What seemed to be great at the beginning...Strengths: 2AA size batteries, energy efficiency, best shot selector, sequence shooting, light weight, no length limit for movies, inexpensive SD memory card, TV cable included. Weakness: Long time for making camera ready for the next shot after shooting with flash. Unable to focus in dark and in macro mode. This is my third digital camera. I lost the previous cameras in pub, while being drunk. I chose small size category so that it can fit into my pocket. Within this category, the Nikon 5600 is unusually powerfull. In particular, best shot selector (BSS) allows to take up to 10 shots in a row and it will automatically select the one which is the sharpest - never seen before. It also saves space on the memory card. The memory card - Secure Digital - is one of the cheapest. The built-in microphone records at better quality than in my previous cameras. Nikon 5600 uses two standard AA size batteries, which is #1 criteria for me. I got 2300mAh NiMH batteries from another manufacturer and they last extremely long before they discharge. The included TV cable allows me to preview photos and movies (!) on any TV before the actual download to my computer. Drawbacks: I think that the vast number of presets makes it difficult to remember which preset to use at which time. On the other hand, you can face it as advantage. However, the "party" mode is not wise at all. With several flashes (as anti-red-eye) and increased exposure (to catch the dark background), you may get blurry picture, long time required for making camera ready for the next shot and your friends asking you not to irradiate them anymore :o) Lastly, frequent problem with cameras - unable to focus in dark. 95% of readers found this review helpful. Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: It works great, it takes great pictures for all we have used it for. It is light, compact and easily transportable. Great little camera. Weakness: The only disadvantage I have found is it takes about 2 seconds in between pictures to recharge the flash which is kind of annoying after a while, but besides this we have been very pleased. We have been pleased with this camera so far. It performs well. I have been sufficiently pleased with the quality of the pictures and the software that links the camera with the computer works great as well. 95% of readers found this review helpful. Nikon Coolpix 5600 5 MP CameraStrengths: Small size, easy to handle, AA batteries and above all picture quality Weakness: No memory card included. Camera takes extra time in between pictures to recharge the flash. Nikon has very good reputation for cameras and so far I am pleased with the performance of this compact camera. Picture quality is nice. It has lots of presets to choose from and hence good for new users. 94% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: good handling, excellent macros, and good quality 5MP images Weakness: No Memory Card included The Nikon Coolpix 5600 is a very attractive point-and-shoot digital camera that is pocketable and extremely light. The 1.8 in. LCD is pretty good, with enough resolution. Good quality images with nice colours and sharpness straight out of the camera. But it takes quite a long time (about 2 1/2 hrs) to recharge a pair of NiMH batteries once they are fully depleted. And it is not really an indoors camera since it lacks an AF Assist Illuminator and the LCD monitor does not gain up in low-light. 94% of readers found this review helpful. Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: small size, lots of built in picture modes - little work involved in taking pictures Weakness: sometimes in certain modes, no matter how steady you hold your hand, the picture comes out blurry nevertheless. camera turns off when batteries are depleted without warning. the camera is nice for the price but the quality isn't so great. most of the time the pictures are great if taken outside. when i take pictures inside under artificial light, the colors always come out wrong. while the pictures don't necessarily look "bad" they are not true to life. skin tones don't come out correctly. outside pictures are great and i especially like the quality of the pictures taken of things under water. I take pictures of the fish in our pond and the pictures come out great. the camcorder mode is super, there is good sound and lots of different settings for video quality. moreover, the camera continues taping as long as there is still memory in the camera or card. the camera does flash a warning when batteries are "low" but you have no idea how low until it just turns off. 92% of readers found this review helpful. nikon 5600Strengths: Small, AA battery use, Great outdoor pics Weakness: Flash recharge time is close to 10 sec, Terrible! You can update the firmware for nikon cameras, but as of yet there is no update for this camera. I would not buy this camera. The flash issue is to big a problem and I have tried digital rechargables batteries.... no good. Tried indoor photo's with no flash, adjusting the ISO/ASA, blurry. Even when I eposure compensate. Nikon dropped the ball. I am really hoping a firmware updat will address these issues. 92% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Blurry BabiesStrengths: Small Weakness: Too many blurry pictures I am very, very unhappy with this camera. It takes too long to re-charge, 2-3 seconds. I took pictures of the family at the holidays, The children's pictures came out as little blurs on the screen. Even the adults were blurry. I purchased it only last August and I am so unhappy that I am already looking for a replacement. I am much happier with the pictures I took with my 35 mm. 71% of readers found this review helpful. Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Very Small, Light weight, Nice picture quality Weakness: Flimsy I had a older kodak model 2 MP digital camera. I bought this camera because of the price and its compactness. I am not disappointed. Optical Zoom 3x is good enough for me, the main advantage is camera takes AA batteries. Outdoor snaps are pretty good. Some times i get red eye in the indoor snaps, but you can always correct it with tons of software around. Overall nice unit and i recommend to any one. 70% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Compaq but powerfull. Pictures quality are great. Stylish. Easy to use when transfering to PC. Weakness: 2 AA batteries take few seconds to recharge the flash. Nikon is a well known brand name for camera. The name speaks itself for pictures quality, sharpness. The egonomic of the camera is stunning, it is much smaller then I expected it. Price is great for 5.1 mega pixels. Very friendly for first time operator, need to read to manual if you want to move to advance mode. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

I Hate This Nikon 5600 CameraStrengths: Batteries last okay. Fits in your pocket, Shoots Quick Time movies in a pinch. Weakness: Blury Pics, Flash recovery takes 10 secs, front lens cover doesn't close all the way,Doesn't focus in low light, You just have to guess and shoot no matter what setting you're on. I wish I had purchased a Canon. I have always loved the quality my Nikon 35mm camera produced. So, naturally I trusted that their 5600 Coolpix would have the same quality or close to it. NOT!!! I spent around $300 after buying the Flash Card, Batteries and Charger only to find out I bought JUNK. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact CameraStrengths: Small Weakness: Battery Cover cracked in first 2 months of ownership. Difficult to focus Nikon would not stand by its warranty and charged me $117 to fix the broken cover. The cover first cracked because it is difficult to close it (it closes in a very non-traditional way). I was always faithful to Nikon but after the way they treated me with the warranty (they completely broke off the cover and then sent me pictures to show me that it was excessive wear and tear), I will NEVER buy a Nikon again. I was considering the Canon at the time and will now buy Canon in the future. Nikon lost a customer for life for the sake of a $117 repair charge. 64% of readers found this review helpful. Feb 20, 2006 My girlfriend and I purchased this camera together, I loke to read manuals, she liked the idea that it was compact, and cute. (I have no idea how she came across this camera, as I wanted to research it thoroughly online to read reviews.) turns out that most of the reviews from people who read the manual had great things to say about it, while those like my girlfriend who took the words point and shoot literally had some frustrations. however once you play with it enough to get the hang of the Autofocus using the shutter button, and experiment with the white balance exposure settings, it is quite easy to compose and consistently take clear images.

The Best Digital Camera AvailableStrengths: Easy to use. Takes great pictures. Weakness: None. This camera is very easy to use. Use it as a point and shoot or change the settings and use it for the specific situation. The camera is also light weight and easy to handle. This camera does everything I was looking for in an inexpensive digital camera. It has a great zoom and you can also do a short video. The video and sound can be played back on the LCD screen or on the T.V. or computer. It also has a red-eye fix built right in to the camera so you don't have to correct it on your computer. You can't go wrong with this camera. 62% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Look over this oneStrengths: Size, AA battery ease of replacement, SD Weakness: Indoor shoot times are horrible. I bought this camera just before my son was born and once he started moving around on his own we missed tons of great shots as this camera takes forever to focus and pop the flash and then takes another good five seconds to recharge the flash. By then my son is on to something else and we missed the shot. I cannot emphasize enough how slow this camera is indoors. Outdoors is much better, but not blazing by any means. Nikon Coolpix 5600 Digital Camera Review
The recently released Nikon Coolpix 5600 targets users looking for a simple and compact digital camera to assume the brunt of the work. The Coolpix 5600 packs 5.36 total megapixels on its 1/2.5-inch CCD with 5.1 megapixels effective in creating images. Nikon applied a 3x optical zoom lens and 1.8” LCD monitor to the short, silver frame. The 1.8” screen is on the smaller end of cameras... Top

Nikon Coolpix 5600 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera
Strengths: quick change batteries AA easy to get while on trips. easy to understand and self defining options and menus.
Weakness: Blurs more frequently than it should, The 14 day return policy is not enough to allow for proper use before loosing ability to be left paying 10% restock fee.
This camera replaced my rustic old Sony Mavica FD85 and it does not seem to be up to the speed of that old battle worn cam as far as start time, picture ready after flash use, setting of flash also needs to be reset with each consecutive pic. Not at all what I expected to get from Nikon. I will return it and try to find another with a quicker sequential picture capability and non blurring, this cam blurred often during the month of use.....good luck and hope this helps make your choice easier....Ill read others comments before buying again....
