This camera is not capable of taking a decent picture. After extensively reading the user manual and months of trying to make this camera work, I gave up. I finally gave up on Sony as well because they are not interested in satisfying their customers or standing behind their product. I am very disappointed in Sony's lack of concern. This product doesn't even deserve a one star rating.

Very Happy

Strengths: Very compact, very clear pictures and very fast picture taking.

Weakness: None. You have to buy a separate memory stick - it doesn't take the normal SD cards but it was only $30 so it wasn't a big deal to me.

I've only had the camera for a few days but so far I haven't found anything wrong with it. I originally bought a Kodak Easy Share and after getting horrible, grainy pictures of my brand new granddaughter, I immediately sent it back and bought the Sony W-90. What a difference! I wanted something that I can carry everywhere, in my purse, and also a camera that takes fast pictures because my other camera was taking too long to snap the picture and I was missing great shots of my fast-moving grandkids. This camera is everything I wanted and its an awesome camera for the price! I highly recommend.

Good Little Camera

Strengths: Compact, good image quality and color, image stabilization (super steady shot) works great, good video for a point and shoot camera, intuitive controls, lots of settings, nice software for organizing

Weakness: No manual exposure (then again it's a point and shoot), nonstandard media unless you have other Sony products

I've had this camera for about three weeks now and I've really enjoyed it. I also have a number of other cameras including a digital SLR. The reason I got the Sony DSC-W90 was because I wanted a pocket sized camera I can take anywhere and hopefully still be able to get some quality shots. I haven't been disappointed.

First off, this thing is tiny. Almost too small as my hands are little large but I'm adapting. The trade-off, being able to carry a camera the size of a cell phone just about everywhere I go, has been great. How many times have you seen something and said "I wish I had a camera with me!"? Well now I almost always have one with me!

The picture quality is very good, especially considering the price I paid for the camera. I can easily get 8 x 10 or larger prints from this camera and they look great.

The image stabilization (super steady shot) works great! Matched with a feature that automatically bumps the ISO up to further prevent blur from camera shake is a nice touch. After all, a little grain is better than blur if you have to choose.

One thing that really surprised me was how good the video works. Now, it's not a DV camcorder and isn't meant to be; but when in a pinch and you want to get video of something going on at the moment, this camera does an acceptable job. Again, are you going to carry a camcorder with you everywhere you go? No, but you can carry this little camera.

I guess to balance my review I need to cover some negatives. First, it uses the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo media. This in itself isn't bad as it works perfectly well and may even be better than more popular media, it's just that I have nothing else that uses it. It would be nice to use a more standard media like SD or CF as most people already have these and could share between devices. Now if someone has other Sony products that use this media, this would be a moot point.

The other thing I miss is manual settings for exposure or at least aperture / shutter priority settings. I guess I'll get used to trusting the camera as it seems to do a pretty good job with exposures, especially when you use the proper setting.

It does allow automatic exposure bracketing and what really surprised me is that it lets you choose the metering mode - center weighted, evaluative or spot! I doubt it's a true spot meter but still, on a point and shoot, that's pretty cool!

So, if you're looking for a compact camera that takes good pictures with little fuss and you don't mind not having manual exposure settings, this is a good little camera to consider.

Good Cam!

Weakness: It has only 3x optical zoom with which we cannot capture distant objects.

This is a good cam. The high megapixel and the compact size make it a good buy. I like this cam a lot. I carry it with me almost everywhere. It is really easy to use, and a lot of fun too. All my friends love this cam too. Infact, 2 others ordered it after seeing my digicam. Its worth it.

Easy to use!

Strengths: The most attractive feature of the camera is that as you turn the wheel on the top of the camera body to select shooting mode, a large image of that same graphic wheel appears on the screen.

Weakness: I have not found weakness in this product.

All controls are laid out logically, requiring little time to master. Most impressive is the fact that this camera is so well planned out that it requires a very short instruction manual. All the basic instructions of this feature laden camera are written in about 20 pages. This makes it very easy to learn and use.
