Olympus CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom Digital CameraStrengths: excellent lens quality. f/1.8 aperture for low light. accurate flash for indoor shots. good color balance. Weakness: menu system not so convinient, especially for manual mode. Overall, a fantastic digicam for the money. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Olympus CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom Digital CameraStrengths: Great photo quality for up to 8 x 10 photos. Easy to operate, but the menu system takes a little getting used to. Overall, a great camera for under $ 350. I'm very pleased with this camera. Weakness: Lens cover is cheesy, and has a tendency to fall off. Auto focus is a little slow. Had to buy NiMH batteries for it. A great entry level camera, but with some fairly "professional" features. A good, bright, fast lens. Easy to use in "auto" mode. The included photo editing software is adequate. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Olympus CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom Digital CameraStrengths: Good in low light. Great Value! Weakness: Battery drainer. No audio on movies. Only 8mb smart media card. I found if you buy rechargable batteries and 128mb smart media card, this is the best valued camera I have found! Great quality pictures at a low price. Read the reviews at cnet.com and zdnet.com and you'll see. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Olympus CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom Digital CameraStrengths: Very versatile -- you can use the program-auto-everything mode for good snapshots, or take over with manual control of apertures, shutter speed, etc. Also the ability to hook up an external flash. Weakness: lens is basic point-and-shoot quality -- not bad, not great. Autofocus is kinda slow; not the best choice for action photos. For the price, a very competitive camera. I've gotten some excellent 8x10 and 8x12 enlargements (done through an online photo provider) that were pretty much identical in look to 35mm photos -- along with a few that looked pretty poor when blown up. Overall, I'm well pleased with it, although I'm looking to move up to a 3000-series Olympus real soon. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Olympus CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom Digital CameraStrengths: For what I paid for this camera it was an amazing buy. Picture quality is excellent and making prints up to 8 X 10 is no problem. Great camera. Weakness: The menuing is a little funky until you get used to it but it's no big deal. I really don't have any complaints about this camera. I've had it for a little over a month and the picture quality is really amazing. I paid $288 for this camera and couldn't have asked for a better digital camera than what I got. I am very impressed with the camera as I'm sure you will be too. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Olympus CAMEDIA C-2040 Zoom Digital Camera
Strengths: Great picture quality; lots of options for different picture qualities, exposures, etc.; adjustable flash (factory setting was kinda bright); AA batteries are lasting forever; good value
Weakness: almost too many picture options; menu system is a little more complicated than it needed to be; included lithium batteries didn't last long and cost a ton to replace
I was not exactly sure of what to look for when I decided to buy a digital camera. After doing a little bit of straight spec comparison, the Camedia 2040-Z seemed a great choice for the money, though I knew I'd want a larger memory card than the included 8 MB SmartMedia card. I had originally ordered it to go along with me on my family vacation; it arrived just in time so I was able to test it's abilities right away. I came back from San Francisco with nearly 80 high-quality (1024x768) pictures that will let me remember that vacation for a long time to come. Another reason that I chose this camera instead of a higher-resolution model was because I knew I'd be doing less printing and more electronic proliferation of my pictures so it works well that I can take so many great looking pictures in a usable resolution for web-work and emailing. It's a great camera and I have little doubt that I will stick with Olympus in the future.
