Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: The compact size of the Exilim makes it the perfect companion for travel. Exellent battery life and ease of recharging and downloading. Very quick start up. Weakness: No optical zoom. Picture quality close to point and shoot film cameras. Excellent camera for the money. We took a trip to Europe where I took over 600 images and was amazed at the ease of use and quickness of this camera. The SD format media card is great. I just wish the digital camera industry would settle on a card and not introduce a new format with almost every new camera. I love my Exilim and can only fault it's 2.1 mp capability. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: Incredibly small. LCD is very sharp. Weakness: Horrible picture quality. Weak flash The Exilim is incredibly small and cute. The LCD is very sharp and people will marvel at its size where ever you go. Taking pictures is the simplest I've seen of all digital cameras. The camera powers on in less than 1 second, compared to 4-5 seconds on my HP 315 camera. To review pictures, slide a control from "REC" to "PLAY" and your pictures appear instantaneously. My HP 315 again takes 5-6 seconds to show pictures stored on the camera. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: Size, speed, ease of use. Weakness: No zoom, hard to take indoor pictures, weak flash. I bought the camera to use as a pocket camera when I travel. I am mostly satisfied with using it, but it's hard to get it to take decent pictures indoors. The exposure in the video mode is fine, but I have been unable to control the exposure adequately. I'd like an optical zoom, but for the price and size, I can live without that. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: So small and durable. I stick it in my backpocket and sit anywhere with it. Pictures are very good quality, and I love the black and white mode. Weakness: Zoom isn't that great. If you zoom in all the way and take a picture, the quality is poor. Overall, there are way more good things about this camera than bad. Everyone is amazed at how small it is, and how good the quality of the pictures are. I upload pictures onto my computer in no time, and the video mode is fun. :) The battery also lasts a good while. 16 hours I think? I definately recommend this. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: Most features Weakness: Buttons, lens cover Overall I am happy but I wish Casio mould make a few improvments. First place the "take picture" button in a place that is more natural. Two, maybe provide a lense cover. Three, make the "selector" button esier to use. My favorite feature is the way XP treates the cammera as just another drive; it makes it very easy to use. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: Very small, beautiful metal casing, reasonable resolution, extremely fast start-up time & extremely short delay between successive shots Weakness: No macro mode, no optical zoom (although it's impossible to pack all the lens elements that this would require in 11mm of thickness), scroll key to small to be managed properly I purchased this camera because I immediately fell in love with it when I first saw a picture of it. Once I saw the real thing I was even more impressed at its diminutive size. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: GREAT camera - found no weaknesses Weakness: Could use a bit more zoom I purchased this camera to take on a cruise. It worked fabulously. The pictures that I took were clear, sharp, no color distortion. Fits anywhere, doesn't weigh anything and turns heads everywhere. I could have sold the camera at least 6 times on the cruise. Didn't think about it. Came home, downloaded all of my shots into my computer and printed out those that I wanted in hard copy. Fantastic camere. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: Convenient, user-friendly, quality photos, good PC software for downloading photos Weakness: For the price charged this item has no weaknesses Although shown as coming with 12MB MMC card, ours came with 16MB and a camera case for $209 at Sam's Club. Definitely exceeded our expectations. My wife loves it because it is not complicated to use. Auto white-balance worked fine for us (contrary to another reviewer's experience - perhaps his was set to one of the fixed balance settings). Image quality as good as it gets for a 2.1 megapixel camera. No optical zoom, but that would be nearly impossible to add without a bulky lens. This camera slips into your shirt pocket or purse. Charger/USB docking station very convenient and works well with included PC software. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital CameraStrengths: Really small and really easy to use. Good battery life and frankly suprisingly nice 2 mp pix. This camera really isn't much bigger than a credit card -- amazing. Weakness: Difficult to get basic accessories like a case from the Casio website. Manual included with package doesn't really cover all the features of the camera. You'll have to figure it out yourself. This camera exceeded my expectations. Can't recommend it enough as a second "anyplace/anytime" digicam or your only camera if you're not heavy into pro-like landscapes and portraits. One other thing -- this camera really has WOW factor when you bring it out. Get ready for ohs and ahs and lots of questions about "where did you get it and how much?" Real conversation piece. Casio EXILIM EX-S2 Digital Camera
Strengths: Super Small - Easy to Use - Good battery life - Enough Resolution for 4x6 pictures
Weakness: Poor Picture Quality and the Auto White Balance is terrible
I bought this camera because I wanted a digital camera that was extremely small to take rock climbing and kayaking. I bought a water-resistant cigarette container and modified it with some foam to give the camera shock resistance and make it water-proof.
My idea was working until I decided to take pictures. It turns out that the Auto White balance is terrible. On a trip over Thanksgiving I took some pictures inside my house, which were too yellow, at the airport, which were too blue, and outside, which actually turned out fairly well, except the high-contrast silhouette shots that had purple fringe. After my first experience, I figured out that you can correct for the different lighting conditions by selecting pre-set white balance modes that compensate for different lighting, florescent lights etc. The pictures came out better than those that I took with the auto setting, but the color palate was still shifted. Only after manually white balancing with a piece of paper, did pictures come out in true color (inside lighting mostly).
I'm not about to take a piece of white paper everywhere I go... I returned my ES-X2 within 2 weeks from the date of purchase.
In summary, the Casio EX-S2 was a let down. A home run that was snatched before it cleared the wall. It is the perfect size, battery life is great, it has enough resolution, but Casio needs to improve the Auto White Balance and the optical path before I'll give this one another chance.
