HP Photosmart M22 is a horrible camera - do not buyStrengths: Small. Weakness: It broke after approx. 20 uses - less than a year owned, short warranty period in U.S., made from refurbished parts, many scathing reviews on other websites from people with similar issues as mine. I bought this camera in August '05 at a great price. I figured it was inexpensive, but since it was HP the quality must be good. About a month ago I went to use the camera and noticed the batteries needed to be replaced - well it took me about a month to finally pick up some digital camera specific batteries. Unfortunately after replacing the batteries the camera no longer turned on. So I followed the troubleshooting info in the user's manual and still nothing. I called HP troubleshooting and they told me that the camera had only a 90 day warranty and it would cost $30 to troubleshoot, but that I needed to be using Energizer Lithium batteries. So I went out and bought the specific batteries and still the camera does not work. I feel jipped by HP and will no longer buy products from them. I wish HP would clearly represent their products - the fact that the 90 day warranty and made from refurbished parts isn't clearly stated on the outside of the packaging is very disconcerting. 0% of readers found this review helpful. great camera for beginnerStrengths: light to carry with; slim; stylish; very easy to use Weakness: NA so far I bought the digital camera together with an Epson printer to qualify for an epson printer and camera rebate. After the rebate, I paid for less than $100 for the camera. For the price like this, I am quite happy with the digital camera. It's very convenient to carry with. The camera is light in weight and small in size. It's as small as my credit card except being a little thick than the credit card. I even can put it in my pocket. The camera is very easy to use, even for a beginner like my girl friend. She is able to figure out how to use it by herself without reading the user manual. She likes the camera and used it often on her project. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

goodStrengths: 4-megapixel CCD captures, easy use!Weather-resistant, all-metal body; 1.5-inch LCD display Weakness: no optial zoom, batteries killer I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. But this would be a really great little camera if it wasn't for the fact that I had to change the batteries several times a day. I tried using alkaline, NiMH rechargable, and lithium, and the results were exactly the same. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP Photosmart M22 Digital CameraStrengths: Affordable, easy to use, take nice photos Weakness: Batteries die quickly This HP Photosmart M22 Digital Camera is a brand name digital camera at an affordable price. It is easy to use, and takes nice clear photos. However, you can only take about 40 pictures (with flash) with normal alkaline batteries. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Great price-benefitStrengths: Small, light weight, beautiful, help menus, easy to use, records video+audio Weakness: MUST get a baterry recharger, the video is a little dark if taken inside I have no big issues about it not having optical zoom, overall the camera seems pretty cool for me, the only thing is that if you are using standard batteries they dont last even for 2 hours, so I had to go get a battery recharger but make sure the rechargeable batteries you get say "2500 mAh" because I got the wrong ones (2000 mAh) and they didnt work. I will also get some extra memory, but it is really a great camera if you dont want to spend a lot of money. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP (Hewlett-Packard) Photosmart M22 Compact CameraStrengths: Price (cheap), Size (very small - actually is like a pocket camera) Weakness: Quality, Battery Consumption, No Optical Zoom, Tiny LCD (display) I bought this camera from HP Shopping. I took like 20 pictures and it stop working, just like that. Besides that, after only 10 pictures I got to replace the batteries; the LCD visor was just to small and you can't see any detail, just take the picture and wait until you see it in your PC to know if you took it right. Havin' no optical zoom is frustraiting, even for a novice in digital cameras, like myself. My sister paid more for a similar camera from Sony and I know why - Low price = Low Quality. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

review for HP M22 digital cameraStrengths: High resolution, fashionable, weather resistant Weakness: No optical zoom I bought this one month ago and I love it very much. Although it has no optical zoom, but it has a 6X digital zoom which can also meet my need. It has 4.0MP resolution, but so attempting, but for the price I got it (100 dollars) it definitely a good camera. Also it is weather resistant, so you don't need to worry that your camera can not act properly during rainy weather. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Nice digital Camera for the low priceStrengths: Low price, Light weight, good picture quality Weakness: No optical zoom I purchase this camera from staples. The price is very nice, especially after my 20 off camera coupon. Its small size and light weight make it easy to carry and allow me to use basically anywhere. The picture quality is quite good. Of course, no optical zoom is a weakness while all my other digital cameras have at least 3X optical zoom. But for the price, I don't expect more. 71% of readers found this review helpful. Not too shabbyStrengths: Great price and resolution Weakness: Skimps a bit on the features,no optical zoom really hurts this camera Given that I picked this camera up for about 100 dollars, it really is a great deal. It has great resolution and takes sharp pictures. The big complaint here is the lack of optical zoom. Digital zoom just can't compare with the optical. Overall, it's a good entry level camera 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Nice digital camera! Photosmart M22 Digital CameraStrengths: Low price, easy to use, high quality picture Weakness: No optical zoom I bought it from staples for 100 bucks and find it is easy to use and high quality. The camera has a small size, so it is easy to carry when I am in travel. Furthermore, the picture is crystle since it is 4M resolution. It can also record video with sound (My old camera can not record sound). Strongly recommend it! 80% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Decent Value for a 4MB cameraStrengths: Good photo quality, relatively cheap, weather resistant Weakness: No Optical Zoom Good entry level camera. Photo quality is about an 8 out of 10, with only much more sophisticated cameras taking better still shots in good light. Flash is adequate, but not spectacular. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Review for Photosmart M22 Digital CameraStrengths: Cute outlook. And it is really a nice camera to keep in pocket. And the price is also good for non-professional use. 4MB is enough for fun. Weakness: No optical zoom-in, that is why the price is low. Also you need to buy a lot of batteries for it. good for kids use or emergency use maybe sporting events, it's so compact as a 4.0 MP camera.Price Performance Ratio is good for this camera. But it does have a very long lag you need to stand. Over all it is a nice camera. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Great ValueStrengths: Affordable. Light weight. Weather-resistant Weakness: No optical zoom What I like most about this little camera is that it is light and weather-resistant. That means I can carry this camera with ease and don't need to worry about rains. It has many features considering its size and price: 4.0 MP, 6X digital Zoom, and internal 16MB memory. The only drawback is that it does not have optical zoom function. I'm satisfied with this camera in other aspects. 100% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP Photosmart M22 Digital CameraStrengths: Light weight easy to use. Weakness: None This is one the best camera for travel. It's light weight, fits right in your pocket, and easy to use. The silver metal all weather resistance makes the camera looks very nice. Price is very reasonable for 6 megapixel. I highly recommend this camera. 100% of readers found this review helpful. a compact camera with good quality you can haveStrengths: compact, good picture quality Weakness: limited controls On a good note one of the features that i liked was the Adaptive Lighting Technology feature. if you are taking a picture and your main subject is lit and the background is dark, then this technlogy will make the background brighter and more vivid color. This technology is great, if you are able to get a decent picture. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HP Photosmart M22
Strengths: Lightweight, pocket-size, water resistant, easy to download pictures, takes acceptable pictures down to fairly low lighting
Weakness: Slide lens cover doesn't always engage power; battery hog
One must use rechargeable batteries with a high milli-amp rating or the camera has trouble turning on, or else the door slide switch was defective on my camera, as it often didn't turn on until the door was sharply opened. This is annoying and potentially damaging to the camera on a long-term basis due to "necessary" heavy-handedness. Using alkaline batteries is of course handy, but the camera runs through them after a minimal number of shots. If a memory card is inserted, the camera then has the potential to take a lot of shots. Due to the battery issue and the lens cover/switch issue, I would not enthusiastically recommend this camera. If not put in one's pocket the "right" direction, the lens cover slides open and thus on, needlessly running down the battery. On the other hand, the camera is otherwise pretty durable and would be good for short outings under inclement conditions, such as a day skiing or boating, when one could recharge the batteries easily each evening.
