Great Camera - Great Pictures

Strengths: 20X Zoom is unbelievable, 10MP, User-Friendly Menu, Large LCD screen, TTL Hot-shoe, 10-picture Panorama function

Weakness: No way to "permanently" mount a protective (UV, Sky) lens filter. Flash seems a bit weak. Small(ish) size is actually a bit more difficult to hold than a SLR sized camera..

I bought this to replace a seven year-old C-2100UZ that is still working great. I figured if I got this kind of usage from Olympus then I'd stay with them for the new camera. I looked at the SP-560 and the SP-570 and decided to go the SP-570 route. The camera menu stayed much the same as the C-2100, so the learning curve was fairly low. They did put the Panorama function in the first level so...

Pricey, but incredible!

Strengths: Telephoto & supermacro!!!! Incredible!

Weakness: Not difficult to operate; a little bit of a learning curve. A little on the expensive side, but nothing else in this price range has the 20x (optical) telephoto. Not recognized by 64-bit Vista OS.

I've never used a digital camera with this many features (film camera, yes; digital, no). To be honest, I could use the camera right out of the box to take regular pics from wide angle to telephoto. Getting around the features were not difficult, First thing was to check out the telephoto and the macro. One word, AMAZING! With the macro you can shoot as close as around 1/2 inch (but it better be...

WOW !!

Strengths: This is one great camera even after having it for only 2 days.It is capable of so much but yet very easy to use in the auto mode.Takes fantasic photos and is user friendly.

Weakness: nothing found as of yet

This camera is allot more than I had expected and I am very pleased with this purchase. It seems a bit complicated at first but I played with it for an hour and then sat down with the manual and worked my way around all of its many features. To many to list here and it is fairly simple to use, just take a few hours with the manual and that should do it. Allot of camera for the money I feel.Takes...

Wow! What a camera for the price.

Strengths: The action shots, zoom, and macro modes are phenomenal.

Weakness: OK, it's not a fancy Digital SLR with loads of lenses, etc., but that's not what I wanted.

I've had an Olympus Camedia C4040 that took great shots but was 7 years old and didn't have the zoom/speed I was looking for. Also had a Panasonic Lumix for easy carrying. It took great pictures, but when my son took it to Australia it didn't come back in working condition (his fault, not the camera's). Before replacing, I wanted something with a viewfinder. No matter how good the screen, taking...

Camera has it all....almost. You don't need more!

Strengths: 20X Zoom is not to be denied. The wide end of the range is also very fine and free of distortion common to wide angle lenses. The 570 has more features than most camera buffs will ever use.

Weakness: I miss the ability to add filters to the lens. I usually use a polarizing filter on outdoor shoots. Not with this unit though. Lastly, thyere are better choices than AA batteries for a camera.

I have been an active camera enthusiast and user for over 60 years. I love photography and its many possibilities. It has never been greater and more available to people than now. This camera (Olympus SP-570 UZ) is everything rapped into one package. No need to lug a bunch of lenses around, 26-520mm is all there in one. Image stablization takes care of the need for a tripod in 90% of the time....
