Strengths: Fairly easy to use. Lots of advanced features. Excellent resolution.
Weaknesses: Bigger than I would like and very very short battery life.
Summary: 2003-11-19 07:15:06 Excellent camera for the novice photographer (or those who like to think they know how to take photos). Lots of jammed packed features that I am still trying to figure out how to perfect. The manual option is perfect for a digital camera that isn't a full SLR - I took a 5 second scenery shot in complete darkness and it came out spectacular (blue skies!). However, I wouldn't recommend this for the normal point-and-shoot photo taker. there are cheaper and more user-friendly cameras for that purpose.

Strengths: Easy and conveniently accessible controls, good quality shots, many extras (see dedicated function button), 32MB starter memory, ready for underwater photography (optional case), 3 minutes of video
Weaknesses: weak macro capability, useless manual focus (I can't figure out how to use it) no remote, the lense cover is not very reliably/durably looking, uses proprietary cables
Summary: The most feature-laden and easy-to-use portable 4-megapixel camera, great for advanced amateurs and frequent travellers, who need a light pocket powerhouse camera. G3 is better but who needs to carry a bulky 4MP when there are 6-11MP digital SLRs on the market.

Strengths: Rugged, great pictures, small and compact. Travels well
Weaknesses: Redeye issues on close-ups; weak flash. Doesn't save flash settings on power down.
Summary: I bought the S45 to replace my S30 that met an untimely demise(Multiple impacts on contrete - don't ask). Similar in features, but improved flash and memeory usage. This camera takes great pictures. I love the full metal case. It feels like a real camera. It is full featured and fully manual operation is available. The auto and program modes are sufficient for most uses though. I've used this camera and the S30 on extensive travel and love it for its size and quality. Don't forget the extra battery if you use the display for composition and playback, but it runs all day if you don't.

Strengths: Takes clear pictures in all light types, user friendly, size is light and easily carried on planes, to functions, etc etc
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: Received the camera on Friday, took wedding pictures the very next week with very little practice and they turned out very nice. We had to call the company for a Software User Manual which wasn't included in the package, but that wasn't the fault of the camera. Would highly recommend it for a novice photographer such as myself and the pictures are good enough to please someone more experienced. Happy I bought it, think it was a good purchase.

Strengths: Full-featured, very good picture quality, generally well-designed (except for a poorly-designed 5-way selector button), good software in the package, case seems very durable. Good video quality.
Weaknesses: Flash set too close to lens (serious redeye problems). 5-way selector button a little hard to operate. Pricey. A little on the heavy side.
Summary: This gem packs a wide array of automatic and manual settings in a stylish case. Fast recovery, from frame to frame, and it shoots really great pictures. The redeye is an awful problem, though. Most photos of people or animals have required touch-up. This is a major drawback and resulted in me dropping one star in my rating. Among 4 megapixel cameras, this one's a keeper, though. At least, that is, for the time being. Canon's competitors can do a lot at a lower price point than that of the S45.

Strengths: User defined settings, size, videos
Weaknesses: Too heavy for a shirt pocket, battery hog
Summary: Excellent sharp photos. available user settings like any good 35mm. camera. The few videos I've taken were a lot of fun but it's still basically a very good still camera. If you are going to travel buy an extra battery and a large CF card

Strengths: great service
Weaknesses: none
Summary: Today I ordered the canon S45, the sales person was great. It was nice talking to somebody that new what he was talking about. They said it would arrive in a week, will write back to let you know.

Summary: Ordered this camera from 645AF on Jan 20th. It hadn't arrived as of Jan 30th when I got a call from Steve of 645AF. He explained that the cameras were back ordered but had just arrived. He offered to send it next day air and have it delivered on Saturday. He's throwing in a camera case to boot. I appreciate his attention to my order and the upgrades, too. Will let you know when it arrives.
