Toshiba PDR-5300 Digital Camera

Strengths: Easy to use, small size, good battery life, very crisp and clear display, 5 MP at unbeatable price

Weakness: quality dependendant on light conditions

I bought a Toshiba PDR 5300 5 MP camera and life could never be better. Many plusses and few - very few minuses and price- ($ 259 including shipping and taxes) is very good. It a small size camers fo its 5 MP capacity. I specially like the display, even though it is small, but very crisp and clear and you can view from 70 degree angle and the picture still looks clear. Even in bright sunlight the display is clear. Battery life is very good and was able to take 70 shots with LCD display on.

The downside it comes with 16 MB SD card so I bought 256 MB SD card and now it is enough capacity for me. The optical zoom of 3X is good but digital zoom is best avoided as it introduces pixelation. Picture quality is mixed bag for me as some pictures have come out excellent and some have been at best adequate, but I beleive. I need to work on setting to take crisp pictures in all light conditions. What I am saying is I have taken all the pcitures so far in point and click mode. I need to work o various settings now on. I have had Nikon coolpix 4300 and even though it is 4 MP in point and click mode, I feel Nikon 4300 gives better results at all times though it is priced higher and is not as small as pdr 5300.

Overall it is good value for money and I would surely recommend. i have earlier used Toshiba PDR 2100 model and as compared this model offers lot may features at much smaller footprint.
