SiPix Foxlink SC-3300 Digital Camera

Strengths: true 3 megapixel resolution (no interpolation), 1.6in lcd

Weakness: short alkaline battery life (rechargable nimh mandatory)

this review is more a warning for potential buyers to look out! the manufacturer has discontinued this product and dumped their entire remaining stock on the market. the serial numbers on the dumped units have been defaced with black marker then repackaged in the original retail box. sipix will NOT honor the warranty or provide service for these cameras.

i found this out after purchasing this camera from lowtag.com which arrived in a vacuum shrinkwrapped retail box. after 2 months and less than 2 dozen pictures later the camera completely stopped working. i contacted lowtag who directed me to the manufacturer to obtain warranty service. after calling long distance and being put on hold for 15 min i was informed my camera was a dumped unit. sipix refused to repair or replace my camera despite all of their products being covered by a 1 yr limited warranty.

next i contacted lowtag again to see if they would replace my camera since the manufacturer was no help. upon hearing this lowtag changes their tune and now tells me the camera is remanufactured with no warranty--all sales are final. this is news to me! i wasn't made aware the camera was dumped, or remanufactured for that matter either, at the time of purchase and how am i supposed to know when it arrives in a sealed retail box?

i am not happy.

SiPix advertised that the camera worked on alkaline batteries. The one I tried would not work at all on alkaline batteries.

I have an Si Pix SC3300 and have been very happy with it. I have never had a problem. The ONLY reason I purchased another camera was for more Mega Pixel resolution, but I still use my camera as a back-up. It's not the camera, it's the user and the software you have to crop your photo's. I purchased the camera about two years ago from HSN, and have been VERY happy.

SiPix Foxlink SC-3300 Digital Camera

Strengths: Good price for a 3.3 MegaPixel Camera.

Weakness: Camera is a bit slow. Drains batteries.

Bought this camera because it was cheap. One major disadvantage is that it drains batteries really quickly, so need to buy rechargables. Overall, it is a decent camera. Functions a little slower than expected though. Power button is also hard to turn on/off.
