Kodak Z7590 -best in its price range.

Strengths: 10x optical zoom. Software interface.

Weakness: None.

I compared digital cameras extensively and came to the conclusion that this one had the best value in its price range. Paying more for a higher megapixel capacity did not appeal to me as a non-professional. Also, I like the look of the Z7590 versus some of those other cameras that look like cigarette cases. But I am a sucker for good looks anyway!

I love this camera

Strengths: Good battery life, lots of settings, easy to use, great ZOOOOM!

Weakness: No external flash mount.

I took this camera on a trip to Texas/Mexico and it was great for all kinds of situations, inside, outside, sunset shots and views of near mountains. It was only necessary to charge the battery once for the entire trip (I took over 200 photos)

Excelent features

Strengths: Flexability. Plus it sits well in your hand

Weakness: Like everyone else, I wish it had image stabilization

This is my 4th digital camera (I had my first back in the early 90s) and as such, I wanted something none of my other cameras had...other than pixel resolution. I needed a reliable high capacity zoom...3X, 6X, 8X zooms weren't cutting it...And while the Sony had a 10X camera, as a techie, I will NEVER purchase a Sony product..(anybody remember the rootkit fiasco?) I never considered a Kodak until I played with a friend's Kodak appreciated the attention to detail and the copious features. I especially liked the way all the features were easily accessible. For instance, no matter what mode you are in, you are one button press to fixed focus landscape mode (read...no focus lag) and another button press away from closeups. The full information on the screen is great and the screen size is a bonus! The never ending movie mode (I have 2gb cards in this thing) is great.
The flexability of full auto is complimented by Aperture priority, shutter priority, program and full manual.
While I haven't used it yet, the external flash synch is nice to have. The low light autofocus works great and the ability to select ISO handy for low light settings. All these settings are easy to access using the jog wheel.
A recent vacation to Durango CO showed me what this camera can do...I was getting 200 + photos per battery. At times, well into 200, almost 250 photos per charge. Granted, I sparingly used the main display and used the viewfinder for most photos.
Let me tell you. At $500 I wouldn't touch this camera. At $300, I would consider it. At $250, it's worth the price. But now it can be had for under $200, so it would be a bad move to not consider this camera.

LOVE IT!

Strengths: easy to use for novice, great options for advanced

Weakness: none so far

This is my second digital camera...moving up from a 3.2 Sony Cybershot. I wanted higher res, also clear macro shots, which I could never achieve with the Sony. I've been playing with it, doing different shots, everything is clear, sharp as a tack! I also wanted big zoom numbers...and this camera had the best mix of all the options I wanted at the very affordable price I wanted.

It is very easy to use...you could probably figure out the basics in 15 minutes and be taking pics...but take the time to read the manual, and do the setup...it really helps with getting the options you want. I really liked that the manual was online, so I could read it before the camera even got here. so when it arrived, I was ready for it. I like that you can add different lenses...that really boosts its versatility. I got a polarized one, and some macros. Uh, and I learned quickly to take the polarized protector lens off for inside shots! ;)

The color is great, everything is focused sharp as a tack! I like the screen...and I used the viewfinder too...and was suprised to see all the info that is provided on the LCD is readable through the viewer too..

The zoom is amazing...I sat on my front porch and took a pic of a vehicle 1/4 mile away down my driveway. Zoomed so close I could read the license plate!

It really has alot of features to help you take good pics. I had never used a histogram before, but it helps. The camera helps in composition...and still is a great point & shoot! I've used a couple of the preset programs, and they did as they were described...caught a great still-motion of a hummingbird in flight...

As far as negatives...none so far...ask me again in a year! But I would buy this camera again tomorrow!

Great camera for the cost

Strengths: 10x zoom, easy to use menus, pop-up flash is resonably far away from the lens, great outdoor photos

Weakness: color balance (w/ flash) is a bit weak, no anti-shake or image stabalization technology, startup time a bit slow, shutter lag somewhat slow

This camera was an impulse buy from Dell.com ($265 brand new!) and for that price, it was a steal. The camera functions relatively well, but it you don't get the same control, quality, and response from a digital SLR camera (like the EOS-20D) nor do you get the great compact size of the new 5 megapixel tiny cameras (like the SD400 of the Casio Exlim series).

That said, the camera performs relatively well: the 10x zoom gives you a great amount of creative control so you can frame shots properly, the large LCD is your best friend when you're composinng and reviewing shots, and the flash pops up so that it's far away enough from the lens as not to cause strange reflections when you use it. The photo quality at 5 megapixles is pretty nice--definatley better than what you get in those tiny compact cameras that are the size of a deck of cards since you get a larger lens (the camera can gather more light).

There are some downsides to this camera: the flash and shutter lag is about 1/2 a second to a full second, which makes it hard to take candid shots. The startup time takes about 2 to 10 seconds, which sucks when you need to pull it out in a hurry.

Battery life is pretty good; one battery on full charge lets you take about 150-175 shots w/out flash but with the LCD on. When you have the flash, you can take about 100-125 photos.

Bottom line: it's a great camera, and for under $300 it's a complete steal. It's not as nice as something that costs 2x as much, but at the sub-$300 price, this camera really gives you much more than you pay for.

Real Great Camera

Strengths: Big LCD Screen. Sleek. Lithium_ion Battery. 10x Optical Zoom. Light weight.

Weakness: Pics are little dark if I use it with flash. This problem is not there if I use it outdoor or Indoor without flash.

The camera color and the design looks so cute compared to the same price models. I also like the 10x Optical Zoom option. Using Lithium-Ion battery is good (I don't like using AA batteries for digital cameras. It costs too much).
Even the replacement re-chargeable Lithium-ion batteries for this model is cheaper. My wife loves this camera mainly because all the button and menues are easily navigable.

New Kodak z7590

Strengths: Easy to use, great picture quality, great 10x optical zoom, big LCD display to view pictures.

Weakness: focus a little slow, No image stabilization, a little slowly for shutter.

I have a Cannon s400. Had decided on the DX7590 but, the z7590 was released as I was making my decision. I brought this camera to learn from some friends. The Kodak z7590 is an amazing camera. Purchased online at $285. I think it deserve. Have used the camera for about six days now, mostly in auto mode. Nice picture, high quality and ease of use. Internal memory holds about 32 shots in good mode. Camera picture review and menu are easy to navigate. Very easy to pick up and use without reading manual, but, you had better read it to realize full capacity.

2.2" LCD screen let you see the picture quality and figure more precisely; 10x zoom makes the shots easily; 2 more hours battery life even in LCD model. You can manage your pictures with easyshare software.
It is a great DC. I like it.

The Kodak Z7590 DC is good choice for me

Strengths: 10X optical zoom, easy to use, the menu supports multiple languages, good picture quality, excellent for advanced amateurs and beginner

Weakness: It is a little hard to press the shutter button completely down. No image stabilization. The flash is a little loose when it is closed.

This is the first time for me to buy a digital camera. I have used this camera about 8 days. With auto mode and 2.2" LCD, I can easily take good pictures. I really like this LCD because it is a real big, bright and vivid screen. With it you can easily capture and review the wonderful moment. The 10x zoom make taking telephotos easy. Because I am a beginner, the great ability of manual control can help me study photography.

In a word, I like this camera!

Great Digital Camera

Strengths: 10x Optical zoom. Some really userful features for a camera that you can comfortably carry around with you. Good quality pictures indoors and great outdoor pictures!

Weakness: Wish it could use standard off the shelf AA batteries in case you need a quick fix for a dead rechargable. However rechargable battery can easily capture a 100+ pictures.

This is a great little camera for a individual that is looking to go beyond the standard 3X optical zoom. You can really get in close for those candid shots or recreational activity shots that are far away.

Kodak really did a noce job designing this camera with many simple to use features. The added size of the LCD display is helpful when viewing pictures and allows extra details for composing pictures.

It realy is a compact camera for the added zoom 10x zoom lens. I really like the one touch up loading button. You can also change modes quickly when you have those special outdoor shots to capture.

EasyShare Z7590 Digital Camera

Strengths: 10X digital 2.2'LCD

Weakness: a litter small, my hand cannot hand it very comfortable

the menu is designed very well, easy to use, and the pictures are like real. before I bought it, I compared it with Z740 and DX 7590, finally choose Z7590. manual modes which Z740 doesn't have sometimes is useful. And I don't need the Dock, since I don't want bring anything that is not necessory while travelling.

great mid priced camera

Strengths: optical zoom/ ease of setting controls/ photo quality/ supplied software

Weakness: Plastic Body, Cheap construction

This camera is great. It can be used by an amateur by putting it in auto mode, or with the controls, it can satisy the creative urges of a pro. The lens should support the use of Kokin filter system (I haven't tried it yet) But in the month that I have used the camera, I haven't found it to be wanting for anything.

Not a very good camera

Strengths: ????????????????????? I guess it takes pictures (but not very good quality)

Weakness: Very cheap, plastic construction. Flash pops up every time camera is powered on. Horrible, horrable nightshots, also bad white balance. Very poor VGA movie quality. The flimsey door over the card slot

Do youreself a favor buy the Sony, or the Panasonic and save youreself from a truely neverending headache. After 5 months I couldnt take it and finnally bought the cybershot dsc h1 and absolutely love it! (and if you can't tell i tend to pick things apart)

Concerned Consumer, Tim
