Panasonic LC 50

Strengths: AA batteries, and battery life. Lens, clarity.

Weakness: software, zoom.

I found the pictures to be amazing clarity for a three mega-pixel camera. Great Licia lens. I found that this camera outperformed a lot of other pocket point-and-shoot cameras.

I thought the software provided no benefit. I also thought the zoom could be a little faster. However, I am used to my Canon S2's quick zoom.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC50 Compact Camera - Silver

Strengths: lens quality, optical zoom, macro setting, replaceable AA batteries, standard SD card storage

Weakness: Included software is weak, menu-driven customization controls are awkward. Normal usage does not require these.

The image quality is great--much better than a point and shoot 35mm camera or fixed lens digicam. Pictures look great displayed on the desktop and printed at the photo store. Enlargements to 8x10 are very clear.

The included software is not that great. We use an SD-card holder and freeware to download, sort, and store our pictures on the computer.

The Lumix DMC-LC50 comes stocked with a 3x optical zoom Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT all-glass lens, refracting highly refined images to its 1/2.5-inch, 3.3 megapixel CCD sensor. There is a 1.5-inch, 114,000 pixel LCD screen consuming much of the...
