I bought this camera because it looked sharp in black and because it zoomed with the greatest detail compared to the other store display cameras. I was not disappointed by the zoom capability or the photo quality, however I did accidentally take a movie instead of a photo during my daughter's basketball game. This happened because the mode selector switch on top got rotated by accident to the movie mode, which was a frequent occurrence and had to be watched. Another problem, and this might be one that I contributed to, is that there was a delay between pushing the button and the photo capture of about 1 second, which made it difficult to get the ideal action shots in a basketball game. That might have been eliminated with different settings, but I'll never know now, as I'll explain shortly. The camera did take some fantastic portrait shots, one of the best was when my daughters were going to school at 7:00 am in December. It was dark outside, with just a red hint of sunrise in the background, and I took the shot of them with a flash. They showed up beautifully, with detail so sharp, I could see the ridges on my younger daughter's corduroy jacket, and at the same time the camera picked up all the shades of the distant sunrise, from black, through purple and blue, to the faint reds.
Yesterday I took the camera skiing, along with my daughters. The camera survived the slopes, but sometime later, maybe while loading the skis in the vehicle to go home, the LCD screen took a fatal hit, destroying the display completely.
I regret that it is now in the trash can.
