Pentax Optio 430RS 4 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: The color filters, the picture quality, the size, 3-D photos, and the way it looks

Weakness: Can't be used as a webcam

Wherever I take it, everyone is really impressed with it. A professor of Digita photography said that my camera was really unique, and that "it's amazing how such a small camera can do all those things." The color filters are very handy.

Pentax Optio 430RS 4 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Very compact, but excellent picture quality

Weakness: Hi res. requires large compact flash card memory

I am very excited with this camera! The pictures are unbelievably clear for such a small camera. I love all the great features-- like the time-lapse, 3D, filters (including one to make fat people look "thin"! (almost) any man with a woman in his life needs this feature (except me, of course), 6x zoom, and simplicity. It is easy to choose different resolutions either before or after you take the picture to conserve memory. I would recommend anybody buy at least a 64Mb compact flash card, since it can use a lot of memory per picture.

Pentax Optio 430RS 4 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Very handy and you can carry it with you everywhere. Good definition of the pictures.

Weakness: You have to be very careful, it's a fragile camera!

After six weeks I had a problem with the zoom. The camera has been sent back to Pentax. The customer service is very poor and I am still waiting my camera. It's more than a month that my camera is with Pentax.
To summarize poor service and no customer care, only words.

Pentax Optio 430RS 4 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: This camera takes pictures that look great when printed on a full-size 8.5x11 sheet of paper. It's so easy to use that even my mother can use it!

Weakness: Small internal memory, definitely buy a CompactFlash card for the camera. I have a 256MB CF card, and I can now take well over 100 pictures at the highest resolution.

This is a very small, compact camera. I have had friends with older cameras comment that they couldn't believe my 4-megapixel camera was so small. Overall, a very nice camera.

Pentax Optio 430RS 4 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Small, Smart, Quick

Weakness: Forgive me for my attention to small details. The strap with this camera is too long, and can get hooked on to anything. We really only need 6inches vice the 12 inch strap.

The camera is great! My wife got just the right camera
for me. She knows I like to carry a camera with me
during my military travels and the Optio was the best choice!
It's great for those times when you "need to get it on film".
I was one of those guys that thought the bigger the better when it came to getting the right shot! Not anymore, Optio has my vote!

Pentax Optio 430RS 4 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Handy, robust case, looks good, very easy manipulation

Weakness: Picture quality, high noise and artefacts

The 430RS has less pic quality than my old 330. All Optios have a serious problem with noise, much more than other cams. The RS models use a different processing of the JPG format resulting addtionally in lots of artefacts around edges. If you look for high image quality don't buy if you print small sizes only it's OK and you won't notice.

Pentax Optio430RS

Pentax developed a nice line of compact digicams last year, with the Optio 430, 330, and 230. They've now updated the first two as the 430RS and 330RS, and I've reviewed them both. The 430RS is a four megapixel model, while the 330RS has a three megapixel sensor. They share a very nice feature set, allowing a fair amount of image control, without overly complicating the user interface. Color is...
