Awesome Camera

Strengths: Good balance between very expensive and beginner

Weakness: Lacks in-body autofocus

This is a great camera for those of you who would value shooting video for it is the lowest priced Nikon DSLR that can perform this function. Above this is the D90 which will cost you another $400.

Nikon D5000

Strengths: I enjoy everything about the camera.

Weakness: None.

I don't have much camera experience but I'm enjoying the Nikon D5000. Lots of things to learn about the camera but it takes great pictures and good movies. My husband and I went to a show and we both taped the show. His movie didn't turn out at all, my movie came out great. Looking forward to learning more about the camera.

I LOVE THIS CAMERA

Strengths: This camera focuses great and has an amazing resolution.

Weakness: The only weakness is that it isn't waterproof.

Whether you are a professional photographer, someone who just likes taking pictures, or a photography student, you will agree that this is an excellent camera. The photographer does not need to be great in order to take a great picture with it. So if you are a great photographer, the picture comes out breath taking. I love this camera!!!

Nikon D5000 w/18-55mm lens, 55-200mm lens.

Strengths: Phenomenal photos! So many features match the D90 at a much more affordable price, and then some.

Weakness: Internal flash is OK for fill when you don't require full flash capabilities.

With all of the available extras such as 2x and 3.5x top grade lens kits, fish eye lens adapter, a load of various filters and adapter rings so I can utilize other lens accessories from my 35mm cameras, very Heavy Duty tripod with built in leveling bulbs, monopod, extra batteries (a MUST have)for those 1 time events like weddings and stuff, various lens cleaning kits, Nikon SB-900 flash (another...

With all of the available extras such as 2x and 3.5x top grade lens kits, fish eye lens adapter, a load of various filters and adapter rings so I can utilize other lens accessories from my 35mm cameras, very Heavy Duty tripod with built in leveling bulbs, monopod, extra batteries (a MUST have)for those 1 time events like weddings and stuff, various lens cleaning kits, Nikon SB-900 flash (another MUST have), a great large kit with extenable handle and rolling wheels to carry the pieces, studio flash system, etc. make this a great system for the novice user, advanced amateur, and even the pro. This is great competition for the D90 camera with many features at a very affordable price compared to the "pro" lines of all brands. I could go on a long time about this camera; just go get one or two. Gotta have a spare for those oh so important events as well as having the ability to set them up differently with a quality (2) camera strap. Point and shoot or go full manual and everything in between.
