An OK camera

Strengths: Light weight, takes only 2 AA batteries, Good picture quality.

Weakness: LCD is too dark, very small view finder, slow access of card. Video recording in low light is very bad. No manual controls.

I had somewhat high hopes when I ordered this, after reading user reviews here. I read about the dark LCD, but underestimated the reviewers here. Even after increasing the brightness to maximum, it is too dark to see anything in the indoor conditions (to make it worse, the viewfinder is too small). The problem seems to be with the CCD itself, as the video capture in the same conditions is exactly as you see in the LCD screen (I replayed on the PC). Another major complaint I have is the slow write and read speeds. Even at 3:2 quality (3Meg), the camera takes significant time to write the previous shot and become ready for the next one. I see the same problem to read as well, to copy onto the PC. I am using the Olympus 1GB card (Type H). These 1gb cards have built-in compression, which might partly be the reason for this slowness (in which case, it is better to buy two 512mb cards).

On the plus side, the autofocus response is not bad, and flash seems to be strong enough for most purposes. The picture quality itself is not bad. The LCD brightness is not a big issue in the bright conditions (again as I said, the problem doesn't seem to be with LCD itself, it is the sensor).

I bought it as a gift, and have not tried it long enough to test the battery life etc. I own Canon A610, and owned various Nikon cameras before (800, 950, 990), so compared to these high quality cameras, I would rate this only 3 stars. If you take a lot of pictures indoor, I don't recommend this.

Fuji A350

Strengths: the price is the best among 5MP DC I have ever seen( I got a deal though).1.7" color TFT LCD monitor with selectable 3:2 aspect ratio, you got the pic what you saw from the LCD

Weakness: it uses a XD card, this is the most thing I would complain, the price for large compacity XD card is expensive,so you have to consider this factor when purchase

overall, I would say this is an affordable 5MP DC for beginnner.what needs to be mentioned is its USB interface and video output, fast for easy transfers.for other aspects, I would say they are similar to canon and nikon.
However, consider the memory card b4 your purchase, if you took pic a lot, I don't remcomend this DC, now SD card prices are going down, XD card is too much to afford I would say.

Fuji FinePix A350 Digital Camera

Strengths: compact, stylish, AA batteries

Weakness: xD card

Good camera and good price. This camera is very compact, yet offers high resolution. Perfect for travel and family pictures. Just point and shoot. As with most digital cameras, this camera will consume a lot of batteries power. Just use decent rechargeable batteries, and you're good to go. The only downside, it uses expensive xD card.

Nice 5MP camera for an affordable price

Strengths: Compact, features,,movie mode w/sound, excellent prints

Weakness: AA batteries.

There were only a couple of things I didn't like, but can live with. The first is that the zoom lens automatically shoots out when you turn the camera on. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, but the pictures come out fine.
The second thing is that you have to do all your settings from the view screen. Most cameras have a wheel on them to adjust for the type of picture you want to take, ie:portrait, night, landscape. When first learning the settings constantly using the view screen does drain the batteries. When shooting the view screen can be turned off and you can use the eye viewer instead.
Overall, I am very pleased with the camera and the photos I have taken and printed

Mostly Good, Some Bad

Strengths: Good to Very Good picture quality; fairly small and light, manual controls via menu provide enough flexibility for many situations. Was great for night exposures without flash.

Weakness: Auto exposure mode doesn't seem to set well, producing many pix which are either too dark or too light; battery life is less than expected; menu takes some getting used to to for all the settings.

This is my first foray into the world of digital photography. I researched various cameras for weeks, finally settling on the FinePix A350 for the combination of its small size, use of AA batteries (great if you travel to areas where you can't readily find spares of proprietary batteries and can't recharge those - I've managed to recharge AA batteries with a solar charger while on a bike tour), good picture quality and feature set. My first use of this camera was during a month long trip to Italy a few months ago. It fit the bill for what I wanted fairly nicely - small, but not an ultra-compact, nice feel, very good pix and colors, and ruggedness (I tend to be very rough with my cameras). Overall, I am fairly happy with this camera, however, it took a while for me to become proficient with all its exposure features. The drawbacks include a slow auto-exposure mechanism which doesn't seem to get the lighting correct on backlit subjects or on sunny days. I ended up using the manual controls most of the time and those enabled me to get many great shots, including night ones, without using a flash, and really play with all sorts of effects.

The lens cover is two triangular pieces which mesh automatically. This got stuck in a half-open position one week into my trip (one part of the cover closed, one didn't), but I managed to push the stuck part back enough to get photos. After a few days and more knocking around, the problem self-corrected and it has been functioning fine since then.

I primarily adjust the various flash settings and exposure controls to get the shots I want, as I've found that the automatic systems are less dependable.

Regarding ruggedness: I knocked this camera around quite a bit, and other than the aforementioned lens cover problem, there have not been any problems.

Battery life: not as good as I hoped, but I always carry two spare sets. If the spares weren't fully recharged, I had to nurse my shots and play with swapping all the batteries around to squeeze the last bit of juice out of them to get the last shot of the day. Fortunately, I was able to purchase a set of AA batteries when all mine were exhausted, so I could continue shooting until mine could recharge. I didn't lose too many picture opportunities because of this, but it was frustrating and time consuming having to constantly try different battery combinations.

For a small, compact travel camera which is very versatile, this is a great camera. For something more professional, with better automatic exposure control and features, use one of the higher grade Fujis.

Fujifilm FinePix A345 4.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Great photos even lowlight, awesome lcd, average zoom and very fast power up feature, not a battery hog

Weakness: Some advance features missing but can't complain for a top notch 5 megapixel point and shoot.

I would definitely purchase again..in fact am buying 2 more for family members..Xd card cost a bit more but seem to be faster plus I bought a thumbdrive that takes Xd cards so they can do double duty. I highly recommend this camera.

Fujifilm FinePix A345 4.1 Megapixel Compact Camera

Strengths: Easy to use, smooth operation, uses regular AA batteries

Weakness: Limited menu functions

Excellent product in the class of 5+ MP cameras. Good optical zoom. For a "point and shoot" camera, can't beat the quality and price. Overall a great buy from a reputed company which has dealt with photography for decades.

Quite a nice camera

Strengths: -Easy to navigate menus -Nice sized screen -Auto flash -Easy to change shooting modes -Small and compact

Weakness: -Only comes with a 16mb xD card -Not a good "first camera" for someone. It would be better as a camera for someone who has experience with taking digital pictures.

I purchased this camera as a replacement for my HP Photosmart 320. When I initially opened the box and started to use the camera, I was amazed at all the features of this camera. Granted that my HP was your basic "starter camera" this seems to be a significant step up.

As stated previously, this camera has a lot of features. The thing that impressed me the most is zoom. The pictures are really sharp. The menus are easy to navigate, but it would be recommended to read the manual (or at least the last few pages) so that the user will know what each icon that appears actually means.

Another neat thing with this camera is that not only does it record video, but it also records the audio. The video is not the greatest quality, but is acceptable for a camera of this caliber.

All in all, I am very happy with this camera, and I just need more time to explore more of its features. I would definitely recommend it though.

Compact but too much delay

Strengths: compact form use 2 AA batteries

Weakness: delay in taking picture

I like this Fuji camera, since it's very handy and easy to take it anywhere. Its menu is simple. However, if you are taking picture of a moving object, this camera is really bad. It shutter delay is really annoying. You won't get the picture that you intended to take. One alternative to overcome this problem is by using continuous shooting mode. The pictures will be saved to an xD card.

Great picture quality but feels cheap.

Strengths: Excellent picture after overcoming the weak autofocus.

Weakness: Slow lens mechanism, Cheap Feel, Poor LCD.

This camera is one of the cheaper, yet powerful 5.2MP. We are talking a sub $200 5.2MP by a name brand. Just like many other digital cameras with small sensor, the low light photos are disappointing. The coverage of the flash is also limited, resulting in a camera useless in low light. The LCD is large compare to some of the similar size models but not as good as some of the sonys and canons. And the menu is not as easy to nevigate. Together with the fact that xDs are some of the more expensive cards these days, I woould not recommand this camera. But with sufficient light, the 5.2 mp pictures are great for this price tag.

good camera for a cheap price

Strengths: 5 megapixel, 12.2 zoom (3x optical, 4.1x digital)

Weakness: xD card is expensive

this is a good camera for its price. its 5 megapixel with 12.2x zoom (3x optical, 4.1x digital). other than the lcd, it also has the traditional peekhole. this is a plus since if its really bright outside, its really hard to see through the lcd and you will need the traditional hole to get a good alignment of an image. the only real downside to a fuji camera is that the xD card is really expensive, a lot more so than the SD card that canon, nikon, etc. use.

FujiFilm FinePix A350

FujiFilm has always had a reputation for doing things a bit differently, and the A350 is the lone camera in this price range sporting an xD memory card slot as well as a massive 5.2-MP sensor. Unfortunately, this camera has a decidedly unfriendly interface, with most controls only accessible from the...

Fujifilm FinePix A350

The Fujifilm FinePix A350 is the latest in a long line of entry-level cameras from Fujifilm, a line that's been associated with good color and pleasing images, even at bargain-basement prices. With a 5.2-megapixel CCD and 3x optical zoom lens, the Fuji FinePix A350 continues that tradition in an attractive new design, although image resolution isn't really on par with the best 5-megapixel models...

Fujifilm FinePix A350 Digital Camera Review

The Fujifilm FinePix A350 jumps into a saturated market as a camera aimed at the automatically oriented crowd. The camera takes a minimalist approach with few buttons and few options, creating a primarily automatic interface for the beginner or strictly point-and-shoot users. However, it is still a step up from last year's model, the Fujifilm FinePix A340. Fujifilm pumped a lot of money into...
