Great SLR

Strengths: Shake reduction, 2.7 lcd and dust removal ,price

Weakness: None for me

This is my second Pentax .The k200d is nice. The pictures are clear and sharp.the dust removal works good for me.the 2.7 LCD is nice it lets me see more detail on the pictures and vivid colors. The body of the k200d fills very solid not like other SLR that fill like Plastic. The lends that I had for my DL work perfect with the k200d.It also looks like I can take more pics per battery charge.I recommend this camera for anyone looking for a great camera at a good price

Smartest choice for a novice photographer

Strengths: Water/Dust resistant. In-body shake reduction. Ergonomic and most usable user interface.

Weakness: No second dial.

This camera is priced as an entry-level model, but it has the feature and capability of mid-range DSLRs. In fact, I would say it is K10D without the second dial beneath the shutter release button. Weather seal is very useful in rain or dusty/salty environment, and in-body shake reduction makes more sense than in-lens solution. K200D is simply the smartest choice for a novice photographer and it is also appealing to more serious shooters.

Simply the best built, entry level DSLR Camera in...

Strengths: Top screen to give information, 10mp, Excellent JPEGs out of camera, dust alert, dust removal, water sealed. Heavier stronger body. Good kit lens

Weakness: Heavy ( I like this )

Great camera. Easy to use. Many things you only expect on high end prducys of other manufacturers.
You can use any Pentax lens ever made. Use all your old film lenses. AA Batteries ... use Eneloop Rechargeables which have similar performance to Lithiums. What not to like? Well ideally I would prefer a Pentaprism .... but its a cracker. I would advise buying at least one DA prime lens ... once bitten ... youre lost to Lens Buyer Addiction!!!!

Excellent SLR, Perfect Upgrade

Strengths: Weather sealing, 10megapixels, Dust Detection system, Use of AA batteries

Weakness: It's not the K20D

I upgraded from a K100D Super to a K200D, mostly because I found a good deal on it. (Current rebate offer of $100, with prices at about $600). Seems like a steal to me. The K200D picks up where my old camera left off, fixing every little issue with the K100D Super that I had (and they were mostly little).

The new UI is much cleaner, the screen appears more crisp. The extra megapixels are welcome, but most of all I like the weather sealing and dust alert/removal functions. Pair this bad boy with a DA * weather sealed lens and you're ready to do some heavy duty photography. New options for RAW shooting are also nice, and the continuous shooting mode is improved, though still lagging the competition.

The only features in the K20D I wish I had in this guy are the better continuous shooting mode and that incredible new 14.6 mp sensor. Maybe the K30D someday :)

Pentax K200D (Body only)

THE GOOD: Sensor-shift image stabilization; wireless flash control; sensitivity-priority mode; dust and water resistant. THE BAD: Inaccurate, though still pleasing colors; tends to underexpose images; no live view mode. THE BOTTOM LINE: Pentaxs K200D entry-level SLR gives a lot of bang for the buck and has better performance than last years model. Despite low noise and pleasingly detailed images,...

Pentax K200D Review

The Pentax K200D is a good starter digital SLR camera, one with a lot of history built into its body. Its lens mount, for starters, is compatible with K-mount lenses made as long as 33 years ago, giving the K200D a huge selection of lenses. What's more, all lenses attached to the Pentax K200D get the benefit of the K200D's body-based, sensor-shift Shake Reduction technology, allowing sharper...
