Strengths: High quality pictures and lots of settings of settings and features. It has point and shoot settings as well as lots of custom options.
Weaknesses: Pictures in the HyPict and uncompressed tiff take a long time to save.
Summary: The Epson 3100z takes high quality pictures and is solidly built. It takes pictures that are better or as good as any camera I have seen. It's wide range of settings combinded with it's automatic settings make it a good choice for any one.

There are a few things that are incorrect in the stats of this camera. This website says it uses AAA batterys, it really uses 4AA. Also it has a 3.3MP CCD the 4.8MP pictures are interpolated. The quality of the interpolated pictures is great however it takes along time to process.

Strengths: Fast (Most Important) Lens with F2.0-2.5 3X Zoom, 34mm wide. All exposure modes available for users. Hot-Shoe (but not really sophisticated). Use of AA-Type Batteries. Sound recording with shots.
Weaknesses: 1. Firmware has some bugs - it does hang up with unknown reasons. 2. The Strobe flashes two times (not for anti-red eye) at every shot could make the total output lower.
Summary: 2002-03-13 23:26:38 1. Designed for more advanced users like me as well as new ones. 2. That's why I bought it (also for its fast "EPSON" Lens). 3. I dissembled and compared with a SONY DSC-S70 "Carl Zeiss" Lens to confirm that both mechanical compositions are from the same OEM (Canon?). 4. However, I suppose that the Multiple-Coatings are totally different for two. 5. Results - Zeiss is really sharper than EPSON with much lesser chromatic aberation and flare!

Strengths: Excellent Pictures, easy to use, and fast
Weaknesses: No AC adaptor included
Summary: I have taken hundreds of pictures both indoors and outdoors. I have printed out the pictures taken at the second highest level of resolution and then printed them on the Epson Photo printer, the result were the same as with my 35 MM camera! The software works flawless on both my Macintosh and PC. I would reccomment this camera to anyone.

5 Star ReviewAs just a point and shoot camera it is simply grea ...
Strengths: Great camera, comes with a Carl Zeiss lens and has a lens adapter for filters and other lenses. It is very well built.
Weaknesses: No rechargeable batteries come with the camera.
Summary: As just a point and shoot camera it is simply great. For more advanced features it does as much or more than I am capable of. The pictures and colors are as good as any Nikon or Olympus camera.
