Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Small, lightwieght, takes good pictures. Weakness: People must be perfectly still for picture. It takes like 3 seconds after you push the button until the picture is actually taken. By then your kids have moved or stopped doing what was so cute at the time. It is very frustrating. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Take good pics. Good looking camera. Use AA battery. Weakness: Noise problem, weak flash light, takes too long to "recharge" the flash light. I have to question for the people who have this camera. When I turn it on and set it to AUTO mode, the camera will make noises (sound like a broken radio, you have to put your ear near the LCD to hear it), and the picture showing in the LCD will be blurry a little for a second. If I leave on a table (not moving it), the noise will stop. If I move it, the noise will appear again. It doesnt have this problem in Manual mode or other modes. I returned this camera twice and still having this problem. Please let me know if your camera does the same thing or is it just me. Thanks. Otherwise, its a very good 4M camera for less than $400. Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Compact design, 3X f2.8 zoom lens, manual functions, 2nd LCD on top, built-in lens protector, 2AA or 1 CR-V3 batteries, histogram display, movies with sound, subject tracking auto focus. Weakness: No added flash capability, no zoom in macro, no focus assist light, no add on lenses or filters, only 16MB flash memory included, battery and memory doors a bit flimsy. Minolta has done it again! The F100 is the logical next step in a line of inexpensive but feature packed digicams for the amateur and pro-sumer photographer. Unlike the S404, the F100 has full manual functions including aperture priority & shutter speed priority modes. With easy menus to negotiate, you can be using this 6.7 ounce super compact 4MP dream like a pro right out of the box. Current price points around 350 make it a great bargain too. Compared to other platforms in this class, the F100 has more features for less money. While the F100 truly is a super compact and will fit easily into any pocket, it feels substancial in the hand and is made entirely of brushed stainless steel. No plastic parts except the access doors noted above. Solid, loaded, and very competitively priced. Highly recommended for first time buyers or for advanced amateurs who want lots of creative control in a small package. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Small, compact, lightweight. 4 MP. Easy to use for beginners. QUALITY Pictures! Records video & voice too. Weakness: Lack of accessories: no case or AC Adapter. Awesome little camera that provides great quality pictures. Auto-mode makes it REAL easy for beginners. There are a ton of features, but as long as you have the camera in auto-mode, it is just point-and-shoot. I read that this puppy guzzles batteries, so I got some Powerex 2000 mAh rechargeable AA batteries. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Tough construction, endless picture modes, image quality Weakness: no filter/lens converters This is one bad l'il camera (and by "bad" I really mean awesome). There are four compression levels and four image sizes giving sixteen total image scenarios. This camera has everything packed into a tight package. Here are just a few of the endless features: self-timer, multi-flash modes, ISO sensitivies of 100, 200, 400, 800, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, manual, Program AE, macro, portrait, sport, night, landscape, sunset, b&w, contrast adj., color saturation adj., sharpness adj., multi-segment metering, spot-metering, exposure bracketing (3 different +/- EV levels), single-shot AF, continuous AF, white-balance (automatic, preset, custom), bulb exposure??!!... The list goes on and on till the break o' dawn! And I haven't even started discussing the video and audio recording capabilities and the playback features. You cannot go wrong with this camera (it's good for newbies and photo enthusiasts alike). Great bang for the buck and plus it's a Minolta which has brand equity in photography history (like Nikon, Canon, Leica, etc.). I bought the camera and a 64 MB Secure Digital memory card for about $400!!! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Excellent image quality. Good build quality -metal body and steel tripod mount. Diverse manual controls- shutter, aperture and iso settings. Long exposures are good with little noise so far. Remote. Weakness: Battery life! This really lets down the camera. No AC adaptor or charger included. Included lithuim CR-3 battery lasts a few hours. Alkalines last 5 mins max. No R-C for bulb setting. A great overall 4MP DC, image quality, build, ease of use and features are excellent. Strong for both manual and point and shoot imagery. Good optional extras (but are a must to score its top rating). Long exposures are strong and noise seems to be low so far. The only major let down is batterys, this a big problem - alkalines are useless and rechargable NiMH/Lithium's are an absolute must. No AC adpator or charger so studio work and downloading is limited. The bulb setting is useless as the optional remote is in-compatible with it (strange but true). Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Four megapixel--Small--Light--Good battery life--fast focus--Price! Weakness: Small memory card included at purchase. Optical viewfinder area is less than actual photo. This is one great little camera. It is like a 35mm point and shoot and the quality of the pictures is just fantastic. The F-100 has a good solid feel and a quality finish. I have owned Minoltas all my life and they are a good company. Very good service and support. The camera is easy to use and very responsive like a 35mm. So far every shot was in focus. I bought it on my vacation in the caribbean and had no time to read the manual. All the shots came out great. I never edited any of the shots. I just printed them. Battery life seems good with the lithium or regular AA's. If you want a good point and shoot camera that doesn't weigh much, focuses well, and one you can carry in your pocket, put this camera on your short list. I love it! Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...Strengths: Small, compact. Great pictures. Full manual control. Easy to use. Great all around camera. Weakness: Noisy pictures in low light. LCD unreadable in bright sunlight. Great all around camera. Unbelievable pictures for such a small, pocket-size camera. You probably want to use regargable batteries - much cheaper. Full automatic mode works very well. Also has manual mode where you can pick and choose between auto and manual settings. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Konica Minolta DiMAGE F100 4 Megapixel Compact...
Strengths: Image Quality, Sturdy Construction, Compact Size
Weakness: File Naming, Time/Date Change, Video Mode, Battery Life
I've had this camera a little over a year and while I've gotten a lot of great use out of it there are a few big problems that keep me from saying I'd buy it again.
1) Time/Date Settings - EVERYTIME I change the batteries (which is quite often) it loses the time/date data. It doesn't really matter much since I just take the pictures and dump them to my computer with the date on the folder, but when you have a bunch of pictures and you aren't sure when they are from, they almost all look like they were taken around midnight on Jan 1st.
2) File Naming - Same as above, the IMGxxxxx maning convention resets each time you replace the card/batteries. What a pain
3) Video Mode - The video mode is pretty neat, but the time constraints and the tin-can sounding audio both hurt
4) Battery Life - I have 8 Monster 2000 Batteries...and it's a good thing too because you go through them like crazy. This little camera only takes 2 batteries at a time and it doesn't take long to go through them at all.
Having said all that, it is NOT a bad camera by any means. For the price and the high quality pictures it will take for you, it's well worth it. The size and ruggedness are also huge plusses as I've just stuck the camera in my pocked and gone on rollercoasters and everything and never had a single problem with the camera...it's heavy, but that's because there is a lot of super-sturdy metal on the casing.
I love this camera and while I just got a new PowerShot S1 IS, I plan on keeping this one forever as my "carry around" camera as I don't have to worry about breaking it or the lense or anything. If this review sounds mostly negative, it's because there are so many positives that it's easier just to point out the few negatives.
Here are a couple other nitpicks:
On a couple of VERY cold days I've had the shutter not open right away - just a little poke quickly fixed that problem.
The flash sometimes seems to take FOREVER to charge. If you use the handy bracketing/multiple picture option, be sure to turn off the flash or else it will be pretty useless.
If the batteries die when you have the camera on (and they will) it doesn't retract the lense before shutting off...if you don't have a spare set of batteries, you are stuck with the lense out for a while! Though, I know that (like a TV Remote) if you roll the batteries around or flip-flop them, you should get enough juice to close the shutter :)
The battery door is a little floppy...which isn't a big deal, except for the fact that you'll be replacing the batteries so frequently that the door will get quite a work out.
For the money, it's a GREAT point and shoot camera with a decent video mode and enough manual features to allow you to explore the options...probably leading you to upgrade to a better camera like I am now doing :)
