Samsung Digimax V3

Strengths: Size, image quality, power supply versatility, TIFF format support, AVI format support, price, lens, quiet zoom, user adjustment

Weakness: USB cable door, too small, video only 15FPS

This 'cam was good value at $160 after rebate. If it'd cost more I would've went with a Canon A70, but wanted to give this a chance... glad I did. It takes good pics, very little noise or artifacts in JPEG but also supports TIFF, which I always use if I dont' expect to run out of (SD) memory. Good color and focus.

It's sturdy for all-plastic, the battery/memory hatch is sturdier than some (hate Kodak's). Wish the itsy-bitsy USB port was a standard size, would glady have the cam be 1 cm larger and have a standard USB port, larger hatch, and it'd be easier to hold. These 'cams are too small for really steady shots, IMHO.

It has TV-out, which I've never used, and a lot of manual settings... more than most any cam you can get for $160, except maybe the A60 on sale, but it's only 2MP.

The optical zoom is good, quiet, fairly fast. I'm using 2000mAh NiMH batteries (takes 2 x AA), taken dozens of pics but don't know how long they last since I usually pop in a freshly charged set after emptying the 256MB SD card bought separately. The batteries easily outlast 120 pics, got a little over 200 from fresh NiMH.

I wish the soft case had a batt and mem compartment, but then wouldn't fit in a shirt pocket. I wish the microphone was pointed forwards, I keep speaking during videos and it's louder than the subjects. I've mostly dwelled on the negatives but it's a great cam, I'd buy again @ $220 or less. I've reached the word limit, this review ends here.

Samsung Digimax V3

Strengths: 1. Grade A image quality 2. Excellent silver chrome design 3. Tons of feature that you won't find in other cameras. 4. Small and compact size

Weakness: I just hope it uses a lithium battery than AA one, but that's fine, I can live with that.

This is my ninth digital cameras. I have virtually tried out every 3-megapixel brands out there. But so far, I can proudly say this is the best compare to Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Fuji, or even Sony. Two words to sum up everything, just perfect.

Samsung Digimax V3

Strengths: Normal battery, good zoom, higher pixel size lots of good features for the beginers...

Weakness: Consumes more power and one set of normal battery runsout for 4-5 shots and viewing pictures in camera speed up battery usage...

Will say yes for this as this is being my first digital
but still im looking for extra source for dry battery power which can fit in my waist pouch!!!!

can any body suggest some good idea?

Samsung Digimax V3

Strengths: 2 x AA support, lots of shots with good quality rechargeable NiMH AA batteries, SD card, good macro support.

Weakness: Slow refresh (at least 7 seconds), shutter lag unpredictable, viewfinder has only 70-80% coverage. Using the LCD (you can turn it off) causes batteries to not last as long.

This camera has served me well, and I've taken over 4000 shots with it. Mostly very acceptable picture quality. For a small P&S camera, it's very full featured including manual controls. I get well over 100 full sized JPGs (averaging 1.5 MB) with one set of quality rechargeable NiMH batteries (Powerex 2300 mah). Using less than top quality NiMH batteries gives inferior performance, but with top quality batteries this camera is very satisfactory for a lot of purposes. Use a decent sized SD card with this and you can take 100s of shots. I move the shots to my computer's HD using a cardreader (I got my SD card reader free after mail-in rebate) rather than messing with cables.

I indicated I've had the camera for 4 years, but it rang up as 4 days. I can't see a way to edit the review other than to add a comment...
