Don't even think about it!

Strengths: None

Weakness: Everything

What good are all the options and "5MP" if the pictures are crap. I agree with every preceding negative comment. Ambient light pictures are blurry and flash pictures are over-exposed.

This camera is junk!!

Worse than that, I lost the receipt!!

Take the money you were going to spend on this thing and spend it on a name brand for the same price with less MP. I have an old 1.3MP Olympus Camedia that takes extremely better pictures than this one.

Has all the necessary features, but without the...

Strengths: Price

Weakness: Blurry photos

Typically, I don't write reviews unless I think my experience will help others folks out there. My take on this is that what good is a camera if you can't see the photos, no matter how cheap it is? Give it to your five year old as an expensive toy. And yes it's made in China as all toys are nowadays.

My photos came out more than 50% blurry with ridiculous amount of light on some photos when using it with flash. It drains the AA battery like anything. You should save the money for a down payment on a better brand that doesn't use AA batteries.

If you like blurry, dark and featureless photos this...

Strengths: Can be used as a webcam

Weakness: Everything else

I received this camera from an auto manufacturer to take photographs of paint defects that would be covered under the vehicle's warranty IF I could get a decent photo of them. This auto manufacturer must be the most shrewd business that I've ever encountered. If you can't capture it in a photograph here at the dealership level how exactly are we enabled to service and support our customers.
I am not a photographer but I'm not a complete idiot. That being said, I simply cannot take a decent photo with this camera. Our dealership stepped up and purchased a real camera for warranty purposes and it only cost twice as much as the DXG. I wouldn't trade a tractor trailer load of DXGs for the other camera we bought.
Run away from this camera at any cost.

Good features for the money, but not great pics

Strengths: The price is great for a 5 megapixel camera.

Weakness: Inside pictures are usually very dark or the person is white from the flash. Battery power goes fast.

I am NOT getting good pictures with this camera. It takes a long time from when you push the button to when the camera takes the picture. My inside pictures are very dark or the subject is washed out from the flash. If the battery is low, the flash will not turn on. My camera seems to have some bugs in that it will often not turn on or will turn off while I'm using it(not the timed off function). It also locked up once when in video mode. I emailed customer service the day I bought it, but no response. I guess you get what you pay for!

Great for the Price

Strengths: Low price, lots of features, decent quality

Weakness: Blurry at 5MP & 10 MP, colors not rich, slow processor, reverts to "no flash" setting every time it turns off

I'm glad I read the review saying to read the directions carefully and follow them. This is not an intuitive camera. There were about 4 different settings that I had to adjust before my pictures started turning out right. Once I got the hang of it, though, I was pleased with the results. Shooting in the 3MP and fine modes produces reasonably sharp pictures. The flash pictures in the dark and color saturation are not the best, but not horrible, either. After turning off the volume, I got around 75 pictures on one set of batteries. For the $80 I paid for this, I really can't complain.

Strengths: Good Price, for camera and features. Comparable to the other cameras offered on Black Friday

Weakness: Processor could be faster to expose the pictures quicker

Pictures taken without the flash in the proper lighting, ie, outside looks great. If you follow the recommendations not to zoom in too far on subject that is too far away. As far as taking flash pictures, choosing the proper light exposure is key to getting the right pictures with out too much bright light. Also not having your subject to close. Helps to have a little experience with taking pictures in different types/locations of lighting. An easy camera to operate and easy to use and could be a good camera if you actually take the time to read the instructions and set the camera up properly for taking good pictures. I took some trial pictures using the variations of exposure and actually came out with some decent flash pictures. Lots of camera for the price!!!

Good picture quality

Strengths: 5.1 MP res, easy to use, 32MB int memory, uses 2 AA battery

Weakness: Required exposure adjustment. No optical zoom.

Got the camera for $80 in 2005. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of pictures. It was very easy to use. Took very good pictures, even from inside the car at 70mph. Has 32MB internal memory. Avg pic size was 350k with '1024x980' res and 'Fine' pic quality. Can get about 100 good quality pics with the internal memory itself.

It did require trying out the settings for exposure adjustment. Initially had parts of the picture too bright or too dark. Battery life was good. Going strong after 80pics, 5 20sec videos, downloads to PC and many reviews of the pics on the camera LCD. I am happy with the quality of the pictures.

DXG - 568 Digital Camera

Strengths: This is a great low end digital camera that once learned and become familiar with is fun and easy to use. It is great for outdoors and good to fair for indoors pictures.

Weakness: The indoors pictures may not come out as well in low to dark light conditions and may need a few shots to get the exposure value and flash right.

Over all I am extremely happy with the DXG-568 Digital camera. My photos taken outside have been crisp and clean. My indoors photos after sometimes needing minor adjustments have been good. The camera can be hard on regular batteries but if you use high end lithium for digital cameras or rechargeables you get great battery life. Also by turning off the volume on the camera when taking stills it will really extend your battery usage. This is a very user friendly camera especially if you will take time to read the instructions and "play" with it a little to see what conditions yield what type of pictures. It comes with an audio and video recorder capability. Though my primary use of the DXG-568 is for still outside shots I have played with the audio and video recorders and they work fine. It is lightweight and fits easily into a shirt/pants pocket or purse. You must give the flash enough time to recycle before using it to take another shot but it tends to pop back up "ready" fairly quickly. I highly recommend this camera espcially to first time digital camera buyers who want or need an excellent inexpensive digital camera for fun shots. This camera has given me all the performance that I expected to receive in a digital camera but would've been 1/3 to 3 times the cost of similar digital cameras some with lower specs. I am currently using this camera to take exterior and interior shots of buildings for a client whom I download and send to in another state as well as family photos for my family tree program. I am super happy with the results. I found my DXG-568 for $99 with a rebate but I've since seen it for $79-$85. It's a great value and well worth the cost and the little bit of time needed to learn how to get it's best results.

For the price I paid for such digital camera, I...

Strengths: 5.1 megapixel, 4x digital zoom, 1.5" TFT LCD screen, voice recorder, USB 2.0 interface

Weakness: the camera drains the alkaline batteries pretty quick, slow shutter speed.

I paid only $80 for this camera at a local retail store. For indoors, pictures come out a bit fuzzy; but for outdoors, pictures are really good. I went with a set of rechargable NiMH batteries and they last about 5 times longer than the alkaline ones. So, I would recommend those who have purchased this camera, you should buy a charger and couple rechargable NiMH batteries.

Of course, if you're a photographer, this camera wouldn't be for you. But if you're not a professional in photography and you don't want to spend a fortune on an high-end digital camera, this DXG-568 should give all needed options/features that can only find on $200 or more.

If you're willing to spend $200, why not get a used digital camera like a Canon? It would take way better pictures and be a better made camera. There's plenty of other choices then buying a camera that doesn't work well. I think the positive posts are from people who don't have much knowledge of digital cameras. And for those who don't read reviews before buying cameras, you don't know what you're getting yourself into.

Snapshoot Camera

Strengths: SD/MMC Slot

Weakness: bad quality pictures

DXG-568 Digital Camera is 5.13MP with 3680x2760. However, its resolution looks a phone camera or 2.1MP at least. I bought this digital camera to my cousin, 14 years old. He is very happy. It is his first digital camera. This camera is OK.. only to teenagers.

I bought this camera in January of 2006 for $125.00 while on vacation and soon after returned to my country. I am yet to get my moneies worth. I long to get NON-BLURRY pictures. The pics appear to look fine when you take them out but when you download it on the computer you see them very very blurry. Zooming out makes the pictures blurry as well. I am hoping I can return it as it was just a waste of my money. Honestly, I think the makers should recall this camera as it is just a piece of junk. The flash works some of the times. I have seen digital cameras smaller than that take very clean pics. I am really at my end with this camera.
