Casio Exilim EX-Z120 7.2 Megapixel Compact Camera

I would recommend this camera to anyone,on auto or snapshot you can just point and shoot but if you have a bit of time to adjust the camera to how you want it you can take great pictures.I found the viewfinder very helpfull outside in bright sunlight. 2500 nic/cad batterys are a must

EXLIM EX-Z120

Strengths: uses 2 AA batteries

Weakness: smaller screen than the next higher model (2.0 v 2.5)

I would have opted for the slimer casio cameras as they are simpler and smaller. This model, however, has a smaller optic window, which is nice when it is sunny outside. Not bad for the price. I could not find something better under $250.

Casio EX-Z120

Strengths: High 7.2 megapixels with anti shake and easy to use! Uses AA batteries

Weakness: Like must small camera's flash lacking for indoor pic's and long distance

Just purchased, found very easy to use with compact size and good features. The size makes this easy to carry and have ready for any occasion. The 7.2 megapixels and AA batteries coupled with the price makes this hard to beat!

casio Z120

Strengths: very good outdoor image quality, fair/good indoor image quality, very responsive, many areas for in camera photo "adjustments",compact, uses AA batteries, attractive metal shell, clear LCD.

Weakness: indoor shots are not the best due to a weak flash. manual ISO settinggs or exposure adjustments do not help but flash intensity adjustment does somewhat. no good grip area at the rear.

purchased a F10, and got very soft photos, traded for the Z120 and am getting much better shots. was suprised since the F10 was rated so high. I am satisfied with the camera except for the indoor shoots (but can adjust in PC). good value for the money. if you want a camera for all occasions I guess you need to carry around something a bit larger.

This camera is definitely the most bang for the buck!

Strengths: Very responsive, Great image quality, Very compact, Losts of features, All metal body.

Weakness: For best results in low light situations you have to adjust some of the auto settings.

I'm an advanced photographer and I own a large hi-end digital camera. However, I needed a high quality ultra compact camera for my wife to be able to carry in her purse. After doing quite a bit of on-line research, we decided to give the EX-Z120 a try.
One of my co-workers purchased a Canon SD 400 one day after I purchased my Z120. Strait out of the box the Z120 outperformed the Canon SD 400. However, after making some adjustments to the default settings of the Z120, it was simply killing the Canon in image quality (the Canon did not offer the option of making any adjustments to the auto settings).
We took this camera on vacation to Argentina. After over 600 photos in every situation imaginable, I'd have to say that this camera was an excellent choice.
I can whole heartedly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a superb ultra compact camera.
The best part is that this camera sells for a bargain price.

despite of so many negative views from professionals...

Strengths: 2 AA batteiries , very quick responce , very fast start-up time, durable .the battery life.

Weakness: the image quality is not as good as my canon A620.

It is so responsive and so you will probably never miss the chance to take an unexpected surprise shot .

Also , it is easy to carry, and so as a secondly travel camera , it is a nice choice although the image-quality is not as bright and sharp as the Canon produces .

My Canon was a bit too heavy for always carrying to the Lax with me, to fly and it is made of plastic so not as durable as this one. So I needed to have a compact and durable secondly camera for my business trips.

For that purpose this is a great camera ; you can use it instantly without reading annoying manuals .

But when you have plan to shoot a something really tiny like a coin or a insect , you need a better performing camera , this one can never compete with Canon A 620 in Macro shooting .

So when I go to a park , I bring my canon with me .

Pretty Nice Camera

Strengths: Multiple settings available. Shutter speed as slow as 60 seconds in the shutter priority mode. Unlimited video shooting with sound (restricted by the memory size only).

Weakness: In the auto mode, the slowest shutter speed available is 1/8 second. 30-second limit on voice only recording.

This camera should serve well to people who know a little on photography, but may not be suitable for those who prefer to simply point and shoot.

Several users have problems on using the camera indoor and get pictures with noises. One reason is that the camera in the auto mode changes its ISO setting automatically. In low light situations, ISO value will be set high and that's the key reason for noises. Due to the 1/8 second limitation on the shutter speed in the auto mode, this situation is difficult to avoid.

On the other hand, this camera provides both the aperture priority mode and the shutter priority mode. People who like to take time for pictures would find those features useful. The up to 60 seconds shutter speed under the shutter priority mode also allows people to take nice night shots (with a tripod, of course). This is an unusual feature for digital cameras in the $200 to $350 range.

The bottom line: If you largely take pictures outdoor and enjoy taking pictures that you have in mind, this camera should be very good for you. If you just want to have a camera that works everywhere, then you probably want to consider other cameras with slower shutter speed in the auto mode. Personally I still suggest this camera to people want to get into photography.

A great camera for the price

Strengths: Easy to shoot, short delay time, anti-shake works well, AA batteries available everywhere, optical viewfinder

Weakness: AA batteries don't last long, not great for macro shots, not great for indoor, not easy to zoom to exact size, too easy to unintentionally spin the dial which selects photo vs camcorder

For the price, the Casio Exilim EX-Z120 is absolutely the best camera available. Full of features, yet also easy to use.

This is the perfect camera to carry around. It's not tiny; small enough to fit in a pocket but large enough to have a decent screen and viewfinder (a necessity to save battery power).

Great for travel because AA batteries are available everywhere (though I recommend getting rechargeable batteries because the AAs don't last long -- maybe a couple hundred pictures?).

Delay time is definitely present, but minimal compared to other cameras.

The zoom motor isn't the best one around. It can be difficult to zoom the frame to exactly the right size for your picture.

You do have to double-check the mode you want, because on several occasions I have unintentionally moved the dial which selects photo vs camcorder vs voice only, etc.

All in all, I highly recommend this camera.

Takes Pictures as Good as a Digital SLR

Strengths: Small Compact Size, AA Battery, Feature Ladden, Fast Startup, Excellent Outdoor Picture Quality

Weakness: View Finder Size Impractical, Movie Quality Somewhat Lacking, LCD Hard to See in Sunlight

Got this as a 2nd camera for travel that can easily fit in the wife's purse. The compact size, battery type and low price are my main criteria in selecting this camera.

Disappointed

Strengths: size (very compact), easy functionality

Weakness: poor image quality (very blurry even when individuals were posing), auto focus takes too long

I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the images this camera created. My 4MP camera created sharper images. I used the camera in multiple settings, and maybe 1 in 4 pictures came out clear, yet the environment stayed the same. Returned the camera after two weeks.

Best & Worst

Strengths: Excellent features and size. Easy to use. Good video & sound. Good anti-shake (I shake a lot).

Weakness: Stopped working after being babied and hardly used.

Love the camera enough to consider another and maybe this is the odd ball, but it was working fine, it took a picture and a second later it could not take another or do anything else. No bumping, or shaking, or water, etc.... since it died a month after the warrentee expired, it hurts. I wish I had dropped it by accident 100 feet to its death!

Must admit I have not seen a flood of compliants on the net, but there are a lot of factory reconditioned units for sale. I thought they were from people who complianed "the flesh tone was a 1/4 shade off" and returned it rather than hardware failures.

Very Satisfied

Strengths: Compared to my 4 y/o digital, battery life is much better. Nice pocket size camera. View finder comes in handy. Good price with high MPx.

Weakness: Software will -NOT- sync up to my PC with the cable. Casio customer service is not customer centered. Mode knob on back is easily bumped and changed. Some poor focusing in low light and inside shots.

I bought this camera for travel purposes. It has a nice size, only uses 2 AA batteries, and has 7 Mpx. If you take your time with inside shots (use the flash makes it better but not perfect) you can make pretty good shots. Not long after buying the camera, I found out that the camera will NOT sync up with my PC due to some software conflicts. This information is hidden DEEP within the Casio website. I ended up purchasing a memory card with a simple USB card reader. Problem solved but Casio customer service with not at all helpful. Watch the Mode knob on the back when you pull it out of your pocket to ensure you are taking a photo and not doing something else. Overall, very satisfied. Great value, very good photos. I would definitely do this one again.

I too encountered a problem with getting this camera to work with my PC which I initially put down to software conflicts.

After numerous & exhaustive contact with Casio Customer Support staff all to no avail, I decided to give them a last shot at helping me resolve the problem, else the camera was going to be returned. Finally I got the right guy who really knew what he was doing and new the camera well too. Sounds almost silly though. The problem wasn't with the software but with the connecting cable.

The manual describes pushing the cable connector into the camera housing socket until a "distinct click" is heard, indicating that a sound connection between the contacts has been made.

I did this originally, and even got the click they talk about but I do remember that it required an unusual considerable amount of force to get the cable plug to connect yet still I couldn't get the camera to work with my PC.

The support guy I got laterally made reference to this aspect and told me to ensure the plug was all the way home in the camera socket. I did this using what I regard as almost excessive force for such a small and delicate device, but that in fact was the source of the problem. He did confirm that this particular connection on this camera is very tight or stiff indeed.

I mention this in the hope that if anyone else out there is on the verge of giving up who encounters a similar problem, ensure that full contact is made between camera and cable plug before considering returning what is otherwise a very useful camera.

The problem was not obvious in the beginning because the fitting was so tight that the cable plug felt securely held in the socket with no feeling of slack or loose-ness and seemed very securely connected, but clearly the plug was not all the way home.

I can't under-estimate the force I had to use to drive the plug fully home, almost to the point where I felt like if I pushed any harder, I was in danger of doing some damage to the camera or indeed, the socket itself. However, this soon loosens up and becomes much easier with some regular use, but obviously it shouldn't be so tight in the first place, but bearing in mind, the reference to this was made by a Casio Customer support person, they must be aware of it.
