HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: This is an amazing camera. It's tiny, it's powerful, it's just great! Weakness: None that I can think of. This camera is just amazing. Its photos are beautiful and I can even print out 8.5 x 11 full page prints that look like they were professionally done. I highly recommend this camera to anyone. There's even 32 megs onboard. The Video feature of this camera is also great. I can take small video clips. Once I get a larger sized SD card (1 GB) I plan on making better use of this. 100% of readers found this review helpful. HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: quality images, easy to use menus Weakness: minorly slow between pics This camera is overall great. The picture on the lcd could stand to be a little bit better (before picture taken), but isn't bad, about average with other cameras. The pictures look great, and it is really easy to use. With the dock the camera rocks, w/o is still good. The menus and options are effective. It is minorly slow between pics (3-4 secs estimated) but not really that noticeable unless using special focus/shooting measures. Overall great cam. 100% of readers found this review helpful. HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: Crisp, sharp, great image quality. Easy control use/manipulation. Easy learning curve. Great size. Great price. Weakness: Time lag between clicking button and photo being taken. Software learning. Difficult to take self-photos. This camera is really quite exceptional. It is the perfect size, in that it is large enough to take one-handed pictures, and small enough to weigh very little and take up very little room. The pictures come out clean, crisp, and sharp. It has a very easy learning curve, since all of the controls are easily accessible and understandable. The instructions are very easy to understand, as well. The only problems I may have with it are that the time it takes to take a picture after pressing the button is quite long. When taking pictures of animals, if the bright red "flash is comming" light doesn't scare them away, the amount of time it takes for the picture to actually take will give them ample time to run. It is also quite blurry in very dark settings. Also, I haven't quite gotten the hang of using the picture software that is included (but you can always just use your own favorite software if needed). It is also hard to take self-photos, since the LCD doesn't swivel, and neither does the lens. Other than these minor problems, this camera is great for beginners, and for a price that outbeats most, if not all, competitors. I did not give it 5 stars, since this is my first digital camera, and my amount of comparison is limited. 97% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: Great overall photo quality. Intuitive menu system. Long Battery Life Weakness: No manual shutter speed setting. Takes better pictures than other cameras in its class. Almost every image has correct exposure and focus. Exceptional image quality, four star compression useful for practically uncompressed pictures. Panorama mode works well, and really helps for taking good panoramas. The lack of shutter speed setting can be annoying in museums and such, but most people wouldn't know how to use it anyway. 95% of readers found this review helpful. HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: -Small Size, easy to use, Help menu built in, excellent picture quality, great price Weakness: Relatively Small Screen, HP Software sucks I have always wanted a digital camera. This camera is great for all photographers, from the ones who only take pictures occasionally, amateurs, and professionals. I enjoy the macro feature, which allows people to take close-up pictures. The picture quality turns out to be excellent with vibrant colors. The zoom is a little less than what I'm used to, but this is partially compensated by the great detail even when zoomed in. I like the built-in comprehensive help menu, and the tips for how to make pictures better. Although there are better cameras on the market, you will not find one for a better price than this. (Plus, bundle it to a printer for another $50 dollars off.) 93% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: 5.1 mps, seems well made(I liked the stainless steel front cover), lots of good options(like the adaptive lighting) good layout of the controls, comes with a recharable battery and easy to use. Weakness: slow image possesing(alot of waiting for the the computer to cetch up), not very many manual options and noticable grain to the images. I already exchaged it for a canon S1 IS, manly for the image quality on the HP but I think I going to go for the canon A75 or A80 if the A85 was available that would be the one for me. other then the small weaknesses on the HP I would highly recommend it. 68% of readers found this review helpful. HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: compact easy to hold design As with most of cameras in this class, I dont like that you have to hold the button down, then depress the button again to take the picture. By the time you do this, you missed the moment. I saw an expensive Nikom camera that didnt work that way. 58% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Dec 21, 2004 This is a very common feature on just about all digital cameras and most of the SLR cameras. The purpose of half press is to for the camera to focus and to show you the focuse points/brackets. Thus, if you decide that the camera is focusing on the wrong subject, you can manually adjust it or lock-in the focus area and then move onto take picture of the object that you want to take.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: Fast. Nice menus. Weakness: Lens mechanism is weak and breaks easily. Pictures are not satisfactory; harsh with a cold quality to them. I have had a few digital and many film cameras and this one gives the worst color repro. HP does have good warranty support, however pictures should have a warm and realistic quality to them. These, from the r707, are too mechanical and are easily spotted as being digital. For the money. I would strongly recommend something else. My samsung 210se 2 meg takes much better pictures and they sell for about 50 bucks. 38% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: Samll, compact, good picture quality! Weakness: Kind heavy for a compact camera. This is definitely one of the best digital camera for everyday use out there. Got this one dirt cheap from Office Depot. Can not complain with that amount of money for a 5 M camera. The picture quality is far better than I expected. I really recommend to buy this compact camera for your everyday use. A little bit too heavy for a compact camera comparing with SONY and Canon's. HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: Easy use, high resolution, and great picture quality Weakness: Optical zoom Compared with the old HP m305 camera i have, this 5MP digital camera is a big improvement by providing instant beautiful and crisp images, especially in low light conditions. The menu design is quite straight-forward and the in-box software is wonderful.Would be perfect if it has higher optical zoom capability. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact CameraStrengths: Love the image quality, even when you zoom for a photo, it even tells you what MP you're at when you zoom. Weakness: Wish it let you zoom when you're recording. It's a great camera for the price! It's also great for those novices, it tells you what things you can do differently to make your picture even better. It also has an automatic setting and the camera decides everything. But, I've enjoyed trying things on my own to try and learn how to take better pictures. Very happy I bought this. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart R707
We've just finished reviewing the HP PhotoSmart R707, and I'm finding myself having distinctly mixed feelings. On the one hand, it captured good-looking photos with accurate color, even if its images lacked the "punch" delivered by the deliberate over-saturation of most consumer digicams currently on the market. I also really liked HP's "Adaptive Lighting" technology, even if it can result in... Top

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart R707 Compact Camera
Strengths: Very compact and very cool digital camera.
Weakness: Do not include the wallet that can protect such a cool camera. I do not want it be broken.
This is the one that I love very much. It is very compact and you can even put it in one pocket. And also it come with the AC adapter that can be used to charge the battery. It is good because we do not need buy the battery any more. And also I like its manual focus function. I have not used a digital camera with manual focus. And also it comes with many useful software. And most important thing is the fantastic picture quality.
