OK but leaves a lot to be desired

Strengths: Compact 28mm lens Touch Screen interface

Weakness: Poor low light performance Sub-par overall picture quality

The Good:
28mm lens catches a lot more than 35mm ones.
Highly portable. Fits nicely in a pocket.
Touch screen interface well implemented.
Optical stabilization works well.
Optical zoom can be used in movie mode.

The Bad:
Picture quality is not as good as other popular compact point&shoot. The 14.7m pixel doesn't translate into better resolution and clarity on the picture (when seen as 1:1). Color noise can be seen wherever this is a shade.
Low light performance is worse. When used indoor, anything out of the range of the flash shows on the picture as dark gray block.

THE GOOD: Very good touch-screen shooting controls; many settings to experiment with; well designed. THE BAD: Middling photo quality; touch-screen frustrating to use in menu system. THE BOTTOM LINE: An excellent touch-screen interface--at least for shooting photos--and decent feature set dont make the Samsung TL34HDs photo quality better than OK.
