Strengths: Great pictures, sharp images, beautiful colors, numerous settings. Manual controls. Looks nice too.
Weaknesses: All that won't come cheap. The lens does not fully retract so this camera won't fit every pocket. The lens cap feels kinda cheap.
Summary: I love my new D-Lux3. This camera is amazing. I love having control of the exposures. It's simple to adjust f-stops, bracket, or choose any one of the several pre-programmed settings. Or pop over to manual. Video is nice too. Just know that you cannot zoom during a video shot.

Strengths: Manual Operation
Weaknesses: 19mb RAW + 2mb JPEG capture requires a fast SD card
Summary: I was looking for a compact camera to carry around that had the flexibility of manual operation. I did not like carrying around my DSLR. So far this Leica offers what I was looking for. I actually don't plan on using my DSLR anymore now that I have this. The picture quality is good, I shoot in RAW. One issue is that you will need a fast SD card if you plan on shooting in RAW. The camera captures in RAW+JPEG when you set it to RAW, which is rather bothersome since that takes up more space on your card and you have to go in a delete every JPEG image when you go into the digital darkroom. I would recommend staying away from SDHC because they are just too slow. Stick with 133x or 150x SD cards and just carrying a couple around with you because you need the extra speed.

The lens on this camera also make it more difficult to 'throw in a pocket', oh you can get it in there, but you are left with a huge uncomfortable bulge in your pocket.

I enjoy this camera and I'm pleased with the simple quality. Being my first Leica I'm starting to see why some people pay the extra money and are Leica diehards.

Strengths: fully manual feathers
Weaknesses: can't find a case
Summary: The new Leica D-Lux 3 is the out and about photographers stylish sophisticated camera, the manual features allow you to have full control so you can satisfy all your photographeric needs.

Its superior image stabilizer allow you to capture images the way they were meant to be captured, and the image quality is breath taking.

This is a camera you can't go wrong with, not to mention the price.

I very much enjoy using this camera.

Strengths: Saves files in raw format. Has manual focus. 16:9 aspect ratio.
Weaknesses: none.
Summary: I decided on the d-lux 3 over the c-lux because of the fact that this camera saves in raw format, has manual focus, greater manual control over images, has a fast switch 16:9, 4:3, and 3:2. Also supports the new sd 2.0 standard... so get your high capacity cards on!!
