F550 EXR Built for travel enthusiasts
Strengths: Shoots Raw, Jpg, Raw+Jpg, 1080p, manual modes, fast start up and shoot times, great picture video quality.
Weakness: It didn't have the longest zoom of other models, but is no slouch either.
I'm new to better quality camera's but did my homework, obsessively before buying thanks to sites like these. This camera was the standout in the crowd of compacts because it has great manual control for my upcoming photography class, good zoom range, and 1080p video. The interface is easy to understand, and a joy to hold compared to others. I recommend shooting in a semi- darkened room with sun blinded like I did to get a feel for the manual iso. I had a chance to shoot with shutter mode competing with little kids running around. It captured great if not stunning shots I was missing in auto. The video mode is also stunning, with vocal sound being decent for this level. This camera will be the perfect travel companion for upcoming vacations. I'm glad I did my homework, as I'll get to an elp or dslr once I get more accomplished with this one.
