Leica V-Lux 1Strengths: Outstanding camera. Very easy to use even for a beginner. Weakness: The bundled software CD delivered with the camera is very disappointing. Cheap quality strap. This is my second Leica and I love it. The versatility of this camera is excellent. The pictures I took with this camera are outstanding. However, I have been very disappointed by the CD delivered with this camera. It is written in their marketing brochure "Extensive Software Package" and in fact it is only Photoshop elements version 4.0 and Quicktime. They should have made a small effort to deliver a more up-to-date version of the software. Furthermore, you have to download the camera manuals from the Leica web site if you want them on your computer. Finally the quality of the strap is a little bit cheap. For these reasons I will only give 3 stars, but the camera itself is 5 stars. 84% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

LEICA DOES IT AGAIN!Strengths: Flexibility Ease-of-use Quality Workmanship Flexibility Weakness: Fixed lens Leica continues to produce QUALITY machines and this one is no exception. Beautiful styling, ease-of-use and the feel of sturdy workmanship is very apparent in the V-LUX 1. I bought this (my 4th Leica) as just a take everywhere camera for those spur of the moment opportunities. But, I have been very impressed by the V-LUX 1's versatility. I can set it on auto, hand it to my son and let him take pictures that he can be proud of. On the other hand, I can manually manipulate the settings and "do my own thing" with a more advanced level. I highly recommend the V-LUX 1 to anyone, novice or expert, that truly loves photography and owning QUALITY equipment. 89% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Jan 31, 2007 Well, "Fixed lens" means no zoom, no focus, no... anything. Associated with VERY POORLY QUALITY, specific for very cheap cameras. This is not the case (aka poor quality). The right "word" would be "No(n) inter-changeable lenses".

Going strong and I love it!
Strengths: I agree with the comments made by most of the other users. It had a spec in the lens at one point, not sure how or why, but I was very impressed with the tech service and quick turn to clear it up.
Weakness: It's not easy to hide like many camera's today. And you do want to have a carry bag, too easy to bang it up.
I've had mind for near two years now. I have no reason to change it out for another camera. It does all I need and more. I even took some great video with it this past winter.
