Strengths: Great menu system: intelligent, intuitive. Fast focusing quality kit lens.
Weaknesses: LCD a bit hard to see in strong light, but this is standard.
Summary: After owning the original 1975 KM SLR and more recently a Canon S3IS, I'm pleasantly surprised by a sense I'm holding a quality engineered product, one that is well thought out. I really enjoy photography and like to keep it simple, but what is most important to me is portability, and something that is really sensitive to the tonal qualities of light, colour or black and white. This camera has these and throws in some marvellous creative effect tools to boot. - Love the menu system: lots of options to configure if you want, intelligent and intuitive. Keep it simple if you want as well - Clean, sharp images, accurate colour - Makes me want to takes pictures: I have taken 450 already - Can use three lenses I've in the cupboard, even manual lenses: recycling is good when it saves this much! - Battery life, battery still shows full tonight with the supplied Energiser lithiums - Really like the kit lens, was expecting it to be limited after using a super zoom. Quickly adjusting and focuse fast. - Seriously impressive in-camera effects - Can turn RAW files into JPG inthe camera (perhaps this is normal, but I think its a great feature) - has a molded thumb rest, perfect for someone like me who likes to walk cradling the camera in hand ready for quick use
