Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Does everything Weakness: Only in the ignorance of previous reviewers. And camera shake, Cheap batteries can be found for the camera. Turn off the LCD if your batter runs out fast. Stop giving it bad reviews because it has a 2x optical zoom. You give it 4 stars for not paying attention before you bought it. Red eye happens because the flash is too close to the lens. This is an amazing camera that is intuitively understood. You dont have to read the manuall because everything is right there. It is wonderful-for a point and shoot and always will be. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Compact, Fits in Pocket. Weakness: Only has a 2X Optical Zoom. The Battery doesn't last that long. A big red eye problem when taking pictures at night. The LCD screen is very delicate. If you buy a digital camera, buy one that has a 3X optical zoom, anything less then that is a piece of crap. Point and Shoot cameras are lousy. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Resolution of photos, long video mode (with 256MB card, extra$),small size, ergonomics Weakness: short battery life (rechargeable),not durable,no light for video mode I really loved this camera. I bought it for Spring Break and needless to say I captured a lot of footage from Sunday to Thursday (prolly more photos than some cameras see in their lifetimes), unfortunately during the course of Thursday night, I must have dropped the camera and that was the end of my experience with it. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Big Images, good quality, lots of features, crisp LCD display, Easy to use and suprising battery life Weakness: weak 2X zoom, the response time is way to slow if your trying to shoot images in motion, the software included isn't that great in terms of keeping track of your images, movie mode is very poor qualit I know I list a fare amount of gripes but I'm still getting over the price but overall this is a very good camera especally for a beginner. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING THIS PRODUCT BE CAREFUL!!!there is a wide price range on this product and its very easy to get riped of in terms of pricing. 33% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: small size (smaller than a pack of smokes), 3MP sensor, stainless-steel body, 640 movie mode, 9 point auto-focus, seperate manual mode, intelligent flash, and battery duration. Weakness: 2X optical zoom i purchased this camera because i was tired of lugging around my nikon digital for 'just fun' photographs of amusement parks, bike rides, and regular pictures of my son and his friends. the housewife/soccer mom, novice, and semi-pro will fall in love with this digital-elph. in my opinion, canon & nikon have the sharpest lenses available, and this S230 doesn't let anyone down. it can make a crystal clear 8"X10" right off the bat, or a photoshop interpolated all the way up to 16"X20". on a recent trip to Knoebels amusement park in PA, i took along an extra battery (just in case), but after recording 9 (30 sec.) movies), and 88 superfine/large images...the low battery warning had yet to appear (and we were there all day!). a word of advice...get atleast a 256MB compact flash (memory) card, or a 512MB better yet, and you won't wear this little camera out. though it doesn't come with a case...i purchased a 'Belkin' compact flip-phone case at 'staples' and it fit's like a glove (with a sturdy belt clip too). 75% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: This sucker is SMALL. At about the size of a pack of cigarettes it can easily fit into any pocket with ease. The image quality is great. You can snap off about 68 pics at high res on a 64 MB card. Weakness: It can't do low light. I tried to snap off a shot of the San Diego sky line at dusk. Light conditions were low but not gone and the city lights were bright. The image came out black. I love the size and the picture quality. The USB port zaps the shots into your CPU in no time. I use a 64 MB chip all the time and I have no worries about running out of room. The menus are simple and easy to use, thought not very extensive. I don't have many complaints about the battery capacity. Two batteries would be nice though. All in all I recommend this camera for people who don't intend to do any technical shooting. For the price, it is great for normal day to day use. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: I love the size of this camera! I love the resolution of the pictures! I love the ease of using this camera! Weakness: I don't like the lack of red eye reduction. I don't like the fact that it came with no case, a very small memory and the battery needs recharging often. My Son gave me this camera for Christmas because he had one and knew I would love it too. He lives in California and I live in Missouri so we both email a lot of pictures. When I print the pictures using my new Canon i850 printer they look just like professionally done photos!! I gave him a Canon i850 printer after I had mine for about 2 weeks so now we both have great equipment!! 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Lens. Compact size. Battery life. Craftsmanship. Canon reputation. Weakness: Red-eye reduction. Additional battery costs to much (always got to buy a back-up battery). I gave this camera to my Father for his birthday. He was quite surpirsed with the picture quality. He has been using Leica & Rolliflex cameras for many years. It blew him away. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: This is an excellent camera! I've searched a lot before I've decided to buy one. The image quality is simply unbelievable. The resources packed in this little devil compares to the professional models Weakness: None. I am delighted with my new camera. I included a 256MB Compact Flash memory which allows me to store 270+ hi-res pictures (or 540+ for a 512MB module) 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: photo quality, preset options, size, sharp screen, durability Weakness: Need to buy camera case, spare battery, and larger CF Type I memory card to truly complete the package Easy to use yet takes wonderful pictures even for the amateur photographer. Especially at night the flash eats batteries like candy; highly recommend getting a backup. Took a fall from 3 feet to the concrete without a scratch. Noticeably smaller form factor than s330, with higher megapixels as well. A pleasure to take everywhere and use. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: size, colors, fast Weakness: none except for the red-eye reduction that doesn't work I'm very pleased with this camera, an huge improvement compared to the 330. but the red eye reduction simply isn't there. You'll get red eyes very easily. Contacted Canon but nothing happened. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: SIZE, PRICE, Quality. Excellent in all area's of day to day digital photography. Why spend a bunch of cash on these types of digital camera's (CCD) when the CMOS is coming in a few years (11meg's) Weakness: Sometimes your finger gets in the way of the flash because the camera is so small. The CMOS will change digital photography but is still going to take a few years for it to reach the consumer. The CANON EOS-D1s retails for $8000.00 and is the only one with the CMOS chip that has over 11megapixel true 35mm. Meanwhile if you need a great little camera that takes great shots everytime then this is the one. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Fits in shirt pocket and takes great pics, auto or manual, movies and effects.Underwater housing available! Weakness: could use more optical zoom, battery life and memory This camera is great!I actually carry it because of small pocket size so I have it with me and use it,unlike my other large bulky cameras. The new auto focus is fairly fast and pictures are very sharp at high resolution. They print great on the Canon i850 FAST printer. This s230 does have all the picture effects and manual settings of the s200,but not a tape recorder/memo function. It does record sound in movie mode. For some reason Canons product description leaves out some of the features?E-mail them with questions and get prompt replies,go to their excellent web site. You need a big memory card and extra battery. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: Small size, bright display, ease of use, max pixels Weakness: choppy video Bought to replace a stolen S110. This works pretty much the same except the slightly sharper images, better low light functioning and faster image-to-image times. Needs a HUGE card though. I'm running out of time using the 64M cards I have. My only regrets are that I bought before Harmony posted their $359 no-hassle price and I can't really afford the new S45. (its got the same movie and focus engine) DBUYS was okay. They aren't as advanced as some of the others, but price was good and folks were nice to deal with. Arrived reasonably on time. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: highly recommended With the PowerShot S230, you've got the best of both worlds - the compact size and high style of the Digital ELPH series plus the higher resolution of a 3 megapixel camera. It's the combination I've been looking for!It doesn't boast bells and whistles such as manual shutter control or picture effects. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...Strengths: High picture quality, Easy to use and to remember the manual, so light for carrying with me anytime, Clear color image Weakness: seriously short range of zoom, high price for pixel, no significant technical development from S200.. It was so hard to choose S330 and S230.. The only differences are Zoom and Pixel.. Still I do not know my choice is well done or not.. Anyway the good picture does not tell the camera's quality but the user's skill according many digital pictures that are shown on web sites... 50% of readers found this review helpful. Canon PowerShot S230
Canon's Digital ELPH cameras have been among the most popular subcompact digicams for quite a while now. So far though, they've been limited to two-megapixels of resolution, a level that's been perceived by many consumers as a limitation. Now however, the new PowerShot S230 moves the line up to a full three-megapixel sensor, while retaining the excellent build quality and image rendition of... Top

Canon PowerShot S230 3.2 Megapixel Compact Camera -...
Strengths: About the size of a pack of cigs so it's very easy to shoot and go. Get at least a 128 card. Shoot in color, black & white, sepia-lets see leica do that. Good manual and automatic preferences.
Weakness: Grain filled on more detail of pics. but have yet to see one that doesnt.
Very nice for a Japanese camera-which are almost as good as the German ones. For the price, they can't be beat but if your a serious photographer, look elsewhere. Beginner to novice-it's perfect, almost.
