Awsome CameraStrengths: Size, Easy to Use, Buttons in great locations, Great Screen Size, Options, Options, Options Weakness: Have to watch covering the lens with your finger, Why don't they make a hard plastic case for this???? I had the Xg before and I loved that Camera that is the main reson for me buying this one. I haven't had it very long but what little I've used it It works flawlessly. I do wish you could plug in a usb cable with out using the craddel but I can live with it. The most camera you are going to get for your money. I got it for $293 including tax and shipping, and I got a $50 mail in rebate bringing my total to only $243...WOW!!! This camera is so beautiful I am affraid I'll sratch the screen and the silky metal case. Great upgrade from the XG I use too use. If this camera is as durable as my Xg was I'll be completely satisfied. 86% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

DiMAGE X1Strengths: Very compact unit...like a mini TV screen on back:) Great features. Weakness: Shiny case shows fingerprints easily. I was surprised by the compact size, but it has all kinds of great features. Probably more camera than I need, but smaller than my original camera (DiMAGE Z2) All-in-all, a great camera. 71% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Fragile camera and no warranty supportStrengths: Design, picture quality, size, ease of use Weakness: Provided soft case inadequate for a pocket camera. The soft case that comes with this camera is wholly inadequate for a pocket camera. Don't let the titanium case fool you. I had the camera a couple days. It rode in my front pocket in the soft case for half a day and I don't remember touching anything. It came out of my pocket with a crease across the front of the case and a cracked screen. The manufacturer refused to fix it under warranty and wants $158 to repair it. I told them to return it as is. The insult is bad enough without me having to pay for the privilege. 61% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Oct 26, 2005 I HAVE MANY DIGITAL CAMERAS AND I CARRY SOME IN MY POCKETS, I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE JUST CREASE AND CRACK THE SCREEN, IT MUST OF PRESSED ON A TABLE TOP OR SOMETHING.

Oct 26, 2005 I can't speak to your many digital cameras and yes, this camera certainly did not spontaneously self-destruct. My experience, however, is that this camera in its provided soft case is not up to the stresses of riding around in a man's loose-fit front jeans pocket for a half day. It needs a hard case like an Otter case for example. Of course if you have to put the camera in a hard case to protect it you've pretty much ruled out using it as a pocket camera. I maintain that Konica should have repaired it on warranty rather than force a new customer to bear the expense of discovering the inherent weakness of their camera + soft case system.

Nov 11, 2005 I have had 4 minolta dimage cameras, starting with the 2.0 megapixel X20. I then bought the 3.2 mgp, 5.0 X50 and now I am on the 5.0 X60. I am a fire captain. I carry the camera in my shirt pocket. I have captured many amazing photos because I always have it with me. I stand by konica minolta dimage series. First because of compact size. Second because of fast turn-on time and how quickly you can zoom the folded lenses versus projecting lenses. Third because the flash range starting with the X50 is now a good 10 - 15ft vs weak 6 ft for cybershot. Finally, I would normally carry camera in shirt or jacket pocket, but even on occassion in loose short front pocket - last resort though. I have never had any problem. I have dropped these cameras and they are very sturdy. Sorry you had problem, but I don't buy your assessment.

Nov 11, 2005 None of those who have disputed my assessment have done so with facts from an experience with THIS camera and its mfg provided case. I can see that I've put up an unpopular opinion but at least it is grounded in relevant facts.

Nov 11, 2005 THE CASES THAT COME WITH THIS CAMERA ARE MADE TO KEEP THE SMALL VIEWING SCREEN FROM SCRATCHES AND DUST FROM ENTERING THE CAMERA. I DO NOT DOUBT YOU HAD A PROBLEM WITH A CRACK IN THE SCREEN BUT IT SEEMS STRANGE IT ALSO HAD A CREASE IN THE CASE. AS YOU SAID IN YOUR COMMENT YOU DO NOT REMEMBER LEANING ON THE CAMERA, DID YOU SENT IT BACK TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT MINOLTA? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THEY THINK CAUSED THE PROBLEM...

Nov 25, 2005 I am a professional photographer that also has owned many very compact 35mm point and shoot cameras over the years. Even if the camera could fit in a pocket, I never did that. I always had a nice case that I slipped on my belt. It was much safer and quicker to access. I agree with the fire captain above. I've have a tiny casio exilim 4MP for two years and carry it in such a case along with an extra batter and a memory card. When every I've stuck it in my jeans pocket, it is hard to get to ... tight fit. When I stick it in a shirt pocket it can slide out, like when you bend over .... the ..... splash! So that is why I like the tiny Tamron neoprine cases I have. I have dropped my Casio on concrete from wasit height and only have a small dent on a corner. Camera works fine. What a surprise. I have heard the LQD screens on compact Canons break, so am looking for another brand, although I love the Canon XT I have.

Jan 30, 2006 i have heard the same stuff over and over thats its hard to take a picture at night with a digital camera, the quality is not that great and such...... i think that we want our little cmaeras to perform equal to or better than film..... and that is just not going to be the case..... one would need a 32MP camera to even remotely come close to film,( it might even be 64 MP, i Cant remember) but for what they are, digital camera in general are nice and convinent........ as for the whole pocket issue with the cracked LCD screen.... um no, i have never put any camera in ANY pocket ever! it is a small digital device, and even though it can be ruggrd, its still very fragile. a good case is a must..... not necessarly a herd case, but something that will defently protect it....... i usually use lowepro. they are a great brand and will defently protect anything you put in it..... film or digital!

Jan 30, 2006 For whatever it is worth, in January of 2006 Minolta announced it is getting out of the camera business. It is just too competitive.

Great size, great pictures, great price, great...Strengths: Compact, 8 megapixel, comes in colors, HUGE LCD monitor, optical zoom is non-protruding, anti-shake feature Weakness: If you have big fingers, battery and SD card are a little hard to grasp. Time between flashes is a little long. This is an extremely excellent camera. Takes great pictures, is compact and zoom does not stick out when zooming. I got the black camera which is unique. LCD is extremely large which makes it easy for a group to see. Takes great close in pictures. Wish I had this camera long ago...if it was available. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Great CameraStrengths: Large screen, batter life, can hook up video with sound to TV, picture quality, video and sound quality Weakness: sometimes the zoom This camera is by far the best I have seen for it's size. If you are looking for good pictures from compact camera this is the one to get. The screen on the back makes it so clear to see and all the options for this camera for instance the anti hand shake is wonderful. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Dimage X1 is the money giftStrengths: Everything, huge screen, so easy even my girlfriend can use it, sleek, small, sick! Weakness: None that I've found so far I bought this camera for my girlfriend, who has zero experience/confidence working with a camera. She took to it immediately, and was able to figure it all out - videos, stills, navigating all the settings. She loved it. The camer is sleek, so compact and light and versatile. I think its a great gift and a great camera! 33% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Very stylish but....Strengths: Picture resolution is great for pictures taken outside with daylight. Menu and zoom are easy to learn and use. Box comes with 32 mb and 256 mb storage card and leather clip on carrying case. Weakness: However, inside pictures or outside pix in dark don't come out as i was hoping for. The pictures lack sharpness and true colors. I decided to return the camera because I need it mainly inside stores where the quality of the pictures was far from perfect. I liked the handling and the anti-shake but that only goes so far for me. I am considering buying the Canon A620 which took great pictures when I tried it out inside a store. 33% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Jan 16, 2006 I would like to hear feed back from other users of this camera on its indoor pic taking or dark surroundings. Have a couple friends who are very paticular about some things and sometimes can be over critical. I don't mean to pick on reviewer, but would like some additional input before further consideration of a purchase.

Feb 8, 2006 I have an X1 that I've only used since Christmas 2005, and have made about 100 pictures. Most of my shots were made inside. To be truly honest I'm really disappointed with the pictures' sharpness. The color seems about right to my eyes. But in general I've been disappointed, and it is that disappointment that lead me to this web site to see what others have experienced.

Good Overall easy to use cameraStrengths: Easy to use. Easy to see. Weakness: All cameras should come with a min. of 128mb card. Good Camera. Have had 1 sony T-1. This is a better camera. It charges in the cradle unlike my sony T-1. Truely an easy camera to use. Menus are easy and taking pictures is a piece of cake. 0% of readers found this review helpful. The king of the Dimage X series!Strengths: 8 MP, Anti-shake, Titanium colored metal casing. Weakness: No optical viewfinder, only 3X optical zoom, Have to use the menu function to access useful features. This is my third (and last) Dimage X series digi-can I have owned, and by far the best. It has 8 MP that generates a 4MB file per shot! Enough to get large color prints with plenty of detail, but You'll need to set a lower resoluction if you want to email them. It has a sopt focus and metering modes, but there is no quick way to access them, only via the menu setting. Anti-shake will help reduce blur in some pictures, but is not 100% accurate. This camera doesn't have an optical viewfinder, but not too many compact digi-cams have them anyway. Also when in movie mode avoid using the optical zoom. The built in microphone will pick up zooming sound. The camera comes with a 32MB enough to shoot only about 9 pictures at 3264x2448 resolution. Lastly I wish it had a more powerful optical zoom, since I'm not a big fan of digital zoom. Overall a good digi-cam for the price. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Great Digital CameraStrengths: Compactability; Ease of Use, & Large Screen Size Weakness: View Screen does not depict lighting very well in close to dark situations The Dimage X1 Digital Camera to me is overall a great camera which is compact, very easy to use, and has a large 2.5" view screen. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Good Camera for the Price!Strengths: 8MP, Large LCD Screen, Compact Design Weakness: Easily smudges, Lense Position, Shutter speed sometimes slow in dim lighting I bought this camera for my wife and she likes it for the most part. It is probably the best looking camera I have seen. The picture quality is good but the shutter speed in even a little dim backgroud is a little slower than I'd like. Overall I'm happy with the camera. I paid $268.65 including tax and shipping, then with the $50 rebate it came out to $218.65, great price for this camera. Be careful to watch were you put your fingers, mine seem to end up covering the lense every once in a while. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Konica Minolta Dimage X1
The Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 is an unusual digital camera, packing an 8 megapixel sensor, a 3x zoom lens, a 2.5 inch screen, and anti-shake technology into a compact, stylish case. Its image quality is good, with a much better than average lens for a subcompact camera, very accurate color, and loads of resolution. Packing all those pixels into a tiny sensor does make for higher image noise, and... Top

Dimage X1 - a nice compact camera
Strengths: Size, picture quality, large screen
Weakness: Proprietary battery, optical zoom, battery life
This is a great camera that is compact enough to take anywhere. The Dimage X1 also takes excellent pictures, and the large LCD screen makes picture taking easy. The proprietary battery is the biggest downside, however batteries can easily be found on the web. I'd recommend keeping a spare battery on hand so that your camera can always be fully-charged and ready-to-go. A stronger optical zoom would be nice, but would be difficult to truly accomplish in a camera this compact.
