I've been hesitant to buy a...

Strengths: Simple, easy to use, good lens, simple interface with computer, quality pictures in various modes.

Weakness: None.

I've been hesitant to buy a digital camera. I'm hopelessly stuck in the primative period when 35mm film cameras were the norm. This little camera has exceeded all my expectations. Great for snapshots and for more "artistic" shots. I wish the wide end of the lens was wider but that is hardly a knock on the camera. I have not experienced a better digital camera in this price range. The docking station is a must.

I love this camera, I know there...

Strengths: This Camera, is extremely easy to use, Im not a PC guru, but the ease of the software for this camera DLing on my XP system is remarkable, I have the docking station and think its worth its money

Weakness: I havent found any weaknesses, this is my 3rd Digital Camera and by far my favorite

I love this camera, I know there is cameras out there in the 5+ mega pixal, but Im amazed by the quality of my picture prints on my HP 6110xi, there as good as any 35 mm and the ease of tranfering my pics to PC and emailing or printing is absolutly incredible, its just ONE click away (which is good, cause Im terrible at locating pics to send) this cameras software makes it a SNAP, I love this camera, and I dont care if someone makes a 7.2 mega pixals Cheaper, Im not switching unless Kodak does it with a camera with the ease of this one cheaper. This is an amasing Camera, I bought it at Walmart for just under $250, I added the docking station (which recharges it) and a 256 mb card, and case. paid just under $450, was worth every penny. the Video with the 256 card is about 16 mins of video with Sound, or well over 200 high quality pitures. I love it. For me its the only Camera out there, and will be for a while, I highly suggest you take a LONG look at this one. Its worth it, WAY to GO KODAK

My husband and I are professional...

Strengths: Easy to Use, Great digital photos, great lens

Weakness: The battery door appears a bit flimsy but we have had no problems thus far.

My husband and I are professional digital photoghers and we teach a nationally acclaimed workshop series. We use three of these digital cameras as "loaner" digital cameras for our students. They have been very dependable, produce excellent digital photos and our students love the camera!

Contrary to what has been written elsewhere, using an inexpensive ($10 to $15) chip reader these digital photos can be viewed and edited on ANY computer.

Kodak finally has a winner with this digital camera!

Wonderful camera, especially easy...

Strengths: Simple to use in a short time, feels good, great pictures, great features!

Weakness: Would not connect directly to my Cannon i960 USB slot on the printer but no problem using Kodak "Easyshare" and Cannon software on the computer.

Wonderful camera, especially easy to access the multitude of features. The view screen is large and helpful menus appear. It came ready to use. I bought a carrying case also.
I originally shopped for the 6330 model which was sold out. This model sold for a little more but well worth it! The flash seems very powerful. It comes with a neat one-use battery; I bought 4 rechargeable AA batteries.
So far, it's just great!

I love this camera. The zoom works...

Strengths: The Lens. This is the reason that I bought this camera after researching numerous others in this price range. The ease of use is great. The menu is very simple to follow. Great camera

Weakness: Although the battery door does feel flimsy, I have a two year old Kodak 1.3 meg and that door has never broken. I think the plastic is stronger than it feels.Software is poor.

I love this camera. The zoom works flawlessly and the pix, manual or auto are great. Best in price range. I have used Kodak service on prior camera w/o any problem. One year guarantee was a selling point. The display is clear and bright even outdoors. Flash is strong but throttles down for fill.
I dont use the software. Had too many problems. Use a card reader and several other viewers.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my...

Strengths: I am not a professional photographer so I enjoy the ease of this camera. The joystick makes navigation easy. The various buttons are also easy to use.

Weakness: I have to agree with all other reviewers - the doors to the memory stick and to the battery are flimsy, especially the battery door.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my digital camera. The ability to instantly view and keep or delete pictures makes picture taking enjoyable for all involved. My family and friends often have a say in what pictures will be kept and which ones should be retaken. I also enjoy the ease of transferring the pictures from the camera to my computer via the docking station. The Easy Share software is also very user friendly. I operate on Windows XP and have had no problems transferring, viewing, editing and printing from this software. The software has been completely compatible with XP. For those who are looking for a user friendly camera to take mostly personal use pictures (i.e. vacations, reunions, graduations, etc..) I highly recommend this camera. One side note, I also bought a small picture printer (not Kodak) and have enjoyed travelling with both the camera and the printer. Being able to leave being pics is great!

I love this digital camera!! It is...

Strengths: Simple to use. Takes great pictures. Battery lasted a long time. I love this camera!! It was exactly what I was looking for! Simple and it works great and great pics!!

Weakness: Weaknesses were actually mine, when I forgot to bring extra battery with me on vacation. Does not come with bag and other accessories

I love this digital camera!! It is so simple.Just point and click and you are able to take lots and lots of pictures, which is what I wanted . . . till you bump into the rare (for me) beautiful picture! and then later buy and keep only pics you love!! I just got back from Puerto Rico and I took picture after picture and got nearly all that I wanted. MY one problem was that because the battery lasted so long, I neglected to bring one with me. . . oops, so I did miss a few Kodak moments till we could get to the store to get a new battery (missed the iguana pic and a pic of the gecko :( ).

To wrap up if you want a camera that is simple and wonder ful . . . Buy this camera!

This is my 3rd digital camera, and...

Strengths: Excellent print quality, excellent color, easy to use control. Excellent Schneider LENS.

Weakness: Plastic battery compartment cover seems fragile, but no problems so far.

This is my 3rd digital camera, and so far the best. Just like with a film camera, the LENS is critical, this one is a beauty - Schneider - a name of quality for decades. The Optical zoom is 4x, better than most. The color reproduction in excellent on Sony, Fuji and Kodak printers (professional). Rechargable battery comes with the docking station. Runs on Windows for sure, all versions after 98. JPEG format is key for interoperability. This camera has put my Nikon 35mm in the closet for travel, family and spontaneous shots. You should read the manual and learn to use the proper modes for the picture you are taking.... I love this camera, and again the Lens seems to be the most important component. The software is also good, even allows you to burn your own CDs and also allows you to easily import your Kodak Photo CDs from your 35 and APS cameras, could not ask for more.

Strengths: Battery Life, Picture Capacity, Zoom, Large 1.8" LCD, Easy to use software.

Weakness: Small Viewfinder

It it very easy to use. The menus are very simple. Perfect pictures in all lighting situations. Exceptional battery life for pictures taken. The 14X zoom is outstanding. Very well explained user manual.

I considered the sony DSC-p72 and...

Strengths: The 4x optical zoom is the best available at this price range. Extremely easy to use, excellent foto quality and the different modes for taking pictures are really great.

Weakness: The little lid where you put the battery is extremely hard to close. I almost broke it the first time.

I considered the sony DSC-p72 and the Canon A70 before buying this one and I am very happy with my desicion. The Image quality is nice for a camera in this price range and the lens is the best available (in this range). 4x optical zoom is Great.
For people new to digital photografy, this camera is extremely easy to use as it has a little joystick which makes it easy to navigate between menu's and preview pictures. Definitely a great buy ( i got it for $300 + shipping).

This is my first digital camera...

Strengths: EasyShare dock upgrade, quality pictures, easy to use and affordable.

Weakness: The only weaknesses I can think of are the flimsy doors for the battery and for the memory card, but they have held up and I doubt they'll give me any trouble.

This is my first digital camera and I haven't really had any digi cam background except for my friend's canon a70? It is the same price as the Kodak but I much prefer the DX6430, seems like a better quality unit. The pictures are clear, the different camera modes are easy to use, and I love taking pictures with it.

Perhaps I went over board since the only reason I bought the camera is to take pictures at my college parties but if you're going to pay for a digi cam you might as well get a good one to last.

I highly recommend the printer dock because it recharges and transfers the pictures to you computer, as well as prints 4x6 pictures with great quality. I highly recomend this camera to anyone looking for a new digital camera.

This is follow-up to earlier eval....

Strengths: loaded with features, transfer to PC a snap!, variety of batteries that can be used, excellent lens reputation, excellent quality of photos. Diopter adj. on viewfinder a plus for glasses users.

Weakness: Joystick difficult to use ; made for dainty fingers, and takes some getiing used to; Not much different from other small devices.

This is follow-up to earlier eval. I like this camera, with the exception of the joystick control. The shutter button is extra sensitiveand I often I take pictures while trying to perfom joystick functions. Downloads go direct to "My Pictures" folder in Wxp although remaining in Easyshare folder until closing program. No other transfer required; NICE!
I like the distinct shutter click! Less shutter delay than other cameras. Toggling through menus is somewhat awkward with big fingers. Ladies with long nails might have a problem. Nothing new here!
Software sometimes fails to tranfer pictures on first try; maybe a matter of battery life.
Photographs are good quality. Some color adjustment may be needed. Excellent buy, and prices are falling!

Strengths: Ease of use, especially downloading into computer.

Weakness: I haven't noted any door problems. I have to be caeful when handling the camera as it is easy to click the photo button.

I run Windows NT and have had no problem downloading photos. I also use the platform. I have tried all settings on the camera and all work perfect.

My husband and I borrowed a canon...

Strengths: Ease of use, large LCD display, zoom lens, 3+ Mega Pixels, price, size - compact for use on vacation without feeling like you're toting extra luggage.

Weakness: Some night pictures haven't come out too great using the auto program modes.

My husband and I borrowed a canon 3mp camera on vacation and knew we wanted a digital camera. I searched the internet for months comparing all the features of various cameras. There were so many options out there it became overwhelming. Finally, we decided on 4 different cameras and went to look at them at Best Buy. The kodak DX6340 wasn't on our original list. After picking it up, liking it's feel and ease of use we were leaning towards it. We wanted to stay around $300 and get a 3mp camera. In the end we paid $329, which included the camera and the 6000 docking station through ebay. We love it, it's easier to get around in than the cannon and if we take a bad picture you can always delete it and get another! I would recomend this camera for anyone starting out or people who use the automatic program modes. I can't say I've really tested the manual features because I need to read up on that a little more and it's so easy to use the pre-program modes. The movie feature works well too with audio. We used the provided battery for close to 2 weeks, took just over 100 pictures and reviewed each one(with a 128MB card),one short video and didn't run out of battery. Since, we've got a rechargeable battery that recharges in the docking station (or a battery charger) and shouldn't have to even worry about battery life, which is always talked about in reviews.

First, the batteries are easy to...

Strengths: First, the fact that most of the modes aren't hidden in menus. Kodak included a diopter with this model. Lots of features for the price. Placement of dials, etc. Lenses are available, great optics.

Weakness: No hot shoe for an external flash, although one can get lenses. I don't think this camera saves one's settings after powering off. No light for movie mode.

First, the batteries are easy to find. In a pinch you could use an akaline AA, but it would not last long. I have a different model and the batteries lasted a long time. Secondly, the camera is great in low light!
Bought a NimH charger with batteries (about $17), and a package of non-rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries at Sam's Club. The camera includes a non-rechargeable and a rechargeable battery. Next, the LCD is a nice viewable size, and seems to be clear in all types of lighting.
I chose this camera for a friend of mine. He is not photo-savy at all. Simplicity was foremost, and of course, he wants a camera that will produce quality pictures.
The 4X optical zoom is excellent for this price point. I believe the camera has a power-saving mode. I already own the DX4530 and this camera actually has more creative modes! The camera was purchased at Sam's Club with the printer dock (my friend does not own a pc), for $250! I explained to him that he could also take the digital "film" to a local store for processing. I shopped around for quite some time before purchasing both cameras. Kodak has answered my e-mails immediately, and they also have a toll-free number. In my opinion and experience with Kodak, this company seems to appreciate their customer's inputs for new features and other ideas. For example, my 4530 included a dock, but no printer. A printer was on sale at Walmart; however, I was advised by one of Kodak's customer service reps not to buy a printer dock yet because they will be manufacturing a universal printer for all of their camera lines. (I already own a HP all-in-one, and an old HP 895.)
Great camera, I think I'll buy the new DX7440! Easy to use, decent prints, great customer service (register warranty on-line and get an additional month free), and fun to use!

Strengths: Great pictures, easy to use, nice integration with printer dock, which makes amazing 4x6 glossy prints. 4x optical zoom is nice. Good battery life.

Weakness: None, given the design and price point.

In a crowded market segment this is a fine camera at a nice price. Sam's Club has a combo deal with the Printer Dock 6000 for under $400.
Picture taking is easy, and printing and uploading to a computer are easy. While manual controls can be nice, this is a $200 point-and-shoot camera that can be carried in pocket or purse without a case if desired (it has an integrated lens cover). That's important to my partner, who also carries a videocam in her purse!

This is the camera that replaced...

Strengths: Good camera while it lasted

Weakness: Terrible customer service

This is the camera that replaced the DX3900 from Kodak that I've had for a little over a year. The internal shutter ended up getting stuck and not opening. I called in to get this resolved and they charged me half of what I paid ($150) which is almost more than a new, comparable camera to get the shutter fixed. I went as far as to talk to a supervisor who explained that Kodak digital cameras were not designed to last over a few years. I was in shock. She said that there were too many little pieces that could break (the shutter???) and they weren't meant to last like a regular camera. I would highly recommend steering away from Kodak. The internal shutter not working sounds like a defect. Highly disappointing for a big name like Kodak.

I have taken about 50 pictures...

Strengths: The 4x optical zoom is more than any other cameras in this price range and pixel capacity. The number of options available are great.

Weakness: The door to access the battery and the memory slot are flimsy and I am concerned they may get broken off

I have taken about 50 pictures with the camera and some of the best have been close-ups of flowers. Thus far, there have been no bad pictures. The color is great. I really didn't need 3.2 megapixels as I find the size of the pictures when transferred to my PC are much larger than I need. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone.

Strengths: Controls are well designed, large, easy to use.. LCD screen larger and sharper than most. 4x zoom lens is exceptional for this price class, shoots crystal clear pics. Unlimited video and audio.

Weakness: Downloads limited to the jpeg file format. Comes with a long life disposable instead of rechargable battery. Think green, Kodak!

Perfectly suitable for a novice or an experienced user interested in upgrading. My prior camera was a Cannon A60, which was unremarkable except for it's appitite for batteries.

I have owned this camera for about...

I have owned this camera for about 6 months, from the day I got this, the camera has not worked right. I took the camera back to Best Buy where I bought it, I told the service person that the batteries did not seem to hold the power, then at times did not work at all. I argued with this person for over 1/2 hr finally he agreed to send back to manufactuer. Two months later, after many calls to the store, I finally went back to find out what was going on, at first the person said my camera was not fixed, then the camera suddenly showed up. When I asked what was wrong, I was told "it was the batteries I used." Well, here in my hand is the camera, now no matter what batteries I put in the camera, it will not work. I am taking back to the store again and demanding my money back!

Disappointing Quality and Customer Support

Strengths: Nice pictures when camera worked.

Weakness: Poor camera quality and no customer service.

Camera was less than two years old therefore the one year warranty had expired. Paid $250 for camera alone and want $105 to repair which will then come with a 30 day warranty. The camera will not power up, worked one day and not the next day. Customer service put me through hoops purchasing several different types of batteries. Company offered to provide a remanufactured camera for $199, this camera retails for $235 new. Do not buy a Kodak camera!!! They are meant as disposable cameras not built to last.

Bought camera just before my...

Strengths: This camera is easy to use and the 4X is wonderful. Can email pics directly from EasyShare software.

Weakness: Battery and Memory doors are somewhat flimsy - need to be careful when opening and closing them. EasyShare software sometimes does not recognize HP printer - have to close and reopen software.

Bought camera just before my daughter was born and took many great shots. Auto mode is just that and the portrait and close-up modes are very good too. Have not had a chance to use the other modes but I suspect they are easy as well. Did not buy the dock, but invested in the rapid charger, extra battery packs, and the 3v AC adapter. Pictures load up quickly direct from the camera - the dock is not necessary. Love the ability to do a slide show on my TV and the video is very good. Print quality is great - I'm only using an HP deskjet 952C.

Strengths: Good pictures. Easy to use camera.

Weakness: Software problems for Windows. Poor support by Kodak.

I gave this camera as a gift. We found there was a problem in the Kodak Easyshare software that made repairing and re-installing it almost impossible. Had to go to the Kodak website for patches and was directed to go to the Microsoft site for support. After many patches and utilities it finally was working but with problems (error messages during reboot). Contacted Kodak four times and they couldn't fix it and recommended we reinstall the operating system or manually edit the registry files. I was using Win ME. This was a Kodak software issue not a Windows issue.
Very frustrating and the Easyshare software was never able to be fully repaired. Finally returned the camera and bought a different brand.
Poor software and support. It's a shame as the camera worked great and took very good pictures.

The instructions for this camera...

Strengths: Camera is very nice. Lightweight, easy to use, has sports setting for multiple shot sequencing.

Weakness: Can not load on Windows 2000,ME,NT,XP, Operating System, Software does not support it. Can not view pictures at all. Docking system can not be loaded either. The instructions are also a bit scary.

The instructions for this camera are a bit scary.
When using the live field it says that it eats alot of battery. It is a nice feature to be able to have all of the time. But who wants to use up battery power.
Kodak is selling equipment that is unsupported with it's software, if you are using Windows 2000, XP, ME or NT. You can not view your pictures.
The docking station with this camera is the same way. It can not be loaded using Windows 2000, XP, NT, or ME.
Not anywhere on the box does it state that is not Windows 2000, ME, NT, XP Compatable.
I have not been able to view my pictures on computer, so I can't rate it.
I hope Kodak will solve this problem very soon.

Great Family Camera

Strengths: Outstanding picture quality Flexibility: dial on camera allows you to experiment with various modes of picture taking You can buy more memory to store more pictures

Weakness: Some difficulties using the software You'll probably want to buy a supplemental memory card Had to buy a battery door cover -- they are pretty flimsy

I've taken a couple of thousand family pictures and fifty or so movies with my camera, and I'm perfectly satisfied with it. The sharpness of the images impressed me from day one. This is a fun little camera; and, I highly recommend it.
