This camera changed my negative feeling on Sony products

Strengths: Entry lvl DSLR quality like photoResponsive - short start up time, reasonable AF speed & no lag between shootLight weight, small sizeGood battery life (<300 photos)Very good value for money

Weakness: Strange user interface eg. red-eye reduction not in flash mode menuQuality of kit lens, especially the prime lens, not the best among its competitor

I was looking for camera with reasonable size which I can carry around. Entry level DSLR (which is usually smally and lighter) and compact system cameras are my target. The factors I looked into are:1. Image quality under sun light2. Image quality under low light condition3. Focsing speed4. Continuous shoot speed5. Delay between shoot6. Size and weight7. PriceInitially I compared Canon 600D, Panasonic GF3, Olympus E-PM1 and Nikon J1 at first (Yes, no Sony as I was never a Sony fan. To me Sony = fancy + pricey). "Accidentally" I picked up a Sony NEX C3 in a shop and I was supprised as its photo quality and reasonable price. Amoung the 7 areas I looked at, NEX got a 1 or 2 in all areas. The image quality is on par with 600D. (Nikon is a clear knock out)Then I decided to give this NEX C3 a try. "Oustanding" is the word I'll give this camera after I've used it for a month. However the menu system is really "Sony". Luckly it has 4 custom buttons which I can set the functions I need most. I don't need to go to the "Sony" menu when I am shooting. If you are upgrading from a compact DC or want a smaller camera as a DSLR backup, I'd recommend you to try this.

Sony Alpha NEX-C3 (black, with 18-55mm lens)

THE GOOD: Compact and attractive, with a tilting LCD and excellent photo quality, the Sony Alpha NEX-C3 has some compelling aspects. THE BAD: With the 18-55mm lens the camera becomes substantially less compact, theres no EVF option, and the video capabilities are more limited than Id expect for the price. THE BOTTOM LINE: A lot of people will like the Sony Alpha NEX-C3 for its excellent photo...

Sony NEX C3 review at Camera Labs

Sony's Alpha NEX-C3 is the company's latest entry-level ILC, packing a big sensor into a tiny body. Like other NEX cameras, the C3 features nothing less than an APS-C sensor, matching the quality of most DSLRs, but in a much more portable body. It features 16 Megapixels, 720p HD video, a large and detailed tilting monitor, 5.5fps continuous shooting and the usual array of innovative modes we've...

Sony Alpha NEX-C3 Review

Sony revamped their consumer compact system camera for 2011, producing a quite competent, attractive digital camera, the NEX-C3. Its body is well constructed, small, and light, but still has a good grip. With 16.2 megapixels and a 3-inch 921K display, the Sony NEX-C3 is designed to capture an image comparable to an SLR in significantly less space, and it does so admirably. Shipping with either an...
