Pretty good deal!!Strengths: - really compact - great on-screen display - good features Weakness: - small Mp (3.2) - a second or two delay (not good for action shots) I am pretty pleased with the camera. I just wish it would be easier to take action shots. I wanted to shoot my friends and myself snowboarding, but the delay makes it really hard to time. The picture quality is pretty good for 3.2 Mega pixels and, I really love the on screen display options and the interface. Now, though you shouldn't pay more that like $220 for this camera because you can for sure find better deals. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Small, thin, light, excellent picture quality, user interface, SD memory, great video modes Weakness: Girlie looking, weak speaker This is my 3rd Canon Powershot camera. I started with the S100, moved to the S200, then to the SD200. Each has been excellent. This one is what I have been waiting for - smaller, faster, lighter, thinner than the others. It has 3.2 MP which is more than enough for 99% of picture takers. It has 3X zoom which is great for such a small camera. Most importantly it takes great pictures, which is one of the biggest reasons I have stuck with Canon. The user interface is great, allowing you to easily change settings if you want. Or you can leave it on automatic and still take great pics. The slideshow mode is great combined with the cable plugged into your TV, which will cycle through the pics and play the videos, with sound. The camera itself has a little speaker for playback on the go, but it's very quiet. The LCD screen is excellent quality. There are several video modes, including 640x480 at 30 fps (TV resolution) and 320x200 at 60 fps (very fast frame for capturing quick motion). There are other video modes too. It takes SD cards which are available up to 1 gig and probably higher and are very cheap. I recommend a faster card, like 60X, if you take videos. I've heard good things about Kingmax 1 gig 60X, which is selling at newegg.com for $65. You can upload pics to a Windows XP computer without installing any software at all, or you can install the provided software for more flexibility. Canon's PhotoRecord software is excellent for printing pictures, putting together collages, adding text, etc. Great camera all around. 97% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: great images w/ DigicII processor. unlimited HQ vid. recordings. very clear and fluid big lcd screen!!! Weakness: smaller lens = more red eye. cheesy battery door cover. with the new Digic II image processor, canon has really outdone itself with the image quality while minimizing the "shutter-lag" time. even at low light and for those quick "once-in-a-lifetime" shots, the camera performs really well. the 2.0" lcd helps a ton for people who have a hard time reading and looking at the small screens on other cameras. and for the first time in canon's history, they have unlimited video recording (w/ a high speed SD-card of course!) and its in HQ too. at the sticker price of around $299, its well worth every penny. but be sure to pick up an LCD screen cover though because the lcd screen requires a lot of protection!!! 96% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Small Package, Big Display, Good Video Weakness: 16mb card is a waste of breath to speak about, too small for anything I am really happy with this little fella. The battery life is good. The picture quality is excellent, and the video is acutally useable. I bought a 1GB sandisk SD card from pricewatch and it works great with the video. 1GB gets a little under 9 minutes. On the upside it holds over 1000 pics. For the first time I have considered that there may be such a thing as too small. Most often, it is nice to have such a small device, but I occasionally feel like I might drop it, or lose because it is so small. I consider this the right kind of problem to have. The auto mode seems to be pretty good, and the panoramic mode is particularly cool. It's a great little camera, especially for the price. 90% of readers found this review helpful. Good Camera but protect the screen.Strengths: Good picture quality, great digital video capibilities, super compact, Good Battery Life, beautiful LCD. Good Customer Support Weakness: Screen as Delicate as an Egg-Shell. Red-Eye is frequent due to flash proximity to lens. Overall, this camera takes great pictures. 4x5 prints are as good as film prints. Startup is fast & there is little shutter lag. As good as it gets for a super-compact. It's a good camera for everyday shooting. 90% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: small, thin, light, clear LCD, great pictures Weakness: LCD is prone to scratching the first digital camera i ever bought, the powershot sd200 is worth every cent. it takes great pictures with almost no lag, making for a true point-and-shoot subcompact camera. there are plenty of manual controls too to please even moderately advanced users. pics taken in low light still appear clear and bright and well-exposed with just minimal noise. downloading pics are a snap, as there is no need for any special software if you`re using windows xp. the only niggle i have is that the large LCD gets easily scratched. but really, that`s not a big problem if you take good care of it. which i`m sure you would too. 86% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Great color and clarity in images. 640x480 video at 30 frames per second. Easy to use. Weakness: Everyone wants it. Set it down on a table for 30 seconds at a wedding, and YOINK!!! (Stolen) For a normal user, this camera is the best on the market. Most people dont need more than 3.2 megapixels anyways, unless they want to crop every photo they take or have a 30" monitor. No other super compact camera, aside from other Canons has such high quality video. The others either have 320x480 resolution, 15 frames per second, or are limited to say 15 second bursts. This one has it all. I was suprised with how well the pictures turned out. I had a 1GB high speed SD card and was so spoiled with how fast it could take pictures, I dont even want to use my Sony Cybershot anymore. But I have to....... Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Amazingly fast DigitII chip with virtually zero lag time between shots. Excellent image clarify and color rendition. Eye-popping Digital Macro to amaze everyone. Petite camera built for ladies. Weakness: Too small for big hands. No place to anchor middle finger & thumb and tends to slip off easily. Delicate mechanics may not substain a 5 ft fall. Screen is not scratch resistant. No AA battery support Excellent technology yet too small and delicate for big hands. A slightly bigger and rugged model with DIGIT II, finger grip, AA battery support, scratch resistant screen, bigger screen, voice recorder, and date/time stamp at all resolution will certainly sell like hot cakes. A built-in alarm clock will not be a bad idea. Good job Canon ! 77% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Really small size, Lightweight, Good movie mode, big lcd screen Weakness: Bit more red-eye than usual, Small size SD card included I've had other canon digicams in the past and this one was a joy to use too...especially due to its ultra-portable nature. However, the small size of the SD card included that you will have to shell out some more to really be able to use it properly. 77% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot SD200 3.2 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Size, Speed, Movies I loved everything about this camera with the thing was working, that is. Weakness: known E18 Defect 2 weeks, about 30 minutes of total use. All of a sudden I get a e18 error. Did a google search and it is a known Canon problem for a lot of their products. How dare they release another model with this defect. I can understand a defect here and there, but this is blantant problem that is in every camera and Canon has refused to address it model after model. I used to praise this company and products, but no more. How dare they. The store I bought it from was local and are taking it back. I will use my money for a Canon competitor this time around. 59% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Nov 3, 2005 Ahhhhhhh! I've just become another victim of the infamous Canon E18 error. I was not aware of the E18 error until on Tuesday after some normal use on Monday for some Halloween photo shooting. Then I read many horror stories on the internet about the E18 error.

Canon SD200
The 3-megapixel Canon PowerShot SD200 is the "little brother" to the 4-megapixel SD300 that we reviewed a little while ago. Apart from the difference in sensor size, features and functions are essentially identical between the two cameras, the most visible difference being the SD200's aluminum body, vs the SD300's more solid-feeling stainless steel. If you're willing to accept a slightly less... Top

Low-end model delivers good performance, video
Strengths: Small size, light, better video than most, decent picture quality, SD memory, intuitive, sleek
Weakness: Red-eye, blur in dim lighting, better cameras now available
This digital elph along with its brother the SD300 were the first ultracompacts from Canon on the SD line. After using the camera for a year, I really enjoyed it - picture quality was quite good, unless in dimly light indoors (frequent blur). The video was revolutionary, one of the first ultracompacts to have 640x480 resolution at 30 fps. It was like going from video phone to a portable DVD player (slight exaggeration). Who this is for: a person with a very small budget or who wants a secondary camera for everyday accessibility. If you have the extra $, go for an SD550 or higher. My LCD had scratches but never broke. Never experienced any problems with the camera mechanically or otherwise. This is more of a strength of Canon than anything.
