Powershot SX39

Strengths: Excellent zoom without changing lens

Weakness: Poor focus on Macro

I've only had this camera a few days. I was in the market for a new camera and had been doing a lot of research. On the Web and with some friends. I have had several Cannon cameras before and have been pleased with them. Most of my experience with cameras is with older manual focus 35mm types. I've had a couple of digital cameras and like all of us I like not having to buy film and being able to edit and delete photos in the digital form. I have experienced a lot of trouble getting this camera to focus properly on close up Macro shots. Anyone have any suggestions?

great little package

Strengths: macro to 840 mm equivalent without changine lenses.

Weakness: slow multi shot, takes too long to regenerate for next shot.still don't trust rechargeable batteries, I always buy at least 2, but end up forgetting to recharge onewhen I get the chance.

First thing I do when I get a new camera is take pictures of the moon....holy mackeral you can zoom in to more than fill the viewfinder with a full moon and get decent shots of the craters. The only thing my Canon SLR has over this model is the quicker multishots and the BULB feature to keep the shutter open as long as you want......this one is only up to 15 seconds.

Remarkable Camera!

Strengths: Ease of Use, Quality of Pictures, Zoomability, Seems Like a Higher Priced Camera

Weakness: Flash at night is a bit overwhelming when in a confined area.

The ONLY negative I can find about this marvelous camera is that if your at a concert or a similar venue, you might be asked to put it away because the flash is sooo distracting. It's very bright and folks around you might not be too pleased with you. My suggestion would be to buy an auxiliary flash to tone it down. Otherwise, this is a top-notch camera well worth the price and then some.

DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot SX30 IS

With their PowerShot SX30 IS, Canon has created a super zoom camera with a focal range that a few years ago seemed impossible. But somehow they managed to stuff a 35X, 24 - 840 mm lens into a midsize body, though not without some compromises in the image quality department.

Canon PowerShot SX30IS

The Canon PowerShot SX30IS is a high-end point-and-shoot camera set to be released in September, 2010. According to the manufacturer, this is the world’s first camera with a 35x zoom lens. Canon PowerShot SX30 IS review at Camera Labs

Canon continues to build on the reputation of one of the best super-zooms around, audaciously upping the ante by equipping the SX30 IS with a jaw-dropping 35x optical zoom lens. There's not much you can't photograph with a lens that extends from 25 to 850mm and there's certainly very little in terms of competing models that come close to that range. Other improvements, though less eye-catching,...

The new Canon PowerShot SX30 IS compact camera climbs straight to the top of the super-zoom ladder with its incredible 35x, 24-840mm optical lens - truly all the focal range that most photographers will ever need or use. Canon PowerShot SX30 IS Review

Now one of the longest of the long zooms on the market, the Canon SX30 is a blast to use. The size and shape of a small digital SLR, the Canon SX30, is a 35x, 14.1-megapixel digital camera with a swivel screen and image stabilization built in. Ranging from 24-840mm, the Canon SX30's zoom changes how you think about photography. You can selectively crop anything you can see, and the Canon SX30's...
