Strengths: I'm of the same mind as N/A the first reviewer. This is my third Fuji and I've tried all the other big names

Weakness: none that affect me

Again I'm going to say ditto to the first review. What they were thinking when they eliminated two features that would have make this a 6 on a scale of 5 I'm scratching a hole in my head wondering. The elimination of the double A's and the changing out the compact flash makes no sense at all.

they took away two of fujis best features

Strengths: good quality in both build and performance.

Weakness: None that concern me except what I'll mention in my comment

This is my third Fuji and though it's too early to say for sure, this one seems every bit as good as both my others. And they were very good. But I almost bought another s9000 for the double A batteries and compact flash card. Big mistake on Fujis part to change that with this camera. If it had double A's and a compact flash card I'd give it a 6 on a scale of 5.

This camera is a beauty. I'm very happy I bought this camera. I almost talked myself out of it because of some professional reviews that I read. I am glad I ventured forth because I really like this camera. The image quality of this camera is better than any point and shoot I have been around. It's a very versatile camera that can do virtually anything.The zoom ring is smooth, the face detection really works. When I first got the camera I had a problem learning all of the functions but after a month of playing with it I am becoming a lot more comfortable with it. I must say that the reach of this camera is amazing. Not only is 400mm a long reach but the digital zoom is the first digital zoom on any camera that is actually usable. Very pleased with the results of 2X digital zoom.
There is a down side. The battery. It is only good for approx. 200 pictures. I bought an extra battery but even with two it will be borderline to get through a days shooting unless you can get one back on the charger right away. Also the raw setting is buried in the menu. I have heard of some that are using the custom setting on the mode dial for raw which makes it easy to get to so I guess that is an easy enough way to solve that.
Some other plus features- I like the velvia setting, I like the command dial and all of it's functions, I guess I just like this camera. When you grab ahold of it you can tell it means business. This camera replaces a Nikon D80 with an 18-200vr lens. I really thought I would be taking a step back. In some things I did but in other things I really like this Fuji better. And when all is said and done and the pictures are on the computer is when I'm really pleased with this camera. Enough said.

Strengths: great optical zoom, excellent low light, easy to use, deep feature set for advanced user, all in one

Weakness: chromatic aberation in strong highlites, auto white balance sometimes misses the mark, Raw data software

For someone who wants all the features of a DSLR kit, just as much lens power as a two lens kit, and excellent resolution, at a low cost, without the hassle and risk of changing lenses, this is the one to pick. Read the manual; this camera is capable of everything that you want a camera to do (if YOU are capable). Buy an extra battery. After thousands of images I have nothing but praise for this...

For someone who wants all the features of a DSLR kit, just as much lens power as a two lens kit, and excellent resolution, at a low cost, without the hassle and risk of changing lenses, this is the one to pick. Read the manual; this camera is capable of everything that you want a camera to do (if YOU are capable). Buy an extra battery. After thousands of images I have nothing but praise for this well made, well priced photographic tool. Learn its limitations then go have fun.

Strengths: Fast to turn on, and focus. The control buttons are easy to reach and use. Large adjustable LCD.

Weakness: Weight of the camera and length of the lens. The center of gravity is ahead of the camera body.

The reason I bought this camera is it has a fixed lens with a lot of zoom. Therefore there is no need to change/carry an extra lens. Also there is less chance of dust or dirt getting into the camera. I like to shoot landscapes in many different ways while traveling around the world. If you like to shoot fast action or special subjects requiring special lenses this is probably not the camera for...

I have used other fuji cameras and learning the new features of this one was easier than changing to another brand.
