Pentax Optio MX 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: 10x Optical Zoom, Ergonomic Design, PictBridge, LCD Monitor

Weakness: 16MB SD Card

This is our first digital camera, so we really cannot compare picture quality to anything comparable. However, we have tried taking photos with several different modes and sizes/qualities and so far they are all very crisp and clear all the way up to the 10x optical zoom limit. We haven't gone into the digital zoom yet, so we don't know how camera shake affects those. Downloading to PC is very straight forward and the included software CD is adaquate for beginners and hobbiests. The sheer number of features of this camera is mind-boggling, but taking quick, no-brainer photos and videos is very easy. All of the advanced features are easily accessed by menus on the crisp and functional LCD monitor. I would recommend a high-speed SD card for taking high resolution or high quality MPEG-4 videos. Overall, I would say that this is a very attractive and robust Still/Movie camera. A very good initial entry into the category by Pentax.

Strengths: 0mm Super Macro, 10X, 640x480 movie. compactness.

Weakness: no optical viewfinder, slow focusing, awkward position of buttons.

Wow, had it for less than 5 hours. Ordered it Sunday night, call to cofirm order (electricsam's) Monday morning, Fedex ground delivered on Tuesday afternoon. 0mm SuperMacro is so useful, I use this camera for up-close shoots of people's mouth. Slow focusing is the biggest drawback, but for studio/non-action situation this is perfect. This is my fifth DCamera purchase, again 0mm SuperMacro is excellent.

Strengths: low light,zoom ,easy operational manual even for dummies,

Weakness: not ergonomic start button,

i try almost everything over last week. picture capture great. movies quality for me quite impresive even i used old 256 sd card. 256 gives me only 10 minute of movies 640 x 480 .
however i find button fot picture and movies capture are place so odd. the best way to take picture end up using both hand to get the stabilty when capture picture. i dont think this is for lefthanded ,if you are. One more thing is that you have to press a little bit harder just to capture picture. i would love if they also put remote control feature to ease the button use .
movies format is mov or quicktime. the clarity of the movies as if i watched minidv . about batteries dont worries you will use up all you memories (movies) . Almost 180 minute. but there is not direct charger to the unit. you have to take it off first. i think the should have provide wire for ac adaptor (this is optional). one more thing dont point this at incoming traficc they might think you are a cop.

Strengths: i think this camera has alot to offer.great pictures,alot of different filters.9 different picture settings,10x zoom, there are so many different thinge you can do with camera i still haven't figured

Weakness: low lite conditions with the camcorder.

excellent product for the money!!!!! way to go pentax!!! you have a customer for life with me..this is the first pentax product iv'e bought and i can tell you it won't be the last..it is easy to use, light weight, compact, and so far dependable..the memory card it comes with doesn't alow alot of pictures but what do you exspect for the little money you pay for it..over all i have to say excellent camera..i have spent weeks of going over reviews to check the best camera for under 200.00 and im confident iv'e found it..go out and buy one you won't be dissapointed..

Pentax Optio MX 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: low light exposures without flash, myriad of settings, easy to use on auto, very light and compact

Weakness: no image stabilization, small knobs, no viewfinder, slow focusing (especially with movies in low light)

I have used this camera on still, for movies, for sound recording, under low light and outside. One of the best for half depressing the shutter release for controlled exposure. A plethora of settings that take some practice if you want to take advantage of all that the camera offers: white balance, exposure, manual focusing, etc. I have not used all, but I will keep trying things. I took Christmas lights (no flash) at twilight, indoor party pictures, outdoor nature shots, etc. with very good results. Movies of 40 minutes are a breeze with 1 gig card. For my $185 cost from Digital Megastore and my Newegg 1 gig card for $73, I am all set! Flash does work well. Saved movies to a VCR (VHS) and to my Mac computer. I really like this camera, especially for the money and size.

Strengths: Small size, great price, good low light pictures, 10x optical zoom, good audio recording, panorama picture option

Weakness: slow shutter speed, unusual shape, view finder is small

This is a great camera to own especially considering the price. You get everything that cameras double the price will give. It is very smal and easy to carry. It has 10x optical zoom and there is not much shaking even at higher zooms. Also it has very good audio recording capabilities. What i really like about the camera was its capability of taking picture with panorama assit. You can take many pictures and join them to make one.
On the flip side shutter speed is very slow. Also it does not have image stabalizer.
But totally it is a very good camera for the price paid.

Strengths: zoom, compact, worth every penny, lot of features

Weakness: learning curve is high, no view finder

this cam is the best u can get for 200$ range, not exactly a no brainer. Takes a while to know all the features. zoom is excellent, images are crisp. pretty impressive video, the video button positioning is bad. overall, its an excellent product for the price(209$).
