Strengths: Low light capability with an f/2.0 lens, full manual controls, well built, amazing photos, great screen, HDMI output
Weaknesses: No HD video mode, the strap
Summary: The Canon S90 is finest point and shoot I've ever owned. I've shot with the Panasonic DMC-FX50 and the Canon SD790IS prior to this camera. When my wife and I went to Europe in November 2009 she kept taking amazing photos with her Canon 5D Mark II and my photos from the Canon SD790IS couldn't approach them. She explained that I had no manual controls. I was fed up and found the Panasonic DMC-LX3 and the Canon S90. I opted for the S90 because of the size. If HD video is more important than the size, get the Panasonic. If manual controls aren't important for you, the F/2.0 lens might be - it takes great shots in low light without a flash. If you simply need a normal point and shoot camera where you're going to set it to full auto and take pictures with a flash, don't waste your money purchasing this camera. You'll be better suited buying a less expensive Canon with more features. If, instead, you want most of the capabilities of a DSLR then you're at the right place.
