Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Huge & bright 2.5" LCD screen, very compact & slim body design, good control layout, quick start-up time.

Weakness: No optical viewfinder, relatively short battery life.

I bought this camera as a replacement for my DSC-W1. I was really impressed by the design. However, it does have its downside. You can't operate it using one hand since the slide cover is on the left & the shutter control is on the right. There's a noticeable lag when taking pictures in low-light conditions. Finally, you need to use a separate adapter when connecting the USB.

You should use your middle finger of your right hand to open the slide cover. Fast and easy. I think it's the main advantage of the camera. Grab it out of your pocket one-handed, flip open, take picture and back in your pocket, within 5 secs. In this way you also save your battery.

Sony DSC-T7 Great!

Strengths: Small and light. Quick response. Great styling. Excellent LCD display. Great pictures.

Weakness: Battery life. Weak flash.

This is an excellent camera. Everyone comments how great it looks. The pictures are on par with other 5mp cameras out there. The only real gripe is the weak flash. The way I see it is...I'm not taking pictures of far away objects at night so its fine. This camera is great for getting those "in the moment" pictures. Very thin and light. Although its very sturdy, sometimes I can't help but feel I might break it cause its so small. Battery life is weaker then other cameras, but its still good for abt 1 1/2 hour of use on a full charge. Extra battery can be bought for extra $40, so no big deal. You definitely want to get at least a 512mb memory stick for use with this camera.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Extremely small, great pictures, wow factor.....

Weakness: Almost too small at times, New proprietary battery.....

I love Sony cameras. I've had a FD-95, CD1000, F707, P2, P8, V1?, T1, M1, and now the T7. My only complaint with this camera, and it's not really a complaint, is that my spare battery from the T1 (and M1) won't work. It uses a new, smaller battery. There is no way they could have made it the size that it is if it didn't use a smaller battery, though. I bought a generic battery for a spare, for about 1/3 of the cost of the Sony battery. I plan to buy the Sony soft case, but for now I bought a memory card case that the camera fits perfectly into. It would actually come pretty close to fitting into a Sony memory stick clamshell case if you gutted it... It is unbelievable just how small this camera is. You just have to hold it to believe it!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Small, thin, and high resolution

Weakness: short battery life, 32MB card is useless

I've been looking at this Sony T series for quite a while now... I thought the T33 was thin, but they even made it thinner on the T7. This is my second digital camera, and I think it's definitely worth your money. It fits right in my shirt pocket... and has lots of modes you can select from to shoot the ideal picture. Take your time to look through the manual and you'll get better pictures. The camera has a histogram and vibration warning, so you'll know when its best to shoot or not. The downside is that the battery runs out pretty fast (about an hour and half)... but if you have the money, you can get another one for bout $50 bucks or so. And definitely get a bigger and better memory card. The 32MB will only hold like 15 pictures. I got the 512MB High speed one, which is plenty for hi-res pictures, and it will right up to 80Mbps rather than the 15MMbps that the regular cards have... Faster speed, faster picture taking. There's also a cool case designed just for the camera for about $30 bucks, but there doesn't seem to be any place online or store that has it in stock as of right now. Buy this camera online, save you some money, and you'll love it!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Ultra Thin, High Resolution, Simple Design, Useful Tools!

Weakness: Short Battery Time, 32M Memory Stick is Useless

I bought this camera a week ago. I took lots of pics w/ it and they are perfect! The camera is extremely thin, so I can keep it in my pocket. It is the best digital camera now. However, the battery time is short and 32MB Memory Stick is useless (it could keep 10 pic of 5M resolution). I had to buy 1 GB memory stick).

Sony DSC-T7 camera

Strengths: Small size, Great clear pictures, easy on-off with quick start up. Movie feature easy to use. 2.5" LCD is very clear and bright even outdoors.

Weakness: 32 MB standard mem stick does not hold many pictures. Have to remove battery to charge it. Occassionally turned on when carried in my pocket.

What a neat camera!! I looked and evaluated reviews for 2 months before I purchased the T7. The camera is so simple to use: carry in a pocket, pull out, slide the cover open, and you are ready to shoot crisp clear pictures in seconds. Battery life seemed a little short but the charger is small and easy to carry when traveling. I think an extra battery will be a good investment. The 32 MB stick that is standard is not real useful. I purchased a 512 Mb Memory Stick Duo Pro. It holds near 200 pictures at the highest resolution. Picture transfer to my MAC was plug and play, no problems. Amazing performance from such a small camera. Highly recommended!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Size, Easy to use, Excellent Photo quality

Weakness: No product weaknesses

The camera has met all of my expectations, and then some. Obviously, the size of the DSC-T7 is the first attribute to grab anyone's attention. It is hardly noticeable carrying it around in my pocket. The features are comparable to all modern digital cameras, and adequate for most any enthusiast. But the primary purpose of this gadget is to have a great camera that's phenomenally easy to take along where ever you go. It was a bit pricey, but worth the difference compared with other (nearly) similar products. I find the camera to be extremely well made, and of excellent quality. One caveat (not camera related, but more Sony related) is that accessories are hard to come by. Memory Stick Duo at 1G are sold out everywhere, and cases and the rather interesting sport case (a plastic enclosure that allows underwater use for the camera) are back-ordered as well. I placed an order for these items at Chumbo.com (good prices), and expect to be patient in getting the extras I desire. I would highly recommend this camera!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Size and convenience

Weakness: Grainy indoor pictures, not very good in low light, uses memory stick duo (more expensive than other options)

I really was excited to get this camera. I have a Canon 20D, which is wonderful, but it is far from convenient to lug around on an everyday basis. I got the Sony because of it's size and resolution. The first pics I took outside came out great. Inside pics or low light pics require quite a bit of work to get right. Even with the extra work required, I still noticed quite a bit of noise in the picture. If you require great photos or often are in low light situations, look elsewhere. If you want a decent camera that is very convenient and are not too biased against the extra cost of memory stick duo media, then this camera is a good bet.

I've had the camera for 6 months and I agree 100% with this comment. It's a small, stylish camera that takes good photos in bright light. It is pretty much useless indoors.

Sony T7 - Excellent all round camera

Strengths: Size, functionality, performance

Weakness: Poor battery life, especially in cold conditions

Overall this is an excellent camera - whether you are taking 'happy snaps' or want to take more serious photographs. You definitely need a minimum 512Mb memory card because you will find you enjoy taking photos so much. The low-light shooting can be a little tricksy. One problem I encountered was when I was taking photos in very cold conditions - the temperature was -10C. The battery ran down very quickly, and I was forced to keep my spare battery (and the camera) inside my jacket in order to keep them warmer! This did help to prolong the battery a little. Despite all that, I have taken many, many photographs and now need more hard disk storage on my computer.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Stylish,extremely small,large lcd screen

Weakness: short battery life, weak flash.

This sony T7 is great. It is so small, you can fit in your shirt pocket or pants pocket and would not know it's even there. It starts up very fast and has very little shutter lag. The large lcd screen 2.5" is great for taking/viewing the pics. The 5.1mp photos are very good although not as good as photos from my Olympus 4040/4mp. The sony proprietary battery is short lived probably due to the large lcd display and the small size of the battery. Don't attempt to use the flash over 7' away as the images will be dark. If you want a stylish, extremely small 5.1mp camera with lots of features, this is the one to get. I've only had it for 4 days, will update after a few more weeks if I have more to add.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7 5.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: small, picture very clear.

Weakness: the battery life is little too short. memory is too small.

nice to have, especially b/c of the size. it is very thin, so it fit into any pocket and you wouldn't even notice is there. i will recommend people to buy it. and you should buy another larger memory stick too, maybe a back up battery, since the battery that came with it don't last that long.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T7 Digital Camera

Strengths: Small Size. LCD display. External Battery Charger.

Weakness: Some controls are small and may be a little awkward depending on size of your hands.

This thing is TINY! It Fits in my shirt pocket. It has a Nice Large vivid LCD display. Very easy to set up. However it only comes with a 32MB memory card, so you will need to pick up another larger capacity card. I like the external battery charger so I won't have to charge the battery while it's in the camera.

Slim is the way to go

Strengths: Very small, easy to carry around. Quick response as you would expect from Sony. Big LCD, very user-friendly.

Weakness: Weak flash, navigation buttons on left side instead of the conventional right, battery life.

The T7 has improved from T1 and T33. It is slimmer and it is so small that it is sure to amaze plenty of people. Weak flash has still been a little of a a problem, especially indoor takes. The 2.5" LCD is large enough, although it doesn't have an optical viewfinder. This time they made some changes so that you can dock it to a tripod unlike the previous T1, with a little help from the attachment piece included. The navigation buttons are located on the left side as opposed to the right in previous digicams. Picture quality is above average, but I wouldn't say it's atop.

Great camera

Strengths: Incredibly small, one of the most simplest cameras to use, software installation is a breeze, and picture quality is terrific

Weakness: Internal memory is virtually useless unless switched to the lowest resolution, unsteady hand leads to blurry picture due to ultra small lens, low light situations can get on your nerves

Overall I think the camera is great! It's incredibly light and small, the screen is big for such a small camera, comes with a neat stand, price for extra memory isn't pleasing, but it'll do. Cheap price for such an amazing and utterly small camera. I love it and so will you!

Cool

Strengths: nice design;

Weakness: dark imaage; short battery life;

The DSC T7 has a very good LCD display screen and the design, especially the slimness. The image got kind of dark after I download it into my PC and see it. And again, the battery life is a problem. It is quite short. But then, the extra battery pack is also not that expensive.

Sony TSC-T7

Strengths: Small and Well Built excellent picture quality. Great underwater housing. Movies are great to play back on large screen

Weakness: Have to getr used to no viewfinder

This camera is so great that I bought one for each of my adult kids and my brother. The underwater housing is fabulous. I took it to Costa Rica and snorkeled and got fabulous pictures and swam with it everyday. I never go anywhere without it. The pictures are very sharp to print and the exposure is excellent. I also have a Sony p200 and a Nikon 880. I just take this everywhere and enjoy the big LCD screen. It has so many features. The movie feature on the big screen is excellent for Golf and other sports. And everyone who sees it wants one. I like it better than the other newer one and other makes. The proprietary battery is sweet and easy to charge. There are some very sophisticated features, I have yet to explore. What can I say, I am sold on it. I bought these cool Timbuck2 ipod cases for every one. They fit it perfectly. They come in colors and have a hole it the flap, so you don't loose it.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T7

The new Sony DSC-T7 takes "thin" to a whole new level for a sophisticated digital camera design. By far the thinnest Cyber-shot to date, the Sony T7 is noteworthy not only for its amazingly thin profile, but for the range of features and image quality that the Sony engineers managed to pack into its tiny frame. While there are always compromises when making a super-tiny digicam, the Sony T7 does...
