This camera sucks

Strengths: small size, quick start up time, easy to bring everywhere

Weakness: sucks at low light pics

camera is good for daytime snapshots, and it's size is very acceptable.

I bought this because as a college student, I wanted a small camera I could take to parties and the bar and get good shots of me and my friends. Not with this camera I wasn't.

This dang thing WILL NOT take pictures in low light. I dont mean it has bad coloring, or overexposed subjects...I mean the autofocus WOULD NOT focus on anything, and any pictures turn out completely blury. It is so frutstrating when youre trying to get a pic of some friends having a good time, and then they hold a pose for 30 seconds while the stupid thing tries to focus, and then you just give up. You wanna take pictures in the day, its fine. Anything else, no way. Save yourself frustration and buy a better camera

Small Camera, Great Value

Strengths: Small and lightweight, great versatility for basic shooting, thoughtful quality Konica Minolta build and components, neat non-telescoping optical zoom lens. Manual is easy to read and understand.

Weakness: Small LCD, comes with standard AA batteries, lens is in unusual top corner position (watch those fingers!).

So far, I like this camera a lot, especially for the price I found it for. I wanted a cheap camera with good build and photo quality, and this one fits the bill. It's small, cool-looking, and easy to use. It's likely not high-end enough for the enthusiast, but it hits the sweet spot in my budget-conscious mind. Now all I need are those 2500 mAh quick-recharge AA batteries!

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31 3.2 Megapixel Compact...

Strengths: Small size, uses standard AA batteries, 3X optical zoom with acceptable image quality, low price.

Weakness: Lacks AF assist light, screen hard to see in sunlight.

I was looking for an inexpensive camera to keep handy for those unexpected photo opportunties and I did not want to spend more than $200. I looked at all the competition (Canon, Sony etc) and they all cost considerably more and required the manufacturers custom battery. I hesitated to buy this camera because of comments about poor picture quality and the hard to use 5 way controler. First, let me state unambigiously, there controler is just a mini joy stick and very easy to use. Second, while this camera suffers from the problem that all cameras have if they lack an auto focus (AF) assist lamp, it will focus in most normal light situations indoors, though it might take a few seconds. Also, the LCD screen will be hard to see in bright sunlight. Having stated these restrictions, I am very pleased with the camera. It fits into my shirt pocket, uses AA batteries and takes a good snap shot at a very reasonable price ($155 delivered). A good camera for my purpose and definitely recommended.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31 3.2 Megapixel Compact...

Strengths: compact size and nice appearence

Weakness: samll LCD

It's a quite good compact digital camera though the LCD is a little bit small. I like its compact size, light weight, nice appearence and Fast startup. Anyway, 3 MP CCD don't give high resolution picture.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31 3.2 Megapixel Compact...

Strengths: Size, Easy to use.

Weakness: Comes with regular batteries and no battery charger. SD cards are costlier than other memory cards.

This camera is small, lightweight and simple to use. The 3.2MP is adequate for an everyday user. Easy to use even for a novice. It is a good value for the price.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31 3.2 Megapixel Compact...

The slide button which toggles the feature between taking a movie or taking a still picture was switched on to Movie without my realizing. I therefore ended up taking movies.

My problem is that, I am unable to play these movies on my coputer. I am unaware of which software to use. Active Movie Controll does not support the file format for the file with the extension ***.Mov . Do you have any suggestions?

Yes, this camera does take movies that are playable. It is .mov format which requires Apple's Qucktime software which is avaliable free of charge from apple.com

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31 3.2 Megapixel Compact...

Strengths: small, easy to operate, use std batteries, sd card

Weakness: no charger

This camera is very small, light and so easy to operate you don't need to start with studing the manual. Menus are easy to understand and logic. Battery life is ok but it's good to buy rechargable and charger (extra $20-30). At this size and price it's a nice 'have-always-with-me' camera. I have a 128MB card and it takes about 70 pics with highest resolution/fine setting. Printed pictures (at Kodak) are very good, you can see tiny pixels when you check the picture from few inches distance but from a normal viewing distance it's very good. I had chance to check the Xt modell and it seems to be a bit more sofisticated in design so it is a tuff chioce...

Konica Minolta DiMAGE X31 Digital Camera Review

Konica Minolta's latest "X" series subcompact digicam, the DiMAGE X31 offers 3 megapixels and generally good image quality in a very compact package for street prices as low as $150. (!) It works great in daylight, but I found significant limitations under dim lighting. A good option for an inexpensive "pocket" camera for daytime use, but not the best choice for after-dark photography.
