The only thing I would change is the zoom. In my previous HP camera (HP Photosmart 345) I had up to X5 zoom, but in this one it's only X3.

Overall, it's a very good buy.

outstanding value, easy to use, excellent pics

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, many different easy functions to use, excellent software to edit photos

Weakness: Video functionality only Ok. Snapfish won't allow upload of original file sizes.

The 5 megapixel resolution produces oustanding photos. Whether displaying on the computer or printed on a good HP printer, it really paints a picture of you being there.
The 18x total zoom (3x optical, 6x digital)allows for easy focus on far away objects. The higher resolution allows the digital zoom to truly focus on your specific subject without sacrificing too much quality.

The 1.7" image display allows you to easily frame the pictures you're about to take and allows a quick check of the quality of pictures taken.

The HP Design Gallery functionality allows you to do some basic image editing and enhancements on the camera.

You are able to record video files easily w/ another button on top of the frame. You can then pull still images from those video files. The video file quality is not so great, but this is not intended to do more than share small video files.

The fact that HP bought Snapfish allows easy integration with HP's on-line photo service. This allows you to easily order prints online or share the photos. One low point is the struggle I had uploading photos to Snapfish from the photo software. After some time, I figured out I had to make the image sizes smaller before uploading. The picture quality was hurt in this process, but I guess it's not reasonable to expect to share 5 megapixel pictures easily over the web. I now use the Snapfish website to upload photos; it allows you to uploade full image size.

Recognize that only 16 MB of memory is native to the unit. Look for a great internet or local deal to add an SD memory card for greater photo capacity. I bought a 1Gb card for cheap and can store more photos than I'll ever take on it.

This camera has delivered all I expected plus more. The biggest positive surprise was the ease of use and quality of image editing functionality in the HP software. It is now my only image editing software. The fact it integrates easily into my HP printer software makes it that much more seamless to provide a great picture , printing, and sharing experience.

great

Strengths: parameters

Weakness: a little thick

The parameters are great : 5MP, 2576x1920, 3x Opt, 16MB Internal Memory, SD Slot.

And it's beautiful : the shape, color...

And also it's a product of HP. I think the after sale service will be guaranteed.

HP Photosmart M425

Strengths: Price, features for the price, screen is slightly recessed helping to prevent damage to it

Weakness: video button and picture button are too close

For the price this is a great little camera. As the listed weakness says, the button layout is a little off. The video quality isn't great, but then I was just happy that the video capture included audio (many cameras don't). If you're looking for better features, you have to pay more. Can't argue much with that.

My nine-year-old uses it all the time. If it stands up to him then I really can't complain. If it doesn't, again, the price was right for the feature combination.

Value for Money

Strengths: Excellent 5 mega pixel quality. Extremely easy to use. Simple and easy to navigate controls.

Weakness: Slow response time. it takes while to take picture in night and of moving objects.

This camera is idea for new users entering the digital camera age from the age-old film cameras. Its very simple to use. The controls are less cluttered and easy to use compared to other digital cameras. I could teach my 3 year old to use this effectively. On the negative side, this camera is just not that good in response time. It takes a while to start, switch between modes or prepare for night shots.

Good Product

Strengths: Good Clarity, Clear picture. Good zoom.

Weakness: No memory card from HP. No good shape.

This is a good camera for the price. I bought it from Compusa and came with free printer and SD card. I am satisified with the performance, clarity and zoom of the product. Except the camera is too light weight when compared to other cameras.

A reasonable buy

Strengths: Firstly this is an inexpensive camera. Compact, light, uses only 2 AAA batteries.

Weakness: Slow response while taking photos, On/Off button is too small, Shutter and Video buttons are located too close.

This is a great buy for $79 from Buy.com with a google checkout bonus of $10. I have used this camera for 2 weeks and I'm happy with its performance. The pictures are of reasonable quality. The shutter response is slow. But this is acceptable for the low price. I used the Ultra rechargaeable batteries with this camera and a Kingston 2 GB SD card. The display menu has a great option of displaying many photos at a time. The On/Off button is tiny and I've to use my fingernail to turn on/off the camera. Also, the shutter and video buttons are located too close and my wife pressed the video button by mistake a couple of times. Don't search for a separate SD card slot. Its located in a slot where you insert the batteries. Overall, I'm completely satisfied with the buy for the low price.
