Strengths: small size (smaller than a pack of smokes), 3MP sensor, stainless-steel body, 640 movie mode, 9 point auto-focus, seperate manual mode, intelligent flash, and battery duration.
Weaknesses: 2X optical zoom
Summary: i purchased this camera because i was tired of lugging around my nikon digital for 'just fun' photographs of amusement parks, bike rides, and regular pictures of my son and his friends. the housewife/soccer mom, novice, and semi-pro will fall in love with this digital-elph. in my opinion, canon & nikon have the sharpest lenses available, and this S230 doesn't let anyone down. it can make a crystal clear 8"X10" right off the bat, or a photoshop interpolated all the way up to 16"X20". on a recent trip to Knoebels amusement park in PA, i took along an extra battery (just in case), but after recording 9 (30 sec.) movies), and 88 superfine/large images...the low battery warning had yet to appear (and we were there all day!). a word of advice...get atleast a 256MB compact flash (memory) card, or a 512MB better yet, and you won't wear this little camera out. though it doesn't come with a case...i purchased a 'Belkin' compact flip-phone case at 'staples' and it fit's like a glove (with a sturdy belt clip too). you won't regret purchasing this little gem!

Strengths: Does everything
Weaknesses: Only in the ignorance of previous reviewers. And camera shake,
Summary: Cheap batteries can be found for the camera. Turn off the LCD if your batter runs out fast. Stop giving it bad reviews because it has a 2x optical zoom. You give it 4 stars for not paying attention before you bought it. Red eye happens because the flash is too close to the lens. This is an amazing camera that is intuitively understood. You dont have to read the manuall because everything is right there. It is wonderful-for a point and shoot and always will be.

Strengths: High picture quality, Easy to use and to remember the manual, so light for carrying with me anytime, Clear color image
Weaknesses: seriously short range of zoom, high price for pixel, no significant technical development from S200..
Summary: It was so hard to choose S330 and S230.. The only differences are Zoom and Pixel.. Still I do not know my choice is well done or not.. Anyway the good picture does not tell the camera's quality but the user's skill according many digital pictures that are shown on web sites...

Strengths: Big Images, good quality, lots of features, crisp LCD display, Easy to use and suprising battery life
Weaknesses: weak 2X zoom, the response time is way to slow if your trying to shoot images in motion, the software included isn't that great in terms of keeping track of your images, movie mode is very poor qualit
Summary: I know I list a fare amount of gripes but I'm still getting over the price but overall this is a very good camera especally for a beginner. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING THIS PRODUCT BE CAREFUL!!!there is a wide price range on this product and its very easy to get riped of in terms of pricing.

If you buy a digital camera, buy one that has a 3X ...
Strengths: Compact, Fits in Pocket.
Weaknesses: Only has a 2X Optical Zoom. The Battery doesn't last that long. A big red eye problem when taking pictures at night. The LCD screen is very delicate.
Summary: If you buy a digital camera, buy one that has a 3X optical zoom, anything less then that is a piece of crap. Point and Shoot cameras are lousy.

Strengths: Resolution of photos, long video mode (with 256MB card, extra$),small size, ergonomics
Weaknesses: short battery life (rechargeable),not durable,no light for video mode
Summary: I really loved this camera. I bought it for Spring Break and needless to say I captured a lot of footage from Sunday to Thursday (prolly more photos than some cameras see in their lifetimes), unfortunately during the course of Thursday night, I must have dropped the camera and that was the end of my experience with it.

Strengths: About the size of a pack of cigs so it's very easy to shoot and go. Get at least a 128 card. Shoot in color, black & white, sepia-lets see leica do that. Good manual and automatic preferences.
Weaknesses: Grain filled on more detail of pics. but have yet to see one that doesnt.
Summary: Very nice for a Japanese camera-which are almost as good as the German ones. For the price, they can't be beat but if your a serious photographer, look elsewhere. Beginner to novice-it's perfect, almost.

Strengths: This sucker is SMALL. At about the size of a pack of cigarettes it can easily fit into any pocket with ease. The image quality is great. You can snap off about 68 pics at high res on a 64 MB card.
Weaknesses: It can't do low light. I tried to snap off a shot of the San Diego sky line at dusk. Light conditions were low but not gone and the city lights were bright. The image came out black.
Summary: I love the size and the picture quality. The USB port zaps the shots into your CPU in no time. I use a 64 MB chip all the time and I have no worries about running out of room. The menus are simple and easy to use, thought not very extensive. I don't have many complaints about the battery capacity. Two batteries would be nice though. All in all I recommend this camera for people who don't intend to do any technical shooting. For the price, it is great for normal day to day use.

Strengths: I love the size of this camera! I love the resolution of the pictures! I love the ease of using this camera!
Weaknesses: I don't like the lack of red eye reduction. I don't like the fact that it came with no case, a very small memory and the battery needs recharging often.
Summary: My Son gave me this camera for Christmas because he had one and knew I would love it too. He lives in California and I live in Missouri so we both email a lot of pictures. When I print the pictures using my new Canon i850 printer they look just like professionally done photos!! I gave him a Canon i850 printer after I had mine for about 2 weeks so now we both have great equipment!!

Strengths: Lens. Compact size. Battery life. Craftsmanship. Canon reputation.
Weaknesses: Red-eye reduction. Additional battery costs to much (always got to buy a back-up battery).
Summary: 2003-03-21 20:14:24 I gave this camera to my Father for his birthday. He was quite surpirsed with the picture quality. He has been using Leica & Rolliflex cameras for many years. It blew him away. I was the previous owner of this camera before giving it to my Father. Yes, i re-gifted. He didn't mind. This camera was taking comparable pictures next to the Nikon D100 I normally used for scouting locations for television commercials. Some directors' I scouted for could not tell the difference between the S230 & the Nikon D100 photos. Highly recommend this camera to the pro-amateur user.

Strengths: This is an excellent camera! I've searched a lot before I've decided to buy one. The image quality is simply unbelievable. The resources packed in this little devil compares to the professional models
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: I am delighted with my new camera. I included a 256MB Compact Flash memory which allows me to store 270+ hi-res pictures (or 540+ for a 512MB module) The brains are almost identical of the G2 and G3 big brothers: fast image processing and autofocus capabilities. For those looking for a very good carrying case, look no more: Radio Shack markets a leather pouch made by Digital Concepts that fits and protects my Powershot like a glove and has two internal pockets for extra memory/battery. You can't beat that when you consider the $10.00 price tag! Go for this camera, you won't be disappointed.

Strengths: Small Size, 3.2 megapixels, Metal body, AiAF focus system, CF memory, user friendly.
Weaknesses: Only a 2X optical zoom.
Summary: THE GOOD: Size, Compact Flash Memory, AiAF Artificial Intelligence Auto Focus system, Auto Image Rotate, ISO settings, Stitch Assist Mode, Built in Flash, Batteries, Durable Metal Body.
THE BAD: Only a 2X optical zoom. This is a handicap when shooting nature and landscapes. I don't know why Canon even bothers to put in additional digital zoom. I will never use it.
BOTTOM LINE: This camera is suitable and designed for most consumer applications. The layout allows for shooting with one hand. Photography enthusiasts will love the advanced functions in manual mode. For professionals....use your expense accounts and buy the Canon EOS-1Ds. (11 Mega Pixels)

Strengths: photo quality, preset options, size, sharp screen, durability
Weaknesses: Need to buy camera case, spare battery, and larger CF Type I memory card to truly complete the package
Summary: Easy to use yet takes wonderful pictures even for the amateur photographer. Especially at night the flash eats batteries like candy; highly recommend getting a backup. Took a fall from 3 feet to the concrete without a scratch. Noticeably smaller form factor than s330, with higher megapixels as well. A pleasure to take everywhere and use.
