Nikon Coolpix P6000 Review
The Nikon P6000 has a lot of interesting features, and some good Nikon optical quality, but the small sensor packing all those pixels just doesn't handle enlargement well as the camera overprocesses images to remove noise at the expense of detail. The GPS isn't as accurate as we'd like, and the unusual Ethernet port linking only to Nikon Picturetown seems oddly limiting, especially when you... Top

DCRP Review: Nikon Coolpix P6000
Trying to come up with a conclusion for the Nikon Coolpix P6000 has proven a bit challenging. On the one hand, it's a compact, easy to use camera with a wide-angle lens, good-sized LCD, full manual controls, customizable buttons and menus, and a hot shoe. It also offers two very unique features: a slow, but useful GPS receiver, and an Ethernet port that most people will probably never use. That... Top

Very good effort from Nikon, but needs some work
Strengths: RAW, GPS, high quality images, very sharp, excellent grip, support for Nikon pro flashes
Weakness: No live histogram, RAW support for Mac is third party only, no battery charger (ac adaptor only), OVF is very basic
I like this camera a lot. Nikon is getting serious. Of course, the best features of this camera are RAW (NRW - new format) capability and GPS. Image quality coming from this camera is outstanding. You will need to tweak defaults in JPG settings if you plan to shoot in that format, but after you're done, you will be simply amazed at images you're getting. This is a direct competitor to Canon G10, but unlike the latter, it doesn't offer live histogram that I would prefer, and it has less manual dials. GPS is a big advantage though, and it works rather well. This camera is smaller than G10 and has a much nicer grip.

Mac OS X does not —repeat not— require 3rd-Party support for the RAW compatibility.
