Still one of the best.

Strengths: Good value for it's performance.

Weakness: Slippery case, easy to drop. 230 pics per charge.

Not the smallest nor lightest of cases and not the easiest
to adjust manual controls.
But quality still out-performs most cameras that cost more.
Good printatble A4 pics up to ISO 800. No fringing, no color
bleeding. The pink band only occurs for v1.00 firmware. Models sold now should have v1.02 installed. If not you can
download and upgrade yourself. You can test for the pink-band bug by taking a shot in double-with-without-flash at ISO 400, while covering the lens. A camera with the bug shows a slight pinkish shade along the left hand edge. A camera with the bug fix is completely black.

F100fd super small marvel

Strengths: High IQ, High ISO capability, extremely sharp results, quick start-up,fast focusing, face recognition.

Weakness: Pink banding in some rare instances.

This pocket camera is one powerhouse. ISO settings up to 12800, 5X optical zoom, 12 Meg pixels and image stabilization make this pocket camera an excellent back up camera to your high power DSLR. For power shooters it is also a substitute to your DSLR when you don't want to lug around your DSLR.
The results are excellent under most conditions, but in certain situations there is a pink noise issue, this issue is supposed to be fixed by a firmware update scheduled for May 8, 08, but this has not been made official yet.If the pink banding noise issue is fixed this camera will be in almost all respects the best most powerful pocket camera available.

Great colors come out for the compact digital camera.

Strengths: - Dynamic Range 400% helps the daytime outdoor shooting. - F-Chrome mode brings out a great color.

Weakness: - Noises w/ high ISO.

I just moved in to West Coast from Japan and was looking for a compact digital camera for daily snap so that I can let my family know how I'm doing here. (I'm a film enthusiast, but I cannot always bring my Contax or Huge Rollei SLR out....)
So the important point was the Dynamic Range for keeping the highlight/shadow details even when shooting in such bright sunny environment; color that can somewhat satisfy myself compared to film cameras; and small enough to bring with. I didn't prefer DP1 nor GR II as they are single focus (I love single focus lenses for film SLR, but not this time, I need an easy shot)
It is a compact digital camera indeed, I should not expect the similar quality to Film or Digital SLR. But when compared to other compact digital camera in the similar size, I think the pictures come out pretty well, especially in terms of colors. Sometimes the picture comes out with very film-like touch.
Honestly saying, I will bring my film SLR when I go on trip or to any important parties, but I'm pretty satisfied with f100fd for daily use.

The reported ink banding issue is solved with the latest firmware update.

excellent for a little guy

Strengths: image quality still useable at iso800 good low-light cam fast af

Weakness: body structure, kind of funny to get a grip on

fuji delivered as promised. the f100fd is everything you will want in a compact p&s. the images are crisp, low-light is possible, and even at iso800 the image still has some details.

see images of fuji f100fd at eyefetch (catedral01)

Pink banding IS an issue

Strengths: Good resolution, solidly made, good zoom, many options, nice LCD screen

Weakness: Pink banding on LCD sometimes, shoots dark photos routinely

This camera is a mix of good and bad. It has the potential to shoot great photos, but on auto mode doesn't do so as often as many cameras. Mine also has the pink band problem on the LCD which makes checking focus and exposure difficult. The band does not show on the review screen or computer copies, but it's still distracting. (I applied the firmware update as instructed--this didn't fix a thing.) The camera is solidly made, has many controls in the menus, the ability to limit ISO, shoots good color, and captures contrast. However, it routinely shoots dark photos. They can be lightened later and still retain detail, but it is a common issue requiring special settings or clean up after the fact. It is difficult for me to recommend this camera because the flaws that exist are so blatant that they distract one from its benefits.

Not as good as I had hoped

Strengths: Zoom, resolution, picture quality

Weakness: slow startup, not quick to use

The whole point of a pocket camera is that its quick and easy to use when you encounter a photo op. This camera is not quick. I had an old SD450 from Canon which starts up much more quickly. Also, I switch from movie mode to camera mode alot and with the Fuji this is a pain.

The photo quality is excellent, however the usability and features are not there. I think that cetain things need to be on slider switches and these include movie mode and less importantly the on/off button.

There are almost no controls available when in movie mode.
The camera does not include rotation in the EXIF data.

Convienience is king when it comes to small cameras and Fuji needs to work on this. If I had bought this at a local retailer instead of online, I think that I would exchange it for another one.

best "almost current" camera on the market!

Strengths: High ISO performance, Great lens (if a TAD slow at f3.3) w/ it's 35mm equiv. 28mm to 140mm, LARGE sensor, metal build, LCD that works just fine in sunlight, good features, great color, no fringing..

Weakness: Kinda slippery, smaller than I expected, noisy (almost sounds like it's trying really hard and might break down), flimsy feeling menu button (it moves loosely), silver color.

GREAT camera if you cannot afford it's big brother the F200EXR or the superior Panasonic LX3 or Sigma DP1 (some might say that the Panasonic ZS3 (TZ7 in europe?) is better and perhaps they are right? dunno.) Super clear shots in accurate color and a great dynamic range. Google "arn f100fd" and you will find a review on the Y in depth. It seems negative at first but read between the lines and actually look at the pics Arn was able to produce and you will see that it is a quality information collector. Also try and find pics by Hugo Poon...he is "sponsored" by Fujifilm and uses their compacts exclusively. He has a whole gallery of f100fd images that ROCKS! As for me? I like it but wish I could afford the f200exr or LX3...but after the rebate this thing is the BEST deal out there. The BEST deal. really. The cam. I bought here on 4-24-09 came w/ the latest firmware installed (ver. 1.02). I have TRIED to get a pink band in some photos (let the camera film for 15 min and heat up, then stuck it in a closet and snapped a shot at 1600 ISO) and even then it's barely noticable. If you are a pro and want the parfect shot, no compromise, in a challanging shooting environment then you will have your tank camera. if you are a pro...or amateur...and want an excellent photo w/o the tank then you will be psyched! If you are worried at all about this cam, then spen 2-400 more $$$ and get something a bit better.

My first digital camera, and I love it!!

Strengths: easy to use, packed with tons of features that makes it easy for novice users, stunning quality pictures and movies, comes with rechargable battery

Weakness: none. I'm very happy with everything

I did a lot of research on digital cameras before making this purchase since I am a first time buyer, so the comments from several sites steered me towards Fugifilm products as it has many advanced features that make this camera very user friendly.

I liked the intelligent facial detection feature and the red eye automatic removal function that seemed to be an all around general purpose camera that would be great to take with me on my weekly trips into Mexico.

I've used the camera for about a week now, and after getting acquained with the many features and practicing different modes, I absolutely love this camera since I didn't realize just how much this camera can really do.

It automatically stabilizes the frame to correct my hands slightly shaking, it acquires the target that I'm aiming at and automatically fine tunes the shot, and the zoom function is very easy to use, and makes all the difference in the quality of the shot.

I would have purchased the camera at full price since it has more features than I ever wanted, however at the time I ordered the camera, it also had a $100 dollar rebate offer that made it a "no brainer" to buy.

I am very happy with the service that Beach Camera gave to me, as they called the day they shipped my package out, and I got it about 5 days later since I am on the West Coast.

I would recommend Beach Camera to do business with since they provided a great product, had a very compteitive price, have a very detailed website that answered my many questions to select the camera that would best serve my needs.

I am a very happy customer indeedie!!

Left with a nonfunctional camera after less than 2...

Strengths: it malfunctioned before I could find any

Weakness: 12 days after I bought it, when I turned it on It gave three fatal lens errors and even refused to retract the lenses. It has been like this ever since. see my photo evidence

flickr.com/photos/3104...
I wanted to try Fuji because of its legendary ability to deal with low light but when I treated it like my other point and shoots it developed a fatal lens error which made it unusable. Talking to Fuji they wanted to give me a refurb and so talking to BuyDig they told me they wouldn't deal with me as I had removed the upc in preparation for sending for my rebate. The rebate turned out to be a huge mill around my neck

The Fujifilm FinePix F100fd is the latest addition to the popular F-series range of compact digital cameras, replacing the previous F50fd. DCRP Review: Fuji FinePix F100fd

The Fuji FinePix F100fd certainly has its work cut out for it. Like the F50fd before it, it will be inevitably compared to what most people feel is the best low light compact cameras of all time, the FinePix F30 and F31fd. Unfortunately, Fuji gave in to the Megapixel race on the FinePix F100fd, which pretty much did away with the high sensitivity advantage that made earlier models such a success....

Fujifilm FinePix F100fd Review

Finding a pocket digital camera with high resolution isn't hard these days, but finding one that will output a 13x19-inch print from an ISO 400 shot, like the Fujifilm FinePix F100fd can, is something. With a 12-megapixel sensor, a quality 28-140mm zoom lens, and several wide Dynamic Range options, the Fujifilm F100fd has quite a lot to recommend it. The FinePix F100fd has one of the most...
