Excellent remote, multi-functional, must-have!Strengths: Size, functions, attachment options. Weakness: You have to point right at the camera, else it wont pick up the signal. Got this remote last week with my Digital Rebel XT. First of all, I expected it to be just a remote that replicates the shooting button. This is an excellent addition to my photography kit. I have not tested the range of the IR, but the simplicity and layout of the controls is convenient. The lettering that identifies the lock, 2 second delay and instant positions on the control are black on black which make them difficult to read.

I bought Canon RC-1 remote control before I went to a short trip. It is very useful tool for just 20 bucks. I used it for night scene, landscape, and anything I mounted my camera on tripod. The distance is good. Since I mostly shoot landscape, the direction issue is not really a problem for me. Highly recommended!
