Casio Ex-Z57 Digital Camera

Strengths: -Portable and very compact ( one the best in this class ) -Longest battery life period! Largest LCD display - Very Compact - Very fast start-up - uses SD cards.

Weakness: Average Photo Quality, wished it came with a camera case.

Everything you dread on a typical camera you wont find here. Its battery life is the best in its category, it is one of the most compact in its category, very quick start up, fairly intuitive operation, largest LCD of its category, use cheap SD cards, easy point and shoot camera.

You wont appreciate battery life till you find yourself getting a Sam's Club card and buying alkaline batteries in bulk! You Canon owners would know. Then, have to go to Circuit City or Best Buys to get Expensive Memory Sticks -you Sony owners would know!

This camera is definitely a point a shoot model, take it for what it is, for the price point, it is not an SLR for you rediculous reviewers that compare apples and oranges.

Have had mine for almost a year and has worked great with no quibbles. I have no problems recommending it to anyone.

Buyers Beware. Breaks without warning.

Strengths: Good Quality, when it works... Big screen, when it works... Good Features, when it works...

Weakness: Breaks without warning. Has product defect that's been unrecognized

I personally have had this camera for about 8 months. It was a great camera and I was very pleased with it. I've taken it everywhere and have taken some great pictures with it.

Until it broke...

The lens would never extend or open. I sent it in because it was within the 90 warrantee. About 3 weeks later I got it back and it worked great almost all summer...

Until it broke again...

I've NEVER dropped this thing. Also, the exact same problem has happened to my brother's camera of the exact same model... I plan on sending it to Casio again demanding another repair on the grounds this is a factory defect. The only thing keeping me from giving this one star is the fact that WHEN this thing WORKS, it's a fine piece of machinery. Otherwise it's worthless. This is a great camera, but buyers beware, it's prone to breaking for no reason.

I bought a "reconditioned as new" Casio Z750 and after 9 months the lens froze. I never dropped it, bumped it...just froze!
I agree after reading other posts, this is a "built in" defect. Casio should do something about it. Still cost me almost $200 and now how much to repair? Seems like only will break again. I agree, buyer beware!

Another Casio Exilim EX-Z57 Digital Camera Broken

Strengths: Easy to use, long battery, good pictures, compact

Weakness: Broke, Customer service weak

I have had this camera for just over a year. I really liked it and then like many other people reviewing this camera, the lens would not function. When you push the power button you hear a beep but nothing happens. It takes so long to fix this camera and Casio is not helpful at all, I decided to get a different camera and throw this one away. Casio should have extended the warranty for this camera, it is obviously defective based on all of these reviews.

Satisfactory

Strengths: Easy to carry fits in any pocket great. Most of the pics will turn out great. The flash seems to have great range in darker places. Fairly easy to use and user friendly. SD memory. Bat. life

Weakness: Small size can make it hard to hold on to. I have large fingers and tend to hit buttons I don't mean to. Some of the pics about 1 in 6 turn out blurry and sometimes the auto focus seems slow.

Easy to carry fits in any pocket great. Most of the pics will turn out great. The flash seems to have great range in darker places. Fairly easy to use and user friendly. Plus SD memory seems to be easier to come by at a low price. The battery life is great too especially for the price.
The small size can make it hard to hold on to. I have large fingers and tend to hit buttons I don't mean to. Some of the pics about 1 in 6 turn out blurry and sometimes the auto focus seems a little slow.
Over all I think its a good camera for the price I had a few too many problems with the focus and how quickly pictures took as well as my grip on the camera because of its size so i have switched to a canon elf but over all it is a good camera.

I got this camera christmas 2005. Thought it was the best little camera i had ever had. I liked how it took pics so fast. Then without warning the lens would not work anymore. Took to a camera shop to see how much it would cost to repair and they said anywhere between $185 and $225. Crazy. You might as well buy a new camera. I know I will not buy a Casio again after seeing the other complaints on them. This model must have a defect as there are others complaining about the same exact problem with it. I had never dropped it. Took very good care of it. Good thing they discontinued it.

Casio Z-57

Strengths: Large Screen. Battery. Fast. Menu

Weakness: Hard to find pretection for the large screen

I tried my friend's casio Z-57 before, and decided to by one for my self. I found it even better. This is a great camera with large Screen. Battery last very long (probabaly the longest in its catagory). Quick shutter and the menu is very easy.

Forget Service

Strengths: Large LCD screen, long life battery, small size, good pictures only if you can hold the camera steady.

Weakness: The large LCD screen can be easily cracked/broken.

Like other reviews I've read, Casio wanted $207 to repair my broken camera before they even looked at it. Add the cost of shipping and you are better off buying a new one.

Casio Exilim EX-Z57 5 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: -2.7inch screen. -Best shot feature option(just like any other exilim line-ups. -Satifying start up. -Usage of secure digital(versatile) -multi-langauage menu -Different time zone setting

Weakness: -missing view find -2.7 inch LCD(hard to find screen protector) -charge only able through cradle. -Buttons smaller than previous model

I tend to write more weakness.
I wanted to point out all the characteristics, some people think those(above) weaknesses are minuses but some of these points listed under my weakness can be a plus for some. Such thing as buttons being small--some might prefer them like that.

Nevertheless the strengths were greater.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!

It's the best ultra compact size Casio is offering right now.
good price for right amount of features.

However, the design haven't much changed since z55 but the absent of the view finder make the back of the camera design a lot different.
Good follow-up(worth while purchase) to the previous models.

Wish design was bit more luxury; I prefer the design of Panasonic LUMIX dmc-fx7 or Sony Cybershot DSC-t7.

Casio Exilim EX-Z57 5 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Easy to learn how to use. Fast start-up. Excellent pictures and great visual on LCD screen. Light weight and small size a great plus and allows you to carry in a very small case.

Weakness: None that I can find.

I would definitely reccommend this Camera to anyone that wants a camera that is small and light weight and takes great pictures as well. It is the ultimate in small cameras taking excellent pictures.

Casio Exilim EX-Z57 5 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: Great overall camera size and LCD size!!! SD memory is a great feature since you can get them for cheap and are comopatible w/ other. A variety of best shot modes really do help make this a good buy.

Weakness: Internal memory is only 9.3 megs. Pictures can come out blury due to camera's size... must focus on holding camera steady - not good if you have someone else take your picture

After a little adjustment, I was impressed by the easy layout of the menu. The best shot modes are very handy and do improve the pictures of a beginner photographer. You can digital zoom during video mode and the built-in microphone does capture sound. The only con with this phone is the vibration or difficulty in getting a clear picture when using the zoom - because it is hard to hold a camera that is so small still.

I Must Have Gotten A Lemon

Strengths: Large screen makes it easy to share pictures I've just taken.

Weakness: Breaks by itself, poor repairs, large charger, long shutter lag time.

This camera is probably a great camera if it would work. I bought mine and was very excited to take tons of pictures over a summer packed with wedding, engagement parties, bachelorette parties, birthdays, and a huge trip to Vegas for my 30th birthday. Unfortunately, this camera worked for one weekend and then unexplainably stopped working when I opened it to take a picture. I sent it to "The Time Machine", a repair center listed on teh Casio website as an authorized repair center. They had it for OVER TWO MONTHS. I called to find out what the holdup was and apparently the repair parts they had ordered were faulty and so they'd had to reorder new ones. Even Casio's repair parts are defective??? I'm not getting a very good impression of the quality of their products. When I FINALLY got my camera back, it was slightly more useful than when it would do nothing. It would take pictures but every one of them is blurry. I can't even print a decent 3X5 picture from the poor quality photos the camera takes now. I've adjusted every setting and none of them will take a clear photo. I have since sent the camera back to Casio's own repair center requesting a brand new replacement camera or a refund of the $300 I paid for it. I had a Pentax Optio S4 previously and it worked like a dream until I dropped it (oops). I'm considering giving up on Casio and buying the new Pentax, the S6, which is smaller and probably far superior. More than I'm upset about getting a defective camera, I'm upset about the thousands of memories I was unable to record for posterity this summer. I highly recommend steering clear of Casio. They should have stuck with cheap watches. Apparently their cameras are just as cheaply made.

Casio Exilim EX-Z57 5 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: The 2.7 inch lcd screen

Weakness: quality of material

The best feature of the camera is obviously the 2.7 inch lcd screen. It allows me to view pictures I have taken easily, without having to strain. However, the quality of the camera material isn't as great as the canon I have. On hand, the camera feels a little light weight. Overall, so far, it has worked fine without any problems.

Great camera, especially for your money

Strengths: Size, Battery life, screen size, BESTSHOT, simple, good value for money, good quality pictures

Weakness: bad instruction manual

i bought this camera a little while ago and am so far very sattisfied. the lcd screen is very big and pretty clear and for a camera this size its defenetly impressive. The bestshot mode is cool and convienient for preset settings and more. I have not yet had a chance to actually print pictures, but i have loaded them onto my computer and at full screen they are still very clear. I have used this camera for hours on end and the battery is still near full. overall a great camera, deffenitly recomended. The only problem which i found was that the users manual was very unclear, but thats not much of a problem considering you can basically figure out the camera on your own

Casio Exilim EX-Z57 5 Megapixel Compact Camera -...

Strengths: camera is nice

Weakness: Dealing with casio

Beware of buying a camera from Casio. This camera was dropped so the damage was not covered by warranty. I spent countless hours on the phone listening to recorded messages trying to get customer service. I sent the camera in for repair. They sent back an estimate, but could not tell me if the camera would be repaired with refurbished parts or replaced until AFTER I paid the 207.00 repair bill. The camera was 3 weeks old. Their attitude was "tough luck". I had a similar experience with my sons mp3 player from Creative. It went through the wash and was ruined in the first 30 days. Creative sent me a brand new one,at no charge, even though they didn't have to. I guess I have been spoiled by good customer relations with other companies.
I was willing to pay casio for a new camera if they would give it to me at wholesale. They couldn't even do that for me. I won't buy another casio product. I have bought 2 watches in the past 10 years, and neither one of them has ever worked right. Never again.

Casio Exilim EX-Z57 Digital Camera Review

The Casio Exilim EX-Z57 joins the crowded field of 5 megapixel sub-compact point-and-shoot cameras. With an oversized 2.7-inch LCD and sturdy metal construction, the EX-Z57 will appeal to a variety of users in search of a small camera for snapshots. Unfortunately, our testing shows that the camera's image quality is generally poor, with marginal color accuracy, and substandard control of noise....
