D-590 Zoom Digital CameraStrengths: It is small and easy to handle Weakness: I have found no weaknesses yet. My niece has a Olympus Digital Camera and she always buys the best of everything. She gets on her computer and checks out everything before she buys anything. I had a Vivicam 355 camera and I never had much luck with it. The part that holds the picture card broke . I figured it would cost me to much to have it fixed so I found the Olympus D-590 Zoom Digital Camera met all of my needs and seems to be very easy to use .I am going to a 60th Anniversery party this next week end and I will take many pictures with my new camera. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Olympus 590 digital cameraStrengths: Low noise rugged construction built in lens cap 3X optical zoom Records short quicktime movies with sound Weakness: Uses proprietary battery no AA's No Optical viewfinder only the 1.8" viewer I picked this camera up for a very nice price at Sam's Club. I purchased it for my daughter to use. The price was better than the low resolution Hasbro digital camera. It has a real optical zoom not just digital which is uncommon among sub $100.00 digital cameras. It also has a built in lens cap very handy for young children. The only downside is the use of a proprietary battery. I have a Canon S2 that uses AA's and it is easy to find replacement batteries. Otherwise I cannot really complain that much the picture quality is good for a 4 megapixal camera. Olympus D-590 Zoom
The Olympus D-590 Zoom is the latest and greatest in Oly's D-series lineup, offering more resolution, a bigger LCD screen, and a nice metal body over its D-580 predecessor, but dropping the previous model's optical viewfinder. Strengths: Excellent picture quality, shot modes and zoom range that everyone needs, large back window and clearly defined buttons, compact size and light weight.
Weakness: I wish I could have larger zoom when I was using it, but it would add size and weight.
I was hesitating to buy a digital camera because there are too many choices and I was very much confused about what I wanted. After I borrowed one and used it during my 2-week long vacation trip, I decided this was the one for me. It puts all the most common requirements for everyday use. So I purchased one and I am sure I will enjoy it!
